Yes, you have the right idea. The cling stamps are usually rubber on the image side, and attached to a cushioned backing which has the pic of the image on it. The backing will "cling" to an acrylic block, similar to the way clear stamps stick to the block. When you are done, you take them off the block and store them like you do clear stamps.
They are usually much cheaper than wood mounted stamps, but a little more costly than clear ones.
I tend to like the clear better because I can get better placement that way, but I have some cling stamps.
