When you give someone a pack of cards as a gift, how do you present them?
I just learned to make the purse on the T & T board, and I really like that, but I also want to learn how to make different boxes and things...just wondering how you guys do it? Do you buy the boxes that SU! sells and use those? If so, which ones??
I made several sets of notecards as Christmas gifts for family members, friends and teachers. I packaged them in clear heavy plastic staionary boxes and tied them with ribbon. You can see them here:
A few years ago I was given a set of cards in a folder made out of cardstock. She had stamped images all over one side of a piece of cardstock (for the outside). Then she scored it about 2 inches from the bottom, folded it up and attached the edges. (I've done it since using monoadhesive.) Then fold it down the middle and you have your own folder. You can use a punch on the middle of the sides to have something to lace ribbon through to close it. This is SUPER simple but doesn't hold too many cards. I just like it because it's always at hand and FAST! You can also coordinate the outside to match the cards inside if it's a matched set.
Tracy- I feel like a dufus, but is there anyway you can post a template or email me one, I just usually dont understand how to do things like this unless I can see them =)
Like you say she scored it 2" from the bottom, which was was the cardstock?? And how did she fold it in the middle?? I REALLY would like to be able to make my own boxes or bags or whatever for giving cards, makes me feel more creative! =)
And how many cards will fit in one of those thing? 4? 6?
I make a bag to match one of the cards that are in the bunch I sell or give away. I get those white bags at JoAnns with the handle. My DH made me a neat box to slide inside, so I can stamp all four sides. I tie it shut with matching ribbon and a matching tag, which I leave blank, in case they want to reuse the bag. I also put 2 layers of matching tissue (2 colors) inside. Everyone seems to like the bags. I used to make boxes....I have several templates which I bought or made.....but they take much longer than the bags to make.
I put the cards themselves into one of SU's clear gusset bags, fold over, and tape down to put inside the tissue in the bag. I make these as gift packs, or if someone buys cards from me (I have a little hobby business stamping cards), if they buy 12 cards, they get a free bag. HTH
Thanks Sue! I AM looking for ways that I can 'do it on my own'...so that is great!!
I would also like to find more templates for making my own 'presentation containers' whether they be boxes, folders, 'purses' whatever! But I REALLY need a template/picture to go off of and not all the things in the T & T forum have a good template to work with =(
Beautiful boxes that work perfectly are available at www.clearenvelopes.com The description is BX29--4 7/8 x 6 5/8 x 1 1/4
and they are 40 cents each. I put my cards in one of these boxes and tie up with ribbon. I donate 10 boxes of cards to be auctioned at a yearly private school scholarship fund raiser and I am convinced the boxes make them look much more inviting.
