Default Selling Cards.. need ideas and suggestions

Hello Everyone out there!

Okay so here is my situation. A co-workers' mother, owns a shop in a tourist historic part of town. Hint.. a lot of movies are filmed there and the Bay once was there before we were all born! It's in Canada!

Anyhow the lady that owns this store is addicted to anything that is white. Her daughter ( my co-worker ) has seen my cards and told me that I should try to sell them at her mothers store. All I need to do is make up enough samples for her to chose from... for all occasions and needs.. like weddings, get well, thank you... ect.

The only problem I have is trying to break away from colour! I love layering my cards and use at least 3 colours in the same tones. I suppose I could keep doing this and include a mix of more white in my cards and use only another colour. How boring though. I did make a baby card and used pink ( blah) and white. I used several background stamps on the pink paper and stamped in white to break them up a bit.. and used a vera mark pad as well.. to help create some interest.

I am telling you this is a challenge for me.. as I adore the earth tones.

Do you have any suggestions?
Plus needing advice for selling cards.. do's and don'ts.

Thank you.

Because it is a retail shop - you are not allowed to sell cards made with Stampin Up Products! A bummer I know but that is according to the "Angel Policey" posted on Stampin Up!

Yep, them's the rules!! You must have an angel stamp (one with the SU on it) and you may only sell at craft fairs and non-fixed retail locations. I am not sure about things like selling at a dr's office or teachers lounge. I believe those are ok because they are not fixed retail locations.

Definitely. Welcome to the not so angelic policy (in my opinion).

Stampin Up!'s "Angel Policy"

(see above link for FULL policy)

However, the Stampin Up! name, trademarks, or logos cannot be used at any location where personal hand-stamped items are sold, nor may they be used in any manner to solicit sales of such items. Hand-stamped items cannot be sold in any permanent retail location (any location that conducts business in a store, consignment shop, kiosk, mall, or Internet site), nor may they be sold to other vendors for resale purposes, nor may they be sold at Stampin Up!demonstrator-sponsored events such as workshops, stamp camps, open houses, etc.

Keep in mind that there are some stamp companies that don't have an angel policy - they won't let you make and sell anything with their stamps. SU didn't either until a few short years ago.

Yep. I think Hero Arts (who make most of the open-stock stamps I've seen at Michael's, Joann's and Hobby Lobby) prohibits using any of their images for commercial purposes.

I believe Hero Arts' Angel Policy allows you to sell cards using their images if you get written permission, and agree to use any given image no more than 50 times. I may have the numbers wrong, but the policy is on their web site.

Unfortunately, no. It has to be one of the stamps that has " STAMPIN' UP!" as part of the stamped image. The two Handmade with Love sets on p. 190 in the '04 - '05 catalog fulfill the policy requirements, as do the personalized "hand stamped by" stamps on p. 199.

Hope that helps.

Using these stamps permits you to sell cards, but still NOT at permanent locations.

If you don't use these stamps, you can't sell them AT ALL.

you can use 100 proof press stamps to sell cards. they do not have an angel policy but a permissive one (their words not mine). as long as you do not use a machine to make you cards (only hand stamped). i like many of 100 proof press stamps too. i just prefer SU because of sets. hope this will help you.
