Default Postcards instead of regular cards

Does anyone send postcards at Christmas instead of regular cards?
My friend is recently retired and said she would like to send some, but of course, could not find any. I thought I might try to make some for her.
I know I will need a waterproof ink--what kind?
Does embossing warp the paper--need hints here

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

I remember receiving a few Christmas postcards, but that was probably 25 years ago and they were not handmade. Blessings to you as you help your friend.

I made postcards for DH's grandmother to send out for Christmas a couple of years ago at her request. I used glossy cardstock because I wanted a more durable cardstock. I also chose glossy because, with no layering or embellishments to dress it up, I thought the glossy helped to make them look a little nicer. I used regular dye-based inks, no layers, no embellishments, and no embossing. From what I understand, they all went through the mail fine.

I'll try to find one of them and scan it so you can see what I did.
