Once you've made one it's fine. The first one is kind of tricky, but when you get it all done, you're sitting there looking at it like, "Huh, that was really cool," and you immediately start another one.
Thanks for enabling me ladies. Somewhere someone mentioned using the tree die year round. Now how would you do that besides the black tree for Halloween previously mentioned?
Anyone have links to things they've done with the lattice die? I'm very attracted to that one.

I haven't got the tree die yet and I'm resisting ... who knows how long that will last? With this month's SU Sweet Treats hostess promotion, I might just have to get it for $14 (CDN)!
Anyways, I'm working on tons of Christmas cards this month. 3 classes with 10 cards each (5 designs per class, 2 of each card made) ... so I've got to get crackin'!

ha ha! Your order is probably not actually sitting there, but rather in a customs hold place near the border. The paperwork is just sent out east for some reason. I've had that happen to me before!
For Valentines you could to a red tree with pink hearts for ornaments, a light yellow tree with eggs for easter, etc.
Thanks. I will check out her blog. I sometimes forget I can search for specific things in the gallery so I pulled up some beatiful things including a votive holder wiith vellum behind the lattice. Lattice Votive Candle Holder by stamperjen0 at Splitcoaststampers
Also, my question is about the embosslits...do they cut and emboss at the same time or do you turn them over to emboss like Nesties??? That would be cool if they cut and embossed at the same time. Ohhhhhhh...it says simultaneous-cutting and embossing. How did I miss that???..THEY ARE ON MY NEXT ORDER!! I really want that sweetest stem now..flower burst is cool too. And the hi...maybe I'll just get 'em all!!
I love the fact that they do both. I don't bother with ones that you have to turn over and run through again.
The Little Leaves Sizzlet Die is very versatile too, and a great price to boot!

Definitely get the Hi one. It looks great by itself, or you can use the one-inch circle punch to punch out just the middle and use that, OR use the leftover frame after you punched it as a piece of faux Hodgepodge.
Oh and try it with Brushed Silver cardstock!!!!

They are really pretty covered in glitter! For example, put the glue dot in the center of a big flower and then sprinkle it with glitter. Makes a gorgeous center! I bet it would really look great in the center of a flower cut from the Flower Folds die, too.

Doesn't the glue dot possibly stick to other stuff, like the envelope? Or do you have to really pour the glitter on and press it down hard? (I'm glitter challenged- always make a big mess, but a mess never stops me from doing something!)
I think I would like to try this.
Ah, Breezy! Thank you for the thank you! I know I speak for many, many demos when I say we'd be thrilled to come back over and be helpful and contribute to SCS in the public forums. Feel free to ask anything. SU demos are some of the most helpful people I have ever met, and there's about a bajillion of us
Well, I've basically read page one, and then page 5 and part of 4. So, it looks like I missed all the bad stuff. I would just like to reiterate that there are a bajillion of us, and I teach high school math, so it must be true! I'm a hobby demo until I retire from teaching, but I love to help. I've learned so much as a result of becoming a demo!
One thing that I did recently was the glitter ornaments. I found the tutorial here on SCS. I had some clear ornaments that I bought last year, put in about 35 drops of reinker, and swirled it so it coated the entire inside of the ornament. Next, I put in glitter from one of my glitter stacks, and shook it all up. I experimented with different colors of reinkers, along with different colors of glitter. It was a lot of fun, but really messy! My fingers were covered with ink, so be sure to have lots of paper towels on hand.
I tried applying white rub ons, but ended up getting about 3 of them to stick, and wasting about 6 of them. They look just beautiful without the rubons! I'll tie some ribbon on the top as well.

The glitter pretty much covers all the stickiness. Yes, you really pour it on and press it down.
LOL to your "glitter challenged" remark. I remember at convention one year, some (maybe Linda Hansen) was working with glitter and she took some on her fingers and dabbed it on her face. She said "It's gonna happen anyway. Might as well do it at the start". (or something like that). lol

I don't have that alphabet but I can tell you that the die strip itself is only 2 1/4" wide. Also, if a comparison helps at all, the billboard alphabet letters are 3/4" tall.

Thanks! That does help. I knew they weren't going to be very big but I wanted a better idea.
I have the billboard alpha and I find that the letters are sized perfectly for card fronts...I dont have the serif one but I imagine that the letters would be the about the same size

I have Billboard as well. Love that it is big enough to use on scrapbook pages, but small enough to look great on cards!

So sorry to have put you in the way of temptation!
What an interesting thread--just skimmed the first page, but I'm looking forward to pouring over it when I have a bit more time than tonight.
If any of y'all have some ideas or pictures/links for cute, easy favors, napkin ties, placecards, etc made with SU stamps (for a small ladies luncheon), by all means please feel free to post them on this thread.
(And thanks, Lyssa, for the ideas you've already posted there--if only I had that die!)

The butterfly die? You don't HAVE that??? ((((scandalized))) Holly, you NEED it! How have you been functioning without it? Obviously you must let me enable you. It's for your own good!

never thought about needing safety glasses when using the glitter!
i seem to be able to leave the house with glitter on me even though i've not been any where near my stamping desk before leaving the house!
i guess i should be putting a pair of safety glasses in my stamping area...

I want the butterfly reaally bad. But since I haven't had the BS very long, I've decided to save that purchase until maybe March. It will make more sense to me then. ;)
I am so glad I found this thread. While I am not a SU only crafter, I do love SU and always have. I am in favor of ANY thread that inspires me, challenges me and encourages me to use and reuse my SU stuff. I am always on the hunt for projects that make me take out and dust off my older stuff as well as give me ideas for the new stuff.
I really like the idea of demos coming here and sharing their new techniques as well as SU fans just sharing our projects like we always have.
I don't see why this thread can't be kept going. It doesn't have to be permanent forum. We just keep it going and then start a new thread with a slighly different name when we reach the limit on posts. It's been started by users just like any other thread. Isn't that right? Or is there something I'm missing?
I'm probably about 70% SU. I still favor their stamps and paper especially. Love the newer matching punch and stamp sets.
Is there a limit on # of posts? Based on some threads I've seen, I don't think so. You can just talk about SU until the cows come home (or you need to actually get something done around the house).
My SU comment: I completed my first My Digital Studio project, and I love it! I can't wait to get it from the printer. It is going to be a gift for my daughter! I found it to be very user friendly.
Lynne, Glad to hear you had an easy time with the My Digital Studio. I just got mine and haven't had a chance to play yet. My 11 and 17 yr. old daughters, on the other hand, have been having a great time making really cool pages They love it!!

I believe the limit is 5000 posts and then you have to start a new thread under a somewhat different name. or label it #2 or something.
If you print a digital scrapbook page or a digitally created background, doesn't that suck a lot of ink? Just wondering...
I would like to have an SU forum. I LOVE their paper and about 95% of my stamps come from them. I did not read thru all of the posts on here but would this forum be a place to ask a SU company related questions too? I have been looking all over the SCS site to see if anyone has posted a comment on a question I have: Why doesn't SU offer unmounted stamps? I love wood mounted (maybe I am just a dinosaur in that aspect) but I have friends who only do the unmounted stamps. I want to hostess a party but I know they won't buy the stamps if they have to unmount them.:(

You don't have to mount them if you don't want to. It is a personal choice. They come unassembled, though they are die-cut already for you. No un-mounting necessary.
Stampin' Up has said they will not go into another form of stamps until they can insure the quality of the images as well as the products themselves, which is just not there with clear and unmounted stamps right now. I am so glad to work for a company that is interested in protecting the integrity of their products over profit and is not willing to sacrifice the quality of the stamped image for a market fad, which would devalue their good name in a hurry. They take the long view, which I appreciate!
