Thank you, MamaK, for thinking of all of us that are now Paisley-holics...but I know that the new catty was put to bed a few months ago...hopefully they will come up with something better - oh, I know - a COTC background stamp!

I just posted a thread in the Demo forum about sending a Paisley Print card to Shelli via SU!, and begging for the saving of PP!! its happened beforem when there was an outcry about a retiring set, and they took it off the list!! Between our 2 posts, we dont have a lot of takers I think!!

Do you remember what set(s) they did this with before? Just curious.
It IS possible to get a stamp set saved -- if there's enough demand for it. Just because the catalog has been "put to bed" doesn't meen SU doesn't have the ability to make last minute changes. I just bought Paisley this year and LOVE it -- my hope is that if it CAN'T be saved, something great is going to replace it.
I'm on a roll with dumb questions today... Here's the latest one:
Why does it matter so much to you if the stamp is retired? I mean, you already have it and can continue to stamp to your heart's content, right? I'm not trying to imply anything sarcastic. I'm just wondering where your passion comes from.

Some of these ladies are demonstrators. If a stamp is retired, they can't show it at workshops anymore because customers can't order it.

and it seems that when a set retires.... most of the NEW samples do too! most demos don't tend to play with and/or post the cards with retired sets! paisley is just too good!
I will help you save your paisley. If you will help me save my Proudly Americana Baskets. They are due to retire in August. Pop off an email and beg ...let them know it seems unAmerican! LOL! ;) www.longaberger.com
;) I will get all of my stamping buddies to write to Stampin Up to Save Paisley, and I don't even have Paisley!!! :(
I am prepared to meet the challenge!!!
I sent an e-mail!
The reason for getting it re-instated for demonstrator's is obvious...they won't be able to use it for demonstration purposes if it's retired. As for us customers, we just want to be able to spread the joy of Paisley, I guess!
I loved it immediately, and saw its potential and versatility, but it was a real "sleeper" when the catalog first came out. Now that so many people have just recently discovered it, it's bound to be a big seller. I think SU! definitely pulled the plug too early on this one. And they left Charming Children in! Who's making these decisions?!!!

Isn't Charming Children the one that looked like Children of the Corn??
I have Kids at play and I think that made the hit list. I have used it lots in the past.
I love the cards you ladies do with the paisley. I am just not a paisley person. I hope you guys get it saved!! I will be rooting for you. I am off the puter to do a basket show!
I sent an email. I realize it's probably too late for the next catty, I requested they design a coordinating set and reintroduce the paisley background with it in a future mini catty. I hopr they hear us. Dina

I just ordered the Paisley bg in my kit. Oh well, I love it.
I will send off an email.
And Crystal I will send off one to Longaberger too. There are still some Prouldy American baskets I want that I don't have (the laundry being one of them). BTW, I am off to Dresden June 9th!!!!

OK I posted my email and also BEGGED them to come to England!! LOL thought I might as well do that whilst I was there. No doubt I will get a standard response from them with regards to them having no plans at present.. blah blah blah
MamaK, I don't have this stamp and probably won't get it but I've seen wonderful things done with it so just now sent in an email asking them to reconsider.
Just what we need a Children of the Corn background - I think NOT. I agree with MamaK - it's bad enough (notso)Charming Children will continue to take up space in the next IBC. I shudder to think that they might actually create a coordinating set. I might have to swear off SU if they do that. I would seriously consider the sanity of the executive who would authorize that.
I'm only a customer so it doesn't matter to me what gets retired. But I have to say there are 2 stamps I don't get the appeal of at all that lots of people seem to love - and I have looked in the gallery - and they are Paisley and Canvas. Just not seeing it.
I suppose if I just loved, loved, loved a stamp I wouldn't want SU! to get rid of it either.
Mamak, I sent my email. I don't have that stamp, but wanted to show my support, especially for demos who want to continue to use it. I asked if they had to pull a set in order to reinstate it, to pull Charming Children. I don't find them charming at ALL!
OMGoodness! I am laughing at the thought of the Children of the Corn BG. Just what would that look like? A big cornfield with an option of crop circles? The shape of a tin can with the Jolly Green Giant on it? Ohhhhh, the potential. Maybe they were right in not retiring that spooky set.
Cards to Shelli featuring Paisley are even better. Let's get 'em in the mail, girls. Even if it is too late for Paisley, we can spur interest in a similar set for an upcoming Mini.

I don't have this background stamp. Having only boys, it was just a little fru-fru for me. I was stunned to see it on the list. You ladies have tempted me with all the talk and cards this past month. Now it is on the list, I will have to get off the fence.
I also really like Goovy Lines. I guess I will be making hard choices, soon.
As to the appeal of Canvas, for me it is that I use a lot of textured cardstock, Bazzill. Canvas really makes the SU cardstock mimick that look, IMO.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH
I can NOT stop laughing about the chidren of the corn thing. I thought I was the only one who was freaked out by that set!!!!!!!!!!!!
man, that will work out my abs. for a week!!!! Thanks for the laugh ladies, I love this forum!
Would you guys please stop bashing the "Chilidren of the Corn!" You may be surprised to know those sketches were of MY Children!!!! Just kidding.
I hate it too.
And... I am sending an email to SU about the Paisley. It has recently grown on me and is now my favorite stamp.
I think y'all are underestimating the value of the Children of the Corn set. It's great for stamping all over your tax return envelope and on the envelopes of your least favorite bills. Feature them on every card you make for your critical nothing- you-do-is-ever-good-enough relative. Instead of hiding your stash of personal goodies, make a decorative tin with these little cuties splashed all over and your family will actually pass them by. They're also very effective on a handstamped 'No Solicitors' sign for the front door - haven't had a salesman ring the doorbell all year. Oh yes, there are lots of possibilities for the COTC set. ;)
I'm thinking I need to get Paisley so I can join the fun. I've thought it was so cute all year but just haven't gotten it. Definately need to send some cards to Shelli asking her to save the Paisley. Maybe we can each send her one everyday from now until July.... If we're annoying enough maybe they'll add it as a write in.
GROOVY LINES This means that the album will retire also and I have been buying up stamp sets to go with my groovy lines backgroud stamp for nothing! I am so sad :(
Maybe they'll bring back Paisley with a few other retired sets?
Didn't SU bring back a few retired sets around Christmas 2003? They had a sale on those? Or am I imagining things. At that time I had *just* been to my first SU workshop and was quite clueless, having just bought 2 inkpads and one stamp set that the demo demo'd! <g>
Maybe they could do a special in the fall or winter and bring back Paisley and WCG2 and a couple other well-loved retirement sets for a "special limited-time offer". I do think it's too late for the big catty, but maybe if enough people make the suggestion, they'd work SOMETHING out!
Obviously, they had "put the catty to bed" long before the flurry of Paisley activity here on SCS! <G>
