I keep all but the smallest of scraps (less than 2 x 2 would probably be pitched). I keep mine in a large ziploc bag with the color name on the bag and I file it in front of the same color cardstock. When I need a small piece of cardstock, I just pull out my ziploc bag. For one of my swaps for Regionals, I used scraps for the main image. I had enough scraps of Confetti white to not have to cut up a new sheet. (And I made 35 of that card.)
I keep everything and get teased about it. What size does everyone stop saving at? I have been known to save stuff smaller than a postage stamp. I keep each colour family in a different scrapbook page protector thing, like the kind SU sells.

i keep EVERYTHING!! LOL well, maybe not every little itty bitty piece, but I use my craps for die-cuts and borders, punches and weaving. Some pieces I had to throw away cause they were not useable again...but like my hubby says... "packrat" lol

I am the same way. I've saved tiny pieces of white CS because I can sometimes stamp single words (thanks) on them before layering. I figure I save them to save cutting up a full sheet of CS. I do think I should toss some of my scraps. I recently filed them according to bold brights, EE, SS..etc. I find that I use them more since they're easier to locate.
I save just about every piece. I only save large pieces of my scrapbooking paper, but I have found that I frequently need tiny pieces for cards, so I save all of my cardmaking CS. I keep all the pieces in the same folder as the full size color, just in the front. I have each color in a seperate folder, so I don't have to search for the color I want in a big scrap pile. HTH!
I save absolutely everything! Even the tiniest can be used for serendipity sheets or squares. "Course, I'm that way in general - that's why my house looks the way it does!
Absolutely everything. I have 4 13 pocket folders ~ one for each color family ~ and store the scraps in zip lock bags in the bags each in it's own assigned little slot. You'd be amazes at what you can do with those little scraps.

This is what I do, and I probably got this idea from you, Ginger! I use the side loading sheet protectors so the opening is at the top when it's in the front of the hanging file folder. It works great and now I always check my scraps first when I go to use any color.
I'm with the "keep it all" group, because even the smallest pieces can be useful for testing how different inks look when I'm designing a card. Besides, it's so hard to throw out that high quality SU! paper. Linda

Pretty much ditto....except "small" pieces (less than 1/4 sheet) go into some small rubbermaid containers which are labelled by color family. I keep pieces that are larger than about 1.5" square ~ enough to use my paper piecing punch with.

I store mine in front of each file for each color. It works out nicely and they are organized with the rest of my paper. I do the same with my coupons. I put the ones about to expire at the front and the most recent to the back
I keep all of them. No size is too small because I can always practice something on it. I keep mine in a 3 ring binder, separated by color families and each color has it's own sheet protector page. I got this idea from someone here, and I love it. Scraps are always handy without digging through a pile.
I am sure this will horrify  some of you, but I usualy dont save them. My scraps have to be a quarter of a sheet to make it worth it for me. If I do keep them, I usually just throw them later because I am not that organized about keeping them. Maybe I need a good organizational method.
I do something similar to Bobbie. I have the Costco stainless steel slie out basket files next to my work table. I have a 12x12 box in one of the drawers and keep my scraps in there in three piles- one for half sheets, one for quarter sheets and then the pieces. It makes it easy to get stuff for cards (anyhow in my mind). It is open, accessible and visual.

I save anthing big enough to see, even tiny strips of cardstock that can be used to make a ribbon strip or something on a card. The first thing I do with my scraps is to run them through one of my xyrons and turn them into stickers. Then I can use them with all my punches and decorative scissors and more to add them to cards and scrap pages. I put them in a file folder for the color families...not just specific colors, but I do sort for different sizes so I don't have to finger through tons of scraps to find one big enough to use. Like pieces big enough for squares, circles, hearts, etc. and thin strips, etc. I have a file crate that I bought a couple years ago from Target and it works out great.
When I'm really organized...which isn't often enough....I take a little time to punch out a bunch of my strips and small pieces and then store them in embroidery floss containers. That way I have a bunch of shapes already to use and I don't have to search for them or spend extra time punching while I'm stamping.

Two or three weeks ago I saw someone (don't remember who) suggest a binder for scraps. It inspired me as all of mine were jumbled in a box!
I made labels on my computer, labelled one page protector for each colour, and put my scraps in he corresponding page protector. I grouped them by colour family and stuck them in a binder. Now it's SO easy to see what I have, put away scraps, and find them when I want them!
I keep them all - almost. I have them in a little mail sorting thingy right on my desk. I use them often and my stash is not too big. I seem to end up with lots of half inch strips - and I use these to punch things out of - like leaves, hearts, or snowflakes.
I save the ones that are big enough for a punch of some kind, at least. I have file folders where the scraps go, (1/2 page size clear down to little bits) and am determined to sort the larger from the smaller any day now!
I was keeping every little scrap of leftover paper until I had so much I didn't want to rummage through the ziplock bags to find the EXACT color. That was before I became a craft snob and was using any old cardstock I could find cheap.
Now that I use SU cardstock only I dumped all my old funky pieces and started over from scratch-
I like to keep them in ziplock bags by color family. Only 4 bags to lug around- and easy to find what I need!
I keep everything! And I mean everything! Once it is less than about 1/4" wide, I'll throw it out. Otherwise it stays.
Most of the pieces are in sheet protectors, by colour family. Patterned paper pieces are now just all stuck together, I need to reorganize so that I use more of the paper now.
The smallest pieces have come in handy when I've wanted to use my punches.
When I'm scrapbooking, I even keep the pieces that I crop off the pictures - who knows, I might want a piece of sky or grass or trees someday!
I also use a three ring binder and the top loading page protectors for my scraps. I got this idea from someone on another list I'm on. I save a lot of scraps unless they are really little or just slivers. I have a lot of white and vanilla scraps and I've been on a "mission" to use up any scraps I can when doing projects lately! This has been working great for me.
I just bought a floral organizer.like the kind you would use for bills. it has the months listed in it.or you can usually use it for electric bills it's made of cardboard and paper and has a plastic clasp.it a bifold kinda of organizer.
Any way I got it at wallmart very inexpensive.Where it has many pockets in it I was able to sort through my colored paper and each color has a place now. This way instead of cutting a large piece of paper and wasting it I can now go to this folder and grab a piece.Iit's very decorative too.looks nice packed away in the scrapbbook room.
I plan on buying another one to sort through my printed papers.I had bags of paper scraps and never used them I went through so much paper.I can even believe how much paper you can save now by doing this it's so organized you just find the color you need and pull out the scraps.I love it.this is a must have for eveyone.

I keep all of my scraps. I store them by color family in clear plastic photo sheets, the ones that you have for 2 pictures on a page. Then if I need a small piece while I'm designing a card, I go to that color first. Even if I crimp something and don't use it, it goes in there. I've used really small pieces for punching 1/4 size circles to put on cards. Also used scraps going across a card for the underneath layer with vellum over it. I have a whole basket of white, mainly strips that I've saved when cutting down white. Then have someplace to go to get those strips for words. Nothing gets thrown out at my house!
I keep it all. It's amazing what I use later. I sort mine by size in a waterfall style clear tract sorter I salvaged from work. I love being inspired by the interesting color combinations that happen in my scrap box. Serindipity does a better job than me sometimes! 'Ain't creativity fun!
I will save and use the larger ones. I have started giving the smaller scraps along with die cuts and stickers I know I wil lnever use to my 2 oldest grandchildren who are starting their own scrapbooks and cards but don't really care what embellishments they use. At least for now it makes their new found hobby not quite so expensive.

I would keep cutting new CS, thus creating more and more scraps until I developed my scrap system and now I am actually running low on scraps! I cannot believe how much I go to my "scrap file" now.
I file each color in its own file folder in a mesh crate I bought at thecontainerstore.com (http://www.thecontainerstore.com/bro...52&CATID=62895) I wrote the name of each color with the coordinating marker. This helps to find the color quicker and the color families are filed together.
What about a challenge...your best card made only with scraps...just a thought. I am keeping all of mine to add to homemade paper...that is a summer project I have in mind...a garage sale blender, scraps, and hopefully some funky new paper to work with...

For years I save all of my "usable" scraps in an expandable file folder. Unfortunely there was no rhyme or reason and it became too unruly. Just sold 3lbs worth of "scraps" on ebay -now I can buy full sized sheets. I'm planning on getting individual folders for each of SU 48 colors to keep my new scraps organzied from here forward.
I save all the scraps in a plastic box under my worktable. When the box starts to get full I cut them into tags of all sizes. Then I package them in little cello bags and give them to my customers as a little freebie.
They love them and it gives them some idea of the true colors of the cardstock.
