Question Quick White Stazon Question...

So I am leaving for Hobby Lobby in the next hour and I was planning on getting a white stazon ink pad if they have any left. BUT before I spend any money on it, I am curious on the opacity (is that the right word?) of it? Does it stay bright white when stamped on colored cardstock. Or should I just stick with a white pigment ink pad? Thanks!
Onita

I do not have a White StazOn myself - it's on my wishlist though! However, I am one of the moderators on the Technique Junkies yahoo! group (for paid subscribers of the www.patstamps.com/Newsletter.html) and one of our members posted that she was disappointed in her White StazOn pad because it did not look opaque and sorta disappeared on cardstock. If I recall correctly, she was miffed because Tsukineko (the manufacturer) wrote her back and said that it performed well on non-porous materials as it said on their website. Since paper is generally porous, they did not feel it was a manufacturing issue or defect in the pad as she claimed.

I could have the story a bit wrong but that's how I remember it.

Yes, on paper it looks similar to the Pigment pad. However, I didn't purchase it to use on paper. I purchased it to use on dominos and glass.

If you just want to use it on paper, stick with the SU Craft pad in white.

I've been less than thrilled with the results on paper. I picked this pad up on on Monday at HL...gotta love the sale! I was anxioius to get it home and play (ok, that sounds pretty pathetic, I do have a life, really!) Anyway, I was disappointed. Have yet to try it on a non-porous surface. Must say though, I don't regret the purchase, because I got it for $2.50!! It had no pricetag on it and when the checker called back to the stamp department the gal said it was normally 4.99, so take 50% off that. Score!

Disappointed on paper, but think I'll like it on non-pourous surfaces.

WOW it was about $10.00 here full price, so $5 half-price! I had a bit of birthday money left & used it on a few inks that SU doesn't have. Got another brand that has white in a dye ink, hoping it would dry fast & still look good. I think I'll be sticking w/ craft white & waiting for it to dry. My kids might get that one. It was about $2 on sale.

The retail price of the pad is 10.00 - 11.00. I bought mine at AC Moore, it was 10.90 there but I used a 50% off coupon. I just returned from a rubber stamp show and the price averaged 11.00. The pad is meant for non pourous surfaces like glass, plastic, ceramic, acetate, etc. It looks great on acetate, especially when you use a background stamp and place it over colored cardstock. As Michelle pointed out, if you want to use it on paper use Stampin' Up!'s Craft White or a white pigment pad like Brilliance or Colorbox.
