Today I went to the post office to mail 1 priority package and a box being sent priority that was weight and I was given a quote on postage this past friday.
I got to the OP today ,not only did stamps go up but priority envelopes and boxes went up 5 cents. Plus the package I received a quote on last friday of $8.70 went up to $9.90.
The PO clerk didn't even know about the additional postal increases. They were only told that stamps were going up 1 cent. She was so upset for me about the additional postage cost from last friday's quote. She kept apologizing to me. I told her it wasn't her fault. She felt so bad because that was a big increase in postage from the quote I received.

I have lived in countries where the post office officials had to be bribed to even accept a letter to be mailed and there was no guarantee the letter would be delivered. The USA has one of the best, safest, most reliable postal systems there is. Yes, this is my opinion. I believe it is fact.
Whether it is for sympathy or happiness and joy, sending a hand-made cards is well worth the price of the USPS first class postage. The price of everything keeps going up. In my area, gasoline just jumped eight cents a gallon. A penny increase in postage seems okay.
Interesting perspective. Can you share countries where this happens?
Funny I was just talking to Dh the other day while waiting in line at the PO to send a box about how they used to be able to run the business on far lower postage when they did not have computers etc to help bring down costs and less people with expensive benefits....and he pointed out that our Fed is pulling billions out of them every year. At least Canada and Denmark get medical.
Linda-that is SO cool about the BC stamps....do we know for sure all the money is given away? And to whom? And yay for being a survivor!
I look online for stamps because often my local station does not have the pretty ones. So I just order online and they come in the mail. Does not cost more.
I guess I am the weirdo who likes the penguin.
What I was surprised about--apparently now sending Priority was only 50 cents more than parcel post for my box (over 1 pound?) What? That seemed wrong. I thought the clerk was wrong so I went online to look but no...she was right. And they changed it from over 16 ozs to 13? And it was 10.85 to send it from NYC to FL. That feels like a lot but from what I am reading here-maybe not in comparison.
I look at it this way. If I were to pay for gas and other expenses to deliver it myself, its a bargain to mail it! LOL I haven't seen any penguins. I bought a roll of 100 before the price went up. And sending a regular card to canada is $1.15 for me.
I like the penguin too! And I LOVED your Peanuts Christmas stamps from two years back, several people make a point of using them when they send me cards even yet .
