I usually make simple cards with a few layers but lately I have been using some sketch challenges to help me get into adding more layers as I love the look of these cards. My only thing is that I have a hard time fitting the layers on a 4.25 by 5.5 inch card. Do people typically use a bigger card size when creating with lots of layer?
I did an A9 size this week, which is larger than any other card I've done so far. (Here's a link, if you're interested: B-A-B-Y Animals by Crafts.) It measures 5.5 x 8.5. There was just no way to fit it into an A2 size.
I've bookmarked this helpful post by cardsbynikki. It gives all the dimensions for the various "A" sizes. Forums at Splitcoaststampers
I find the challenges here work very well for A2, but certainly with the MFT challenges I sometimes need to move up a size to accommodate my image on the main panel. I don't do a lot of matting, so that probably makes it easier to fit on a smaller card, too.
My Goldilocks size is A7, 5 x 7. Not too big, not too small. I want enough room to include multiple elements. The leftover strips are nice for using border punches (nice with glitter?) on.
Besides, when do you ever see commerical greeting cards using the A-2 size? So un-impressive!
