Selling handmade cards on eBay??

Have you ever sold handmade cards on eBay? Is it worth it?

I'm considering selling a few cards (NOT SU), some of which are stamped (angel companies) and others only have embellishments or peel-offs.

What are the do's and dont's on selling cards on eBay?

From my experience it's not worth it. Try a local coffee shop or someplace like that. I have noticed people aren't willing to purchase hand made cards. My SIL did a craft fair and NO ONE bought our cards and they were really pretty and very cheap. We sold a dozen for like $8.00. Even our packs of 4 notecards were like $2.00 and had no takers. All they ladies would say Oh I could make that myself" I was very upset but I didn't have to make christmas cards for three years. :0 Good luck on whatever you decide.

I used to sell cards at craft fairs but, like your SIL, wasn't successful. It wasn't worth the effort at all.

I agree that ebay is not a good market for handmade cards.

Most of the people that I have seen who are successful at selling their cards seem to do it little, by little, on a personal basis at first.

I recently read someone's blog who had a great sale at a friend's office during the lunch hour. They set up the cards in a conference room and everyone browzed and bought during lunch. She sold 75 cards that day and was thrilled.

Would other handmade items (like notebooks, jewelry, etc) sell at all?

I think Etsy would be a better venue. I really don't know much about it, but I do believe it is an online "store" for handcrafted items.

Maybe it is different locations, but I have been doing craft shows for a few years now. You are right though, it is a hit or miss kind of thing. You never know what people are looking for. Check out my blog to see my June craft show items.
