Default Paper cracking when embossing?

Does anyone have this happen with SU Whisper White cardstock? I am wondering if I just can't use that paper for embossing. I don't know that I would go so far as to say it ALWAYS cracks but it sure does seem that way. Is there a trick to using it? I am using Elegant Lines and Northern Flurry. Thanks!

I don't have that cardstock but it is coated if I remember correctly? is it coated on both sides? I know a lot of people have success with lightly misting cardstock before dry embossing. I would try that on the back side of the embossing in case it marks the paper.

I have had that happen to my whisper white cardstock with a few of my embossing folders too. I just open up my platform all the way. I use a Big Shot though. Not sure what the setup is for other embossing machines or what you have.

I have encountered that with my Cuttlebug. Two tips are: 1)put a piece of typing/photocopy paper on top of the cardstock, and 2)mist your stock with water before running it through the machine.

Thanks everyone I am using the Bick Kick (I think it's the Kick...the blue one). I am going to try some of these tricks when I get home tonight

If all else fails, you can try a different CS. My Elegant Lines EF would crack the WW. Instead of fiddling with different sandwich stacks I bought some Recollections 110lb CS from Michael's. It's much thicker than WW and did not crack. I would run it through on the platform with NO tabs for the folders that seemed to crack more. Some were fine with WW and some weren't. Sizzix folders seem to have very deep embossing compared to some others I have tried.

I've had it crack with SU's Whisper White and elegant lines too. I had forgotten about that. I haven't embossed any other folders with Whisper White, so I don't know if it cracks with other designs.

I have a Cuttlebug.
