I also have tried to keep up with reading all the legalities. I totally understand that artists would not want to pin their original artwork....but for me....I pin things that are already on the web. I really try not to "re-pin" from someone else's board but to go to the original link and then pin from there. My husband's understanding from reading about it is that the legal issues are mainly that the pins themselves should link to the original so that credit for the item, photo, etc. is properly shown.
I am finding more and more blogs having the pin it buttons on them. (at least some of the food ones). Even the pillsbury site (with the recipes) have the pin it button
Use the above to figure out what creation of yours got pinned.
Well THAT's pretty cool. I just tried it and never realized how much from my blog has been pinned!
Personally I think it's a compliment and I agree that the "well-known stamper" the OP is referring to shouldn't be sharing on the internet then if they consider "pinning" to be "stealing".
The original creator should be given full credit of course
Thanks for sharing this. I was not going to use Pinterest to drive traffic to my blogs but then it appeared to be the direction it was going so I jumped on the "promotional" bandwagon. But what I really liked it for was as a visual bookmarking tool to "clip and save" recipes, home and garden ideas, etc., and follow and share with others who have similar interests.
But it has become overcomplicated already and this article really shed some light on possible ramifications for me. As with many other things in life, I'm simplifying and I can do without the potential headaches. I think I can manage just fine without it.
From Pinterest's facebook page: Over the last few weeks, weve been working on an update to our Terms. Wed encourage you to read these changes in their entirety, but there are a few changes worth noting which you can read about here!

I have since deleted my pinterest account and it is because of their terms of use...
the way I understand it now, is although I am flattered to find my own cards pinned,
the terms of use read...
you claim ownership of anything you pin...
( doesn't matter if it links to the source) this way, because pinterest reserves the right to SELL any content that is Pinned... if they decided to sell something you pinned down the line and the person who holds that copy right decides to say something all pinterest has to do is point the finger at you and say so and so pinned it and claims responsibility...
scroll down till you hit the "member content" paragraph.... then scroll back up and read the paragraph above that... until they change these terms it really is not a good idea to pin things ( anything ) is my gut thought so I have deleted my account and I have blocked pins from being able to be made on my personal blog.
Wow. I thought the idea of putting stuff on Pinterest was so that others would pin the stuff you upload.
Did you tell the designer that you weren't stealing, but pinning her items so that others can see her beautiful work?
I haven't figured out how to use Pinterest. For instance, I see a food item that I'd love to make, but it's been pinned so many times that I can't find the original source with the recipe.
I've not spent much time with my Pinterest account. Is there a "how to" section?

Oh wait ... I bet the designer is upset that you took photos from her blog and put them on Pinterest. Hmmm... I can see where she should be thrilled but can also understand why she might not. She may think that your pinning is passing on her item, but not redirecting back to her blog and giving her credit.
I agree, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to pin something.

If you pin it from the original site and tell people where you got it, then I don't think that is stealing. I've seen a lot of crafting blogs that have the "pin it" button on their pages. You might want to suggest to that card designer to see about making her page unpinnable. For scrapbooking and card making ideas, I alway pin from the original website. If you click on the pin it takes right to the original site.
