Wow, those are some great colour combos.
I have a pack of River Rock DSP that I am thinking of making the 'neutral' for a scrapbook. What colours go well with it? I'm sure sorry that the colour combo website is no longer active. That was so great.

Thanks for the River Rock suggestions and the link to the thread. I am printing this out and putting it in with the package of DSP so that I have it handy when I go to do the pages!

I will definitely miss the in-colors too! When I first saw them I wasn't too excited this year but they turned out to be great! I'll be getting more before they go away!
The news is out--so I'll share the good news for those of you who missed some of the past In Colors--SU is doing a color renovation, announced today. I'm THRILLED! We're getting rid of some dud colors, reorganizing the remaining, bringing back some past In Colors, and adding some totally new ones!
Plus the In Colors will be expanded over the next two years from five colors to ten! Way cool.
Going to be really exciting in the next couple of months.

Cool! Can't wait to see what colors come in and what colors go out! Hopefully we will know in time to get reinkers for any that are going away? For those of us that have a ton of paper still.........
How exciting!
Okay, I am going to try not to be too negative, it's not like I am anti-SU or anything. But I am really sad. Having all the inks, markers, refill and papers has been an investment that has taken me a couple of years to afford. I can't believe they are retiring 29 colors. Last time it was only about a half dozen, right. And some of those 29 are ones that I love. If I decide to invest in the new color line it will be a long time before I can afford new stamps.
Okay, I am done whining. I am glad it is happy news for you guys.

Wow, I was a bit shocked to say the least when I read the news of the colour changes. However, the idea of this thread is not to spend too much time discussing SU's policies, etc, and to concentrate on how we use the products that they sell now or have sold in the past. We'll let the future happen as it happens, OK? There are lots of threads to discuss our feelings about changes.
(And I have to chuckle at my serendipity- that River Rock DSP and ribbon will be current once again...)
So, who has a stash of some of the other former In Colors that will be staples in the new line- what combinations do you like?
I like a lot of the blue former 'in colors'. Is there a list of the retiring colors and the old 'in color's that are coming back? Was Wild Wasabi an in color? I love this color for Christmas!
The "old in colors" that will be staples in the new color families will be:
Melon Mambo
Rich Razzleberry
Pacific Point
Tangerine Tango
River Rock
Soft Suede
Riding Hood Red
Pink Pirouette
Baja Breeze
Wild Wasabi
(Note that 3 of these colors are actually the current in colors but would have been retired June 30th if they hadnt made the cut in the new color families)
There will be 5 new new new colors and kraft is going to be renamed Crumb Cake and will now have an ink pad and marker and watercolor crayon and pastel to go with it.
The 5 new new colors will be:
Daffodil Delight
Early Espresso
Cajun Craze
Cherry Cobbler
Marina Mist
There will be 5 new in colors starting July 1st, which we are not allowed to give names yet so I wont. Those 5 in colors will be current for 2 years. The exciting part is that NEXT JULY, 2011, we will get 5 more new in colors but the 5 we get this year will be current for another year, so that will actually be 10 in colors in July 2011. Then in July 2012 those in colors introduced this July will retire and another 5 will come in. So we will have 10 rotating in colors at all times staring July of 2011.
There will be 4 color families with 10 colors each, so a total of 40 core colors. Neutrals is now a color family and will have the white, vanilla, grays and browns in it.

I'm with you on this one....don't get me wrong I love SU, but you know.....I just spent $110 on cardstock and now they are retiring 29 colors. I won't be able to purchase any new colors, ink pads, markers, and paper for some time. In my opinion 29 colors is a lot of colors to change at once. I'm not trying to be negative either, it's just how I feel. Like I said I love SU!

I so have to go through my stuff and see what I have. I have never bought everything in the In Colors. So for one year, I have ink refills, which I also used to fill one of those Spectrum stampin' pads that were retired a bit later. For another year I have cardstock, and this year I bought the Markers and have managed to lose them somewhere... And of course I have some DSP's for each year that included In Colors.
Not being a demo, it really doesn't matter to me so much what is current or not, but I do lose track of the names of some of them.
My colour pages are sadly out of date. I made up a chart for myself, with each colour family stamped in ink, marker and punch circle of cardstock.
Today I made a card using my Spectrum pad which has Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Soft Sky and Blue Bayou. window congratulations by vanislandwoman at Splitcoaststampers
I used an old favourite wheel, Whirly Twirly. I'm still on my Window Dressing kick, but trying out different things in the windows- kids from Lively Little Ones, Bears from Beary Good Friends, and 'things' from whatever sets that have something about the right size to fit on a window sill.
is there any way to know which colors will be retiring....as in soon??? I would like to stock up on the colors that I currently use.....refills and CS. thanks!
I am happy that a lot of the retired In-Colors will be coming back!!!
I love Pacific Point and Baja Breeze! I think the Riding Hood Red was the shade of red I liked with the Wild Wasabi for Christmas. Pink Pirouette is another favorite.
My demo made a card sample for some of her customers several years ago. It is a rectangle of all of the current colors (1.5 x 3 - I think), a hole punched in it and hung on a binder ring. I use it a lot and have tried to keep a sample of any SU CS I have in my stash on it. I have had to go to a bigger binder ring when SU started coming out with in colors.

Pamela, that's a good idea, the ring thing. By writing the name on the cardstock, I would have it obviously in front of me for comparison when I use a scrap on a card and can't quite remember which colour it is!

Since I am not a demo, I can keep using them but, I have to stock up on some of my favorites....there are a couple that I never even thought of buying.....Hunter, Kelly, pale plum, YoYo, and basic brown. I thinkwith what they are bringing back I can live without the others! Looking forward to the new catalog and the new colors too! thanks Kelly!

I kind of feel the same way. While I like many of the new colours, retiring 29 colours is a lot at one time, especially given the huge Canadian prices, which do not reflect the parity that the Canadian dollar has with the US dollar.

Was it within the past 90 days? Have you opened it? If the answer is yes then no you can exchange it for other merchandise. Colors that are staying, new stamps...anything from the cattys!

Ohhhh and I used bashful blue, wasabi, and more mustard on a Christmas card a few years back, that combo is awesome! Would be good for manly cards and baby boys! Ohhhhh!

Yes, I just received my order 2 weeks ago and my card stock is not opened yet. I thought about exchanging it, but it's going to cost me a fortune to ship all of that paper back. Even if I do return it I can't afford to purchase the ink pads, markers, etc. to match so I've decided to keep my card stock and use it until it's gone.
I probably won't have any of the new color items until next year. I'm not totally upset with the color changes, I'm just blown away with how many they are changing at once.

Yeah, I was surprised at the number too but when I weeded through my stuff I can honestly say for MOST of them I rarely used them and some inks are still in the plastic!
I'm on the fence a bit about the shipping issue too but I think in the long run I'll be better off. Would it fit in those flat rate boxes at the PO so weight didn't matter?
I really think I'm going to ship back because before all of this happened I ordered two of something on my pre-order by accident instead of an item I really wanted! Grrrr...I must have been cross eyed! It wasn't worth the shipping cost for just the one thing but now with the colors I have about 3 or 4 packs of CS that I could exchange for the stamp set I meant to buy and probably get something else as well.

Cindy...you are super welcome! The length of the list is what gets me!! But actually, many of those colors arent colors I use a ton and I am thinking 1 multi-pack in 12x12 and 8 1/2 x 11 of each old color family, and I honestly think I will have enough to last me. Plus, that will have colors that arent going away so its win/win. I know I tend to use less of what is retired but some of the colors I love, like all the greens! And Brilliant Blue is our school colors so may have to get a pack of that but otherwise, I am pretty okay with the change. I will still use what I love, no matter what!!
Yeah, the length of the list is a little bit of a shocker at first. But honestly, I barely used most of those. And the totally fun and fresh new colors we're getting--and the sneak peek of the next set of In Colors--more than make up for it, IMO.
Pruning dead branches makes for a stronger, healthier tree in the long run... although the poor tree probably thinks it's dying when the gardener starts snipping! LOL
I'm also really looking forward to reorganizing my stamp space. I think it will be totally reinvigorating. Spring is the perfect time for a "wardrobe" update!

I am a "serial organizer" (which is far better than a serial killer, right?! LOL) so I am always looking forward to re-doing things. This is just another thing I will "have to" do....LOL

So glad to know I'm not alone :p I pulled out all the retired colors just so I could look at how pretty the new colors are together. My list's and labels are being updated, swatch cardstock chart is made with what I have of the new colors and saved from In Colors. I'm doing a homicide on the old stuff - kinds of runs along the lines of a "serial killer", sheesh, I watch too much NCIS, CSI, ....

I've returned papers before in a Priority Flat Rate box - they fit just nicely in there and I think it cost $9.95 and weighed around 4lbs - I had to eat up the shipping cost but it wasnt too bad considering you can fit a bunch in there and it doesnt matter how much it weighs...
In honor of Baja Breeze returning, I broke out the color and some of the Parisian Breeze DSP I loved and made some cute Magnet Boards. One hangs via the yummy satin choc chip ribbon and one has magnets on the back to hang on the fridge. And it uses my 2 new favorite things, the Vintage Vogue stamp set and the Sizzix SU Alphabet dies.
