Hi,
I'll be in the Dallas area for a convention and staying at the Gaylord in Grapevine. While there, I'd like to visit a local shop with a good selection of rubber stamps. Can you recommend one for me? Thanks!

There's Scrapbook Warehouse in either Lewisville or Southlake (about same distance in opposite directions from Grapevine). There's Recollections in Plano, not really close but possibly worth the drive. Will you have a taxi or rental car? There isn't really a special rubber stamp store in the area. We have Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Joann.
BTW, downtown Grapevine is a must walk-through if you have the time.

Scrapbook Warehouse(214) 488-17002440 S Stemmons Fwy Ste B, Lewisville
Scrapbook Warehouse(817) 656-49055611 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville
Scrapbook Warehouse(972) 791-29634545 Fuller Dr, Irving http://www.recollectionsonline.com/ - the North Richland Hills location might be closer than Frisco from Grapevine.
The ScrapBucket on Custer Road in Plano (45 minutes drive) is super fun. No rubber stamps to speak of, but they empty packages of embellishments into buckets on tables (sorted by category and color) and you can buy them individually. For instance, you can buy just the right number of the letter A that you need or you can buy only the prettiest flowers or count out the exact number of blue eyelets that you will need and only pay for those.
There is a rubber stamp store in Plano called Stamp Asylum. It tends to lean a little bit more toward artistic stamps, but I haven't been there in quite a while. It's a small store, but it is packed tightly with stuff! Here's the link.

That's my favorite, as well. My other favorite (hey, I can have two, right?) is The Scrapbook Barn in Carrollton - a really nice layout and they have Bellas!
I agree with everyone above! Here's a suggestion on driving though - if you're going to try either Stamp Asylum or Scrap Bucket, you can just go to both as they're not that far apart. I also suggest going to the Hobby Lobby and Michael's on 15th and Alma in Plano, as those are literally across the street from each other and not far from either Stamp Asylum or Scrap Bucket. Both stores are different - Stamp Asylum has lots of stamps, inks, and coloring stuff (embossing powder, glitter mist, etc...) but not much in the way of paper or embellishments. Scrap Bucket doesn't have a lot of stamps or inks, but has tons of paper and embellishments. And, they have my love - the buckets. I can get lost in the buckets and buckets of embellishments. Both places have a super nice and knowledgeable staff. Have fun!
I should give you a highway in the directions - 15th Street is an exit off of US-75 (aka Central Expressway). The Hobby Lobby and Micheal's are on 15th maybe 1/4 mile West of Central Expressway.
If you are staying at the Gaylord, the closest store will be the Scrapbook Pad located on Hwy. 26(5611 Colleyville Blvd.)817-656-4905. They do not have a very good selection of stamps but have about anything else you would want. It is only about a 15 minute drive from the Gaylord. The Hobby Lobby(10 minute drive) has a good selection of stamps from several different companies. Also within 10 minutes of the Gaylord is a Michael's and JoAnn's.
Recollections is a great store but it too only has a small selection of stamps but tons of wonderful other stuff.
If you have other questions, I live in the area and would be glad to help......just PM me.
One more fantabulous place...a bit further south is Imprints in Fort Worth. Their website is pretty bare, but their inventory is OUTSTANDING! http://www.imprintstamp.com/
If you have a car run don't walk to Imprints stamps in Fort Worth.
It will be worth the drive. I go there from Plano. I have shopped at ScrapBucket...not much in the way of stamps. I like Stamp Asylum, but there selection is more limited than Imprints- which is wall to wall stamps! The Scrapbook Warehouse in Lewisville also has a limited selection of stamps.
There is also a Recollections in Arlington if you go the Fort Worth route.
Wow! Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll have a rental car, so I'll definitely try imprints. Wall to wall stamps, huh? We don't have a Hobby Lobby here in California that I know of, so I'll probably get to that too! I'm suddenly really, really looking forward to my trip!
Yep, those are closed but the others are still open. Make sure to check out Stamp Asylum (in Plano) and Recollections (Frisco is the closest I think). Recollections is closing, but I've heard they'll be starting to clearance the day after Christmas.
It's owned by them but it's wayyyy better. More of a specialty store with Primas, awesome embellishments, a Wall O Ribbon, great alterables, and tons of paper.
There's actually a Recollections not very far from the Gaylord. It's just down the road about 3 miles from the Scrapbook Pad at the intersection of Highway 26 (also called Northwest Hightway) and Precinct Line Road. It's in a shopping center with Kohls. It's one of my favorite Recollections in the area.
There is also a brand new store that just opened in McKinney called Scrappin' Bunnies. McKinney is not very far from Plano, about 15 minutes straight North on I75. Here is her website in case you are interested.
If you've never been to Hobby Lobby, I think you should definitely visit one. Hobby Lobby stores have a clean, wholesome feel that other big craft stores don't. I love Hobby Lobby!
