Default Resizing envies

Does anyone have a link to a video or instructions on how to resize a ready-made envie to fit a smaller card? I have a bunch of large envies and would like to recycle them.

You can just put a bit of double sided tape on the inside to make a smaller opening or just use them as is

I take thin c/s or printer paper and make a pocket for my card. I do this with 4.25" square cards so that I can mail them without the square card surcharge. I cut the paper 8" x 5.5" then fold in half and score the long side 0.5" from each side. Score-tape or double-faced tape keep it all together.

I've tried resizing larger ones in the past but there's no way to hide the previous fold marks and they don't look very professional. I even tried ironing the creases out but that didn't work. It was worth a shot :-)

Julie at Paper Trufflez had a neat idea. Maybe you could adapt your envelopes by using it.

I had kind of a strange idea...

Could you clip some overage off both ends (and even the bottom if necessary) and then make score lines to fold in and seal?

I'm not sure if I explained this well. Hope you can figure out what I mean.

Be careful about that, though-- you don't want to make the envelope too square. There's a certain length-to-height ratio that needs to be maintained or you'll get dinged with the non-machinable surcharge. Also, the minimum height for an envelope is 3.5", so you have to be sure you don't make it too small.

Default Hoosier

Thanks ladies for the suggestions. I will be experimenting as I have lots of pastel envies with designs printed on the inside - too pretty to throw out.
