Karen Margotta aka Art Deco Diva. This is her gallery-You may recognize her pretty work: Art Deco Diva's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

She spent many years in service to people with cancer. Does not seem fair that it took her too. Or just before the rose bloom season which was her favorite flower.
I just realized my name is in her last name.
Deepest condolences to her family and friends.
Jeannie, aka Lv2grdn (and fellow DD) went to the service yesterday and wrote this:
Hello everyone, I had the honor and privilege to attend our dear SCS sister - Karen Margotta's funeral today. The church gathering room was filled with every flower imaginable, especially rose bouquets - Karen's favorite flower. Karen was cremated, and her ashes were contained in the most beautiful urn I've ever seen - Pearl white with pink roses. Mark was doing as well as can be expected, and has a wonderful network of support from friends and family, as he is one of ten siblings, along with Karen's three siblings.
I met a few of her very close cardmaking friends today, and they expressed concern about getting word to Karen's SCS family know of her passing and assured them the sad news was provided. She is dearly missed by everyone she knew and loved.
I loved Karen so much. She was such a ray of sunshine, kind, and so sweet. I know her husband and family will miss her terribly.. I do, too.

Sympathies to her family, loved ones and friends! Much love to all of you! Looking at her gallery, I can see that she was such a talented card maker; they are all so beautiful!
Much gratitude for the love & support from friends of Art Deco Diva
Karen aka Art Deco Diva was truly a brilliant artist and amazing friend. I’ve named a star in honor of her. I met Karen while briefly working in the Cancer Center. One day as I was returning from lunch she happened to see a SU catalog in my hand. She asked if I was a stamper. We became instant friends. She had a big heart….and took in stray cats and often hauled home bags of cracked corn to feed the deer and turkeys outside her home. One time on a hot summer day in Iowa we hopped a fence to offer some bottled water to a horse that was in a field and no water trough. We had lots of fun adventures together. We went to stamp classes & conventions, play dates, craft stores, yard sales and thrift shops over the years. Her term for a spur of the moment adventure was “wild hair/hare.” She was quick to offer a hand to anyone in need and I was a recipient of her kindness many times. Her cards were gorgeous….truly works of art with beautiful heartfelt messages inside. I’ve saved every one she ever gave to me. Mark extended an invitation to her local friends to come and take some crafting things. I brought some leis and a boom box and we held hands while listening to IZ..in particular Somewhere over the rainbow as a way to honor and pay tribute to a dear friend. We spent most of the day with her husband and cats. We had a nice lunch together. She saved every single card she received from all of the lovely SCS folks. The kitchen counter was full of cards from all of you. There were bags of get well cards from devoted friends. Each card gave her the courage needed to battle cancer another day. You were the wind beneath her wings. Your love and friendship will be remembered. It meant so much to her husband and her friends to see the outpouring of love and support. Bless you all!

I love reading your story of your friendship with Karen. Thank you for sharing it here where she meant so very much to so many! She is truly missed and was greatly loved.
Thank you for sharing this sweet tribute of Karen. She will be remembered. Her gallery continues to be a source of inspiration for me, and I'm sure for others also. I cherish the cards she sent my way. We have the same birthday, so I will always think of her fondly on our special day.
