A friend of mine had a product that I used the other day and she doesn't know what it is called. I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know what this might be named? I have been searching online for it for about an hour now and can't seem to find it anywhere!
The link below is to a tin that I made using the product. It has directions on how to use it and you can see the irredescent places in the picture on the tin where I used it (top left and bottom right).
The product itself is a very thin roll of irredescent film about 6" wide. It isn't Fantasy Film or Masking Magic. I have no clue what it is but I want some desperately so I can make Christmas gifts using it! If you have any suggestions, please post them. Thank you in advance for any ideas. They are all much appreciated.
Not foil, lol. It is clear. You can see thru it - it is clear, with iridescent swirls thru it. You just lay it on something sticky (versamark) and smudge and off it comes. If you crinkle it enough or wad it up it flakes off and then you just have a clear piece of very thin plastic like stuff. It isn't as thick as acetate. Sort of the same stuff as Fantasy Film, but it comes off easily whereas the FF does not.
Thank you for your suggestion! I am grabbing for anything at the moment. haha
I think I saw this as a featured item at www.addictedtorubberstamps.com recently. But I searched all over the site this weekend and can't find it (but did manage to spend some money myself). I can't recall the name either...
Without even looking at your link the description you have given reminds me of what you have to do with gold leaf/leafing. It is very thin and comes off on something sticky and has a carrier paper that is removed once you have applied the leafing.
Maybe you could try something like irredescent leafing in a search.
A while back I bought something at a scrapbooking show called Tonertex FOILS which used a special glue type pen (pen wasn't worth pooh) and once the glue turned clear you press the foil on top then peel it off. It is really neat but a shame that the pen didn't hold up. This is probably not what you are looking for but the website is www.bonash.com if you want to check it out.
I know I did pick up some "stuff" at an art supply store awhile back, called "Irridescent Ice" or something like that. It's like thick glue with irridescent flakes in it. It looked really cool but I never really figured out what to do with it, lol. If I can find it I'll check it out. It came in a small cello bag, looks like ragged sheets of the stuff, sort of how mica flakes come.
WOW!!! Thanks everyone!!! I did a search on the JONES TONES FOIL that Julie just posted and the translucent mother-of-pearl at the bottom of the page on the left is the closest to it. You can actually see THRU the stuff that I am talking about. It isn't thick like paint either..... I don't know how else to describe it. I am going to have to bug my friend to death until she either hunts this stuff down for me or remembers it.... it is going to drive me nuts.
You gals sure come up with some interesting products! I've found some fun stuff on the sites you've sent me to. Pretty neat stuff out there. Thanks so much for helping me out and keep em' coming. I'm enjoying the hunt. Never know what cool stuff we might come up with. TY!!!
