Default Sealing glass

We stamped a snowman & snowflakes on plates and colored the scarf & hat on the snowman. What do you use to seal the glass? We sealed a couple and washed them, and the whole thing came off. What do you use and how many times do you seal?

Oh My! How awful to have your work disappear down the drain. Sorry I don't know the answer. But I'll bump this up to the top of the list. Maybe someone will answer in the morning.

I would spray with a clear laquer spray or put a matte or gloss sealer over it... only thing then is that I would put a doily or some plastic wrap down before putting food on it.. would be concerned about toxicity... I use this method for handpainted things... don't see why it wouldn't work for stamped images too... hope this helps

When I have decopauged or painted on plates, etc., I use a spray sealer or even Mod Podge, BUT you can't wash them. I find that the "work" will still come off even if you seal it. I do the images from the back so the plate can be used. Ify ou do the work on the front, you do have to put something down on the plate (I think at least) if you are going to be putting food on that sealed part of the plate.

This morning I googled for painting on glass plates and found an item from the DIY network.

Her list of supplies includes air-dry glass paint and air-dry glass sealer. They did not give brand names, but it does look as though you need to use specialized products on glass. Hope this helps.

I've stamped on glass vases and heat embossed the image with embossing powder. They have stayed put, however, I don't use those vases regularly and gently hand wash when I do. don't know if they would hold up to regular scrubbing.

Thanks for the suggestions - hopefully one of them will work. I knew I could find an answer here!
