Default Place cards ~ how to price?

I've been asked by a friend to make the place setting cards for her son's wedding rehearsal dinner. I'm not sure exactly what she has in mind (she's coming over on Friday to discuss her options), but I'm thinking something very simple ~ probably just a small 'table talker' - using an EF for the top, and perhaps the person's name punched out, double mounted and popped up on the bottom. Border it with the primary wedding color.

How in the world would I price something like this? I sell a lot of cards (both greeting and monogrammed notecard sets), so I'm comfortable pricing them in my market, but to price something like this in volume has me scratching my head.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Kat

Hi Kat
I think that once she has decided on a design and what she actually wants then you will have to figure out the cost of materials you will need to complete the projects.
Once you do that figure out how long it will take to make one and multiply that by the amount you have to do. Or estimate the time it will take to complete the projects.
How much do you charge for your time is up to you but what ever that amount is per hour - multiply that by the hours (hours to complete project multiplied by your hourly rate) then add that to your materials cost. That is what you should charge.

Thx, Annette! My daughter suggested the same thing...she used to work for a custom stationary store and she said they priced everything individually, then multiplied it to cover the job.

I appreciate your response. Have a great day!
