I bought a couple of sets of papertrey stamps because I love their design. The smaller ones stamp a great image, however the large ones (such as the solid butterfly) don't stamps the whole image. An example would be that the large solid butterfly will have a large 'spot' in the middle of the stamped image where there is no ink. I have tried to press down harder on the block while stamping but this does not work. Any advice?
I have to say that SU! rubber mounted stamps work a whole lot better.
Are you stamping on a solid surface? Sounds silly, but I was having problem getting full ink coverage because the table I was staming on actually bowed down each time I pressed down to stamp. I got a new desk and it makes all the difference.
With my acrylic stamps I've found that pigment inks always work better for me than dye. This might help also. Also placing a mousepad or some of those sheets of fun foam from Michaels under your cardstock can help.
I also LIGHTLY sand my acrylics (or use a white pencil eraser) to make the ink stick a little better to them. There is a tip on the tip sheet that comes with Papertrey stamps that says to use a pencil eraser on them.
Hmmmm...I just got mine the other day and spent yesterday playing with them. I didn't have any problems, BUT I did "erase" them really, really good with an eraser as they said to and that took away the "stickiness" that was on them. I just used classic SU! stamp pads...gorgeous images every time. I am just so impressed with this company! Hope you can figure it out!
I use Palette Hybrid inks all the time and have gotten nice clean images of the solid butterfly. But I also stamp on top of a stack of paper all the time too. More because I'm messy than for better stamping. I bet this is why I've always had great luck with my clear stamps!

I also erased them very well.... I stamp on a solid surface and I have never had any problems. I was blown away by these stamps and now I live for the 15th of every month! I sure hope you find the problem and fall in love with them as much as many of us have!
When you are inking up your solid butterfly make sure that your index finger is on the middle of the acrylic block and apply pressure while slightly twisting the stamp into the pad. I love PT's stamp and do not have any problems. I stamp just like I do my SU stamps and I don't erase them first either. Good luck!
I use a folded table as my stamping table and with it's uneven surface I was having troubles too. I finally ended up purchasing an inexpensive foam "stamping mat" which is essentially a thicker mat like you see in SU's mat pack. For stamping the image out this has worked for me. Inking it up I do the slight 'twist' thing Robyn mentioned. Oh yeah...and I've erased some, but not others (too anxious to use them) and it doesn't seem to make that much difference.
Okay I just uploaded a little video on my blog to show how I ink up this butterfly. I thought that might help someone out there. Just ignore the background noise, those are my children.
