Default Pop top cans...ever have this problem?

I want to make these for a second grade class at Easter. Has anyone ever had a problem with a child cutting themselves on the edge after pulling the top off? Love the idea but while mentioning it to another parent, she was super worried about the edges. I didn't picture hands going in, I pictured contents being dumped out. What do you think?

Sounds like the potential is there for an injury. I would certainly discuss it with the teacher first for her feelings on it.

I think this is a definite possibility. I cut myself on a top as I was pulling it off and required an emergency room visit and several stitches. Those things are very hazardous!

I would make sour cream containers instead just to be safe. IMO, it shouldn't be such a big deal but you know, things do happen and we are a sue happy society so play it safe instead.

BTW, I think the sour cream pouches are just the cutest little things too!!

I think it depends on the can opener you use. If it is a smooth cut you should be fine, although dealing with kids you never know. My DS would touch it in just a way that it would cut him, just because I told him it wouldn't. I agree talk to the teacher and show her what you are planning on doing then maybe she can give you the go ahead. Scoutpup has a good idea with the sourcream containers! Those are so cute!
