I am trying to decide if I want to use CD cases or envelopes for my unmounted stamps. If I use CD cases do you know of a good place to get them cheap. I read Rima on here but they are sold out. Also if you put the name on the spine of them do you have it formatted on your computer? Any advise would be appreciated. And if you like envelopes better please say why.
I got mine from Staples $11.99 for 24 standard CD cases. I don't know if there are any cheaper. Office Depot doesn't carry them (at least not here). As far as the spine, I just cut a piece of paper to fit (1/4 by about 4 3/4) and wrote the name of the set on it, then used my ATG (1/4 tape) over the writing to stick to the inside of the spine. Does that make sense?
Thanks for the tips both of you! Our K-mart had the $2.99 for 10 but that is still about .10 per case cheaper than the $9.99 for 25 at office max. Anyone else know of any other good online places?
I gave up on the CD cases early on because they were not large enough (had to use 2 cases for many of my sets) and the hinges broke almost immediately.
I've tried many different boxes, binders and containers for my um rubber and clear sets and recently went back to a tried and true system- envelopes. I describe my system and have photos on my blog on these posts:
We have a Yahoo group where I live called Freecycle.......I posted a WANTED and got many CD cases......free! People give stuff away, I just had to stop by and pick them up.
I still like Rima for the pricing...if you can hold on, I'm sure they will be back in stock and I like that I can get them without the inserts. You can label the spines in Word, using the option for CD spine. HTH

Do you use any special labels to use the CD option in word? I found this site that says they will match any online price. I will share any cheaper ones I find.

I knew if I hunted around long enough I would find your suggestion. Why I didn't just e-mail you I'll never know...great idea. I am UNMOUNTING (yay) and find the SU version of the DVD Case too expensive. I was also thinking about using my old Creative Memories accessory binders & pages too. Just ordered some!

Sorry I should have added the link. Here it is in case anyone else wants it.

I just print it out on white card stock and cut it up. Apply them with glue dots to the spine of the case. Just remember that the dots have to go on the printed side of label.
I just got 40 of the new cases from SU for about $50. They are fantastic for my unmounted sets and they fit in a tower CD holder, they are larger than a CD case so they hold more, and wont come unhinged... very nice quality. Since I use the image sticker on the other side of my stamps, I can see through the case and see exactly what I have.
Those cases at Rima are they larger than normal CD cases? I like CD cases but like someone else said they are just too small, and I am not willing to shell out over 1.00 a case for the SU larger ones. Any good online sites for larger size?
Okay so I see Rima has these DVD cases would they work with that hub for the DVD or would that get in the way? Does anyone sell DVD cases without the spot for the actual DVD? http://www.rima.com/prod/6161
I had all my unmounted stamps in CD cases and then read where after some time they (the stamps) won't stick on the acrylic block anymore. The company that makes EZ Mount has verified this. All mine weren't losing their stickiness, but some were. I really didn't want the added expense of redoing all the EZ Mount. It would be time consuming and expensive. So I just bought a box of 10x12 white envelopes (I ended up buying 3 boxes), stamp the stamps on the outside, put them on a sheet of glossy cardstock and I'm done. Doesn't take up much room, & can see them easily. I just gave 140 of the CD cases to the Good Will.

If you just wash the stamps with EZMount in some warm soapy water the 'stickiness' comes back. I have had my stamps in CD cases for over 5 years and haven't had a problem with any of the one's with EZMount sticking to my blocks.
Michelle, I would think that the 'hub' would get in the way of putting the stamps in there on EZMount and would eventually possibly 'dent' the rubber. Although, I can't really tell how deep that 'hub' is. JMHO.
Thanks Jeri, that was what I was thinking also, I guess I could go out and see if one of my daughters movies has a case like that and try it out and see
If anyone wants some CD cases without inserts. I got a shipment of 200 from rima and I dont need about 150 of them. I can fit like 30 or 35 in a flat rate priority box for $10.30 if anyone wants a box just for the cost of shipping...
PM me if you do, I would love to get rid of some of them.
blessings.
Somebody else mentioned SU DVD cases but the cost was out of this world for something like that, over a buck a piece, would love to find them at a more reasonable price.
the trouble I found with regular CD cases is that they were too thin to hold my unmounted stamps....I like the ones from SU, and there is a template on here you can print out to insert with your stamp set. I just buy a couple packs a month...that's all i have time to unmount anyway.

The way I justified it to myself (I'm good at this) is that I would have loaded my cart up if I had seen these at the dollar store and thrown in some other items and spent $50.00. Insted I ordered them during SAB (I know it's over...sniff) and got a free stamp set. I'll tell you that 40 boxes are a lot when they come in the su box. I'm going to order another $50 with at the next special.
