I was making this one for the card sketch challenge and ended up with a big glue goober on the right side. But wait - I have typewriter key thingies! I know! I shall spell Nevermore along the side! I'm a genius. Until I ran out of room...
Whaddya'll think? Can I give this away? Maybe to a family member who won't judge me?
Dangit. Please, make me feel better - tell me about a card that started great and went awry.
TIA
Jackbuilt

remember, we are our own harshest critics. Most people looking at the card will think "how clever!" or "I've never seen anything like that before" or "wow, what a clever idea to use the typewriter thingys to frame the card" or if you sent it to a friend they will only think "that clever Jackbuilt thought of me today and went through the trouble of making a card, how nice! I should be as thoughtful as they are, maybe next year!"
stop beating yourself up and remember, you like doing this even when you make mistakes!!!!!
My motto is "There are no mistakes - there are only opportunities to embellish!" Great card - if you hadn't said anything I would have thought "What a unique and clever way to lay out those letters"
evermore trails off spookily... leading attention back into the card and reinforcing the theme of the card. Not a mistake at all. It's a very intentional design element.
Does that help? I am an English major and it's useful occasionally. You can ALWAYS make positive meaning out of a mistake, and whoever receives the card will LOVE it.
Wow what a card! Poe lovers and readers would love to receive that card! I think it is great you got a Poe Stamp! I think you are very clever to do the Nevermore thing! I keep an adhesive eraser around ALL the time as glue and me always battle and I loose.......

That's "Nevermore," you just can't see the invisible "N"....
Hee Hee I too have tried hard to salvage somthing that usually has a giant blob of stamp-cleaner-splatter on it (white gel pen does not always work...) I'm agreeing with Susan, it's sort of spooky and cool how it trails around and draws you back into the elements. If you're sending it to a Poe fan, you could always just leave off the ORE and let the quote fall off the card completely - they'll know how it ends. Don't fret - just send it and start on something new! I have found that the minute I stick the stamped envelope in the mailbox, I'm glad I did and I just don't worry about it anymore.
I think your card looks great! My stamp club instructor always told me that the only one who knows you made a mistake is you. With that in mind, I've developed the attitude of my cat - no matter what she does, even if it's falling off the couch, she acts like that's exactly what she intended to do! By all means, send it!
