 Here are my humble submissions to the shrine of ugliness. Even the fact that these were my beginning stamper/cardmaker days is no defense, because... <ahem>... ... one of the "hats" I wear at work is web designer. Being a pro didn't save me from my follies.
One is called, "Look, Ma, I have curvy scissors and I can tear paper!"
It's stamp twin is... "Watercolor Garden Speckle Sneeze."
The other card is... well, I made it for a friend based on a short period story she was writing. I just call it "Oh, ow!"
Avert your eyes, ladies! And Bluebear... "Could I 'ave been a contenduh?"
Oh my....where to start? Have you learned about masking since then?
Wow, what a fun thread. I was looking for some of the cards I made way back when.. but they are on the other computer and I had to move it from one room to another upstairs and didn't get it hooked back up to the cable so I can view it on this computer ~ so I looked through what I had one this one. I made this card last October.. I don't know what I was thinking and after I finished it, I wished I hadn't even started on it. EEK!!!
Pam
Wow! That's something else! Have you seen those caramel apple suckers? Where you thinking about one when you made this?
I don't want to dis the card or the patriotic theme, but that's what got me about the card too, was the strong contrast between the smacked bg and the photorealistic (kinda psycho yet still kinda confused-looking) dog just got me.
Here are my two entries, made with a shortage of time and trying to use up that #$^! blue value paper pack from Mikes. Some very kind folks commented on them, but honest the only reason they are in my gallery is so my DH can see what 'we' gave his dad and my niece for cards. That electric turquoise is a frig to use, btw.
I'd like to declare Bluebear the winner and award her the prize....What is the prize, stargirl? Maybe everyone RAK her with a card that we don't consider our ugliest, or should we have everyone send her a card that we made with tin foil. This could be a new SCS challenge!
I was planning to send her my glitter extravaganza, that way she'll have something to aspire to!! But I'm game for your idea also. Someone else mentioned we could send the winner our ugly supplies that's a good idea also! This thread has taken on a life of its own, so you guys have to help me decide!!
ROTFL it really is an ugly rubbah set! What were we thinking buying it?
Does anyone remember its real name? It's one of those early sets before I saw a need to put the set name label on the case, and even though I still have all my old catalogs, I can't find it. It's almost like it's so ashamed it even existed that it edited itself out! I know "Watercolor Garden" is another set entirely, but that's how I've come to think of it.
If you mean your purple one, it was called Painted Garden. It was a Sell-A-Bration set in 2003. I never did like that set either...
Now quite a few of you cannot even come close to competing with Bluebears, the foil one and the umm...strip card(whatever you want to call it). I agree with Bluebear. You are all ugly cards wanna be but cant even come close!
Now i will humble submit my works of art (ahem-ART!) knowing I cannot compete with the likes of those 3 ladies :
I'm sorry Lillian, I may not have started this thread so perhaps I don't qualify to speak, but I'm afraid your cards don't qualify for this award. They are not ugly. I actually think they're kind of cute. Not bad esp. for a very beginning stamper.

Oh my, Illinois Marge...you should warn viewers to don sunglasses before enlarging your thumbnail. I almost got whiplash from throwing my head back from the glare.
Jessrose21! Wow! You are definately right up there with Stargirl and Blubear with your card only a mom could love.
Marionad, you humble me with your guts for posting these cards.
My thanks to all participants for a hilarious thread!
Yeah...what she said!
No road act for me. thought about it for a while until DH said "honey do you want to be a drunk comedian living in hotels and bars and be divorced?" i used to only really be funny when I drank...now I don't drink so much.
I haven't found the J bra yet....but I do have more foil....and I think I killed the deportation thread in CE so I might be off the hook there!
Some excellent new entries this morning. Who needs coffee! I think I am going to make that potatoe head card my wallpaper for a while.
Oh, Lillian in texas....I'm speechless (almost). Your first two cards are indeed truely ugly. You deserve AT LEAST honorable mention for them. The others aren't nearly ugly enough.
Tashers, I just took another look at your Potato Head card and you are in the top three IMHO.
Thank you, all! My face hurts from all the laughing as I read this thread. (I originally typed "my cheeks hurt..." but then thought that might be misinterpreted given the pumpkin-in-a-thong discussion!)

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

That's it! That's it! Sell-A-Bration... no wonder I couldn't find it in my IB&C collection. Thanks, IL Marge! Makes me wonder, though... 2003 was a year when I wasn't ordering enough yet to get all Sell-A-Bration sets. How bad were the other sets that I thought Painted Garden was the best of the worst? Or did I just have a style sneeze day when I ordered that?

Oh my....where to start? Have you learned about masking since then?
ROTFLMBO!!! Sadly, I knew about masking when I made those. For the Watercolor Painted Garden accidents, I was just too darned lazy. For the nasty medieval "Ow!" card, it was supposed to be this really artsy interpretation of daydreams - transparent layers of different musings, memories, wishes, hopes, etc - all taken from my friend's short story. It ended up being just plain WRONG.

Um, AmorA, what is that "thang" coming out of that flower. Must be why they call flower stamens the "male" part of flowers...Bwah ha ha!
ROTFL!!! I hadn't even realized the stamen was stamped backwards with the outty pointing inny until you said this! I have tears rolling down my face I'm laughing so hard!!

Now that color combo isn't too terribly horrific when stamped in that collage. But put the matching pink and orange cardstock together, and my eyes are still seeing spots!
I like the second one! The only thing I can find off on the first is that the two shades of pink clash. If you had used the mat pink only, it would be really cute!

Ladies,
This card was one that I made at my second workshop that I ever attended yet was one that I hosted. The demostrator didn't even make a card for us to copy so we were free to create what we wanted. After this one, I wonder why I ever thought I was good enough to become a demo. Needless to say my first workshop (different demostrator from the 2nd one) I ever attended had the best demostrator ever so I signed under her. The rest is history.....
OMG!!!!!!!!! Ladies....you have made my day!!! I don't think that I have ever read 6 funnier pages!!! And, yes...I have sooooooooooo many entries that I could add!! (but I never uploaded them....I am ashamed to admit that I did send them out...have photos of them but since it is Sunday, I'll have to wait for another day to add to this marvelous collection!!!)
It must have been you I've swapped with at convention and regionals. Your cards look awfully familiar.
Sibylle
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! "Awfully" familiar!!!!!!!!!!
Uhhhhhhh...what does it say about me....that I found several of my saved favorites in this thread?
I don't think I will ever get over the tinfoil roses. There has never been such a versatile card! You could use it to cook fish on the grill! You could use it to line a baking pan for easy clean up! My grandfather could have wrapped it around his rabbit ears on the TV to get perfect reception of Gunsmoke! It's more than a card - Blubear, have you applied for a patent or a copyright or something on it?
