I have linen pads from Gina K Designs and Lawn Fawn. I like both companies and both inks are very similar. The lid comes off. I use it at times in my Misti. They have reinkers and the pads stay juicy for a long time before needing reinking. If you want to match the colors to SU colors, many are very similar. I find it easy to use these inks with SU cardstock as well as other companies.

Lisa, thank you very much. I have 1 or 2 of the Gina K pads from about 5 - 8 years ago. Nice to know that the quality has not changed. I was not aware that Lawn Fawn was linen.
I have a few linen pads from Close to My Heart. They hold the ink really well but, because I use SU! pads 99% of the time, I am not used to a lid that comes completely off to use the pad.

You might try to refresh your ink pads with a mixture of glycerin and water. Search YouTube for the recipe. It has worked for my oldie but goodie linen stamp pads.
I’ve heard of people getting reinkers from other companies that are “close enough” or a more extreme version - washing out their pads and getting reinkers in colors they like.
After about 17 years, my linen Stampin' Up ink pads are dry and I'm out of the re-inkers. I am not a fan of the foam pads.
I'm looking to know who is still making linen pads and would welcome your opinion on those pads.
Thank you so much!
You can buy the Stampin' Up! reinkers and use them in your linen pads. I do that and it works fine. With retired colors where the reinker is no longer available, I get one in a current color that is close enough.

This is a good option. I've done this with a few of my retired inkpads.
Another option is to peruse the BST forums and see if anyone has any of the re-inkers in the colors needed.
I ran out of the real red reinkers after 17 years. For the valentine cards I’m using rose red for the time being, so far it has worked great.
several years ago I bought "Ink refresher". From ranger. A non toxic acid free for water based for stamp pads and markers. Amazon has it. For the size that I have the price has doubled. New price is $7.50.

Tim Holtz's stamp pads are linen/felt. Distress, Oxide and Archival. There is also an empty one that you can ink to any colour your want. I believe it is called Distress DIY Custom Blend inkpad. Comes in the full size Distress square inkpad. Plus, you can use any reinker, not just Distress.
I still have my original full set of SU ink pads & markers from 2005 or thereabouts. I wasn’t smart enough to get a stash of reinkers to keep them going. When their foam pads came out, I believe it was said the new inks would not work on the linen pads, but this turned out to be incorrect information.
Is there a list of current SU colors that would match closely enough with the 2005 colors that I could purchase the reinkers now and get the old inkpads working again?
I know “Fiona” is the color guru on SCS. I have beef going to ask her directly, but I have procrastinated.
Thanks for this topic in the Weekly Inkling…it is moving me to action

This isn't an official list, but it's what I've been doing:
Cajun Craze reinker in a Real Rust pad
Bubble Bath in Pretty in Pink
Lemon Lolly in Barely Banana
Lemon Lime Twist in Green Galore
Parakeet Party in Certainly Celery
Boho Blue in Bordering Blue
Lost Lagoon in Baja Breeze
Berry Burst in Purely Pomegranate (this one isn't super close, but the Purely Pomegranate is so long gone that it doesn't matter anymore)

I just ordered a Berry Burst reinker and am planning to try it in an old Primrose Petals pad; I'm thinking it might be close enough ~ fingers drossed! It isn't a linen pad, so not sure...

I am starting a small collection of GinaK inks and have been very happy with them. I have been doing a lot of ink blending and they work beautifully for that technique.
I also like the Simon Says Stamp brand. They seem nearly identical to GinaK pads.

I think those inks are made in the same factory. The Simon Says Stamp Positively Saturated inks are foam, I think and are different, but the Premium Dye Inks are very much like Gina K, Lawn Fawn, and there was another one that was very similar. I'm thinking it may have been WPlus9, but not sure. I ink blend with these dye inks all of the time.
GinaK, Lawn Fawn, Taylored Expressions, WPlus9, and Hero Arts felt ink pads are all in the same-made containers, both regular sized and mini. Even if the formulas vary slightly, my guess is that they are all made by the same manufacturer. There are only two or three companies in the U.S. that make ink.
