Default Pottery Barn Inspired Holiday Gifts & Home Decor Projects

I came across these beautiful music pillar candles & paper stars in the current Pottery Barn holiday catalog. I knew that I could easily re-create them. I wanted them for around the house but they would make a lovely holiday gift as well. The best part is that they are very inexpensive to make. I purchased a white candle from the dollar store to make this project.

The candles are done by stamping a music background stamp on tissue paper and "aging" the tissue paper with Distress inks (you can just leave it white or go with a cream base too). You can find tutorials online for making the paper stars. I stamped cream colored paper with the same music background stamp and once again "aged" the paper with ink.

I bought those paper stars from Pottery Barn - love 'em. Great job. If you think of it, post the link for making them.

I was also inspired by Pottery Barn's ornaments this year and made this one.

Pottery Barn's style is so vintage scrapbook this year - anyone else inspired to create?

You can just do a search online for origami paper stars. There are tons of tutorials. You can find one that has good pictures as part of the tutorial for you to follow.

There are always PB ornaments that catch my attention. They do a nice job. So did you on your ornament.

Same goes for me.

I actually much prefered the "redone" ones to the company originals. Beautiful projects.

These are wonderful! I love the stamped candles. Never thought of using a music background. Amazing projects!

I actually bought some aged music decorative paper to re-create these same candles. Why didn't I think of the tissue paper technique?!??! Thanks for sharing your techniques.
