Hey...just curious...if one were to sign with SU tomorrow, would you need $300 in quarterly sales to stay active by 12/31 or is your first quarter waived?
Your first quarter is waived, because it's partial. So you don't need to meet the sales quota until 3/31/12! And any of your orders also count toward the quota. So, if you take advantage of the extra 10% discount in the first 45 days, as long as it's over $150, that order amount will count toward the sales quota. Hope that makes sense for you!
Karen, there's no penalty if you decide to drop the demoship later. You can still enjoy everything that came with your starter kit and the free Big Shot or the free $100 in products! I signed up last year during the big promo. Never thought I would last a couple of quarters. But, it's sure been lots of fun, and I'm still here! So go ahead and try it. You have only 2 more weeks to sign up!
Go for it! I signed up last fall when there was a good promotion, and have managed to make my minimums. I love getting access to the newest catalogues early! I am pretty new to this hobby, and the extra discount has allowed me to outfit my stamp room with some pretty nice stuff.
Did you know that you can swap out items from the demo kit? You can really customize what you get.

Why does the sale have to be over $150? Do sales under $150 not count against your quarter sales figures?
An order of any size (except for supplies such as catalogs) will count towards your quota. I think she meant that it needs to be over $150 to
a. get hostess benefits
b. count for your extra 10% commission on first workshop order

Sorry, after I typed that, I knew I would get questioned. That wasn't very clear, was it? Thanks to Kim, for explaining what was in my head. ANY amount of order will count toward your quota. The over $150 was in regards to taking advantage of the extra 10% discount on the first over $150 order within 45 days of signing up as a demo.
To everyone thinking about this deal... JUST DO IT! The kit is customizable, so even if you have some stuff already, you can switch things out to whatever is on your wishlist. Then you get the free Big Shot or another free $100 in products. More things off your wishlist. Then, within 45 days, place another order (either your own, or via workshop to get the 30% as commission!) that's $150+ for the full benefit.
Oh, did anyone tell you you get an extra 15% off one item during your birth month?
Oh, oh, and first week of November, SU is having a workshop-a-thon. So if you participate and have a workshop between 11/1 and 11/8, report it, you get a free gift. Then with a qualifying workshop (over $400 in orders) you get a chance at a drawing for even more free stuff!
And then you will get sneak peeks to and able to order from the new Occasions Catalog on 12/1!!!!! And Sale-a-bration starts end of January. Best promotion of the year for customers. I'm sure you won't have any troubles meeting your quota by end of March.
All of this during your "trial period". Seriously, no lose situation here. Just do it!
$175. The value of the kit is over $340, plus the $100 free, it's $175 for $440 of stuff! You can check out what's in the kit HERE. In case you can't open it, I've also attached the form.
remember your 1st demo order you get 30% off. so go through the catalog slowly. look at what you already have. i like to consider the back half of the catalog. you will be using more embellishments & paper now.

Just to clarify it's your first demo order (so basically you get a 30% instead of 20% discount) OR workshop order (30% income instead of 20%) OVER $150 within the first 45 days I think, there is a time limit. You can place as many orders under that price point as you want and you'll get the regular 20%. So, you can get some small supply orders if you need to without worrying about wasting your bigger percentage.
Annie, and everyone...thank you for all of the information. I will be out of town until next week, so I'll have to act quickly next week. Sarah Beth, how did you choose your demo to sign under? Or did you just let the company pick one for you?

Hi Karen,
I have a local demonstrator who I have been buying supplies from and attending classes with. She is wonderful, and I really wanted to become a part of her team. That's how I had decided.

The company will not pick one for you. You must find someone to sign up under. I'd search your location and then meet with them and see who seems to be the right fit or at least call and chat with them on the phone if you'll be gone!
I ummed and ahhed about it for so long, but it was a fab decision and I have no regrets! Enjoy the starter kit, and don't forget to join the Demo side here, it's fab!

I've been thinking about this for awhile, but wasn't sure I wanted to stick with only SU!. I do card classes (similar to a stamp camp) for a few friends and my mom's friends about 3 times a year. I'm also going to be my best customer....
I think the fact that I could modify the starter kit (I already own 99% of what's in it) and the extra $100 this month is what made me decide to do it.
Can't wait til next week when hubby's check comes in so I can order my modified starter kit with all the extra goodies~!

As long as we are on this topic I signed up last fall too and thought I'd drop after a few quaters. I'm still hanging on! One question for an experienced demo. When we go to our page on the SU site it always says I need $300.00. Isn't it $240.00 with the 20% discount?
I've been cut back one day a week and I'm not sure if I'll make my minimum this time. It's been nice but if I can't i won't worry too much about it. I'm soooo thankful to have a good paying job that I love even if I'm taking a bit of a hit in the pocketbook!

The $300 quota is retail. Everything goes by retail, since it is easy to calculate and tax rates differ. So yes, your actual cost will be lower, but the orders need to total $300 retail before shipping and tax.
How much longer does this special go on for? When is it over? TIA.
Yeah, like Minders said, it's until 10/31/11. HOWEVER, I would also recommend NOT waiting until the very last moment. I would sign up over the weekend at the latest, in case there's any issues, and you can still call Demo Support on Monday, the 31st. Karen, JUST DO IT!
