What are you thoughts about PTIs July 2014 release? (Lets keep this thread about the products only, and avoid discussing customer service and shipping times.)
They certainly released a large number of products and they are trying really hard to be original and fresh.
I liked the graphic style of the suitcase stamp and die set, but I wouldnt use it enough to buy it.
I am amazed that they are offering die cuts of all the states in the USA thats a lot of dies!
I thought the sentiment set called Get Lost was interesting but the hand written phrases are in too small of a scale compared to the other fonts.
Not stamping related, but I really liked the phone cases the design team made. If I had a teenage daughter I would buy both the phone case and the phone case details dies.
The fonts used in the Thinking of You, Banner Sentiments, and Phrase Play #6 are really boring and easily produced on your computer at home. PTI is missing an opportunity for some creative offerings here.
I really like the banner dies and the font of the words YOU, CHEER, JOLLY and NOTE in the Note Niblets set but dont think I would use the other stamps in the set.
I think perhaps they should've released the July stamp set back in June in time for 4th of July cards...
That set's not really meant for cardmaking, I don't think. It's for project life, and I think their theory was that you're sort of working as you go. The Birthday Classics: July was released last month.
I hate the name "Note Niblets." "Niblets" are canned corn. ;)
And I wish they would introduce more colors of cardstock and ink. Those are some of my favorite products from them and I feel like they've just pushed a lot of their original identity to the side to get on the project life/scrapbooking bandwagon.
Yes! More ink colors! There are a few holes in their colors right now...for example, no soft stone grey? They really need it. And paper! I cannot even remember the last time that PTI released an original patterned paper pack...maybe last summer?
I may be wrong, but I feel that the Project Life trend is on a downward cycle. Whenever I see products for this (and for their new Make It Market line of kits), I look it it and feel a sensory overload. Aaack! Too much stuff! PTI has always been known for their clean and simple look, and this just feels like the antithesis of that. But I know that others love it, so I guess to each their own.
In an industry that often repeats itself ad nauseum, I do feel that PTI tries to be inventive, and I give them props for that.

Oh yeah, that's true. I just had a second look at it. It's meant for scrapbooking. But as a card-maker, I saw its potential for 4th of July cards. I don't have time to scrapbook.

I get ya. Personally, I'm not sure I'd have had time even if I wanted to make 4th of July cards AND if the set had been released in June.

They do have a soft gray, and it's lovely, I just got some. It's under paper basics, in the list, fourth item down:
As for expanding their colors, I think they have the most sophisticated palette around, so I'd always be up for more shades. :-)!

They have Soft Stone card stock, and it's lovely! I own it! But they do not currently sell a soft stone ink to match, which is strange. I do love their color palette, and now use their inks almost exclusively.

I love the card stocks being released these days by the different businesses but never buy them as shipping can end up bring so prohibitive ( mmm not sure I spelt that right) coming to Australia. I love the Papertrey stamps and dies but had to start pacing myself, so many places releasing monthly. I can hardly fit in the house now with the amount of crafting stuff I have and I am naughty and have a box overflowing with NBUS. The worst part is you really feel as though you are missing out when you dont order, it becomes so so........
