Which "one" regrettable purchase would you to like to get rid of?
We all have "what was I thinking" purchases that we would love to get rid of
Mine is a set of 4 Unity stamp handles. I saw some one use them and thought they looked useful. I don't buy Unity stamps and for me they are clumsy for regular UM stamps, because I have very small hands
Which "one purchase" that you regret would you love to get rid of??
SU circle cutter. Have never figured out the trick to using it so that I don't waste a whole sheet of CS to get one or two circles. Have listed it on BST, but can't get rid of it.
If I could turn the clock back and not buy a big 12" Xyron, I would be money ahead. It seemed like something I really needed and I did find uses for the cartridges that came with it. Since those ran out, it's been collecting dust in the garage. There is no way I can afford the refills. Big waste of money. :(

Stickers. Lots and lots of stickers. And the binder that I had to have to organize them. I finally sold it on eBay if I recall correctly. I am sure I'll find more when I tackle the storage unit.

The kids' Cuttlebug! You'd think the one for kids would be even easier to use, but my kids weren't able to turn the handle on it, and I had a much harder time with it myself than I do with the "grown up" model. It sits in a cabinet taking up space.
I wish my DH hadn't bought me a Cricut. Oh, I know, lots of you will not believe that and tell me I should use it but I wish he hadn't. I never use it ; I like my punches and nesties. They serve me well. We couldn't afford it either and it made me feel sick at the time to think of the cost.
But DH was very generous and I love him for that. Right now if I could trade the Cricut in for the same value in stamps and more punches and nesties, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I agree about the Cricut. I HAD to have it but find it's too big and so I have to store it and drag it out if I want to use it. Needless to say, I rarely go to the trouble. The cartridges are expensive and there are usually only a couple of shapes I want on each one. I also find that I use my punches and Nesties much more often.
My biggest regret right now is all those $1 clear stamp sets I bought that I can't get to stamp a clear, crisp image no matter what I do. The letters and numbers actually fall off the block while I'm using them.
I think you're on to something there!! I actually just got rid of all the stuff I don't want! There is a 12 year old girl in our church, and she is really getting into card-making (actually, the whole family enjoys it - there are 6 girls (and one boy) all under 16!!). So I got a bunch of things together that I never use anymore (paper, stamps, etc) and gave them to her and she was THRILLED!!! It's the best feeling to be able to bless someone, and at the same time to get rid of some things!!! Now since I unloaded all my old stuff, I'll just have to go and buy more, right? ;)

Great thread! I have definitely "wised up" about what I buy now for that very reason!! When I first started card making quite a few years ago, supplies here in the UK were VERY limited and it's only with the advent of Scrapbooking becoming more popular that we now get all the funky stuff mainly from the USA.
At the very beginning I purchased dozens of sheets of peel offs and just recently found that I have a pile a foot thick ! Now of course I cannot abide them and every time I stumble on them they mock me for wasing soooo much money. Nothing turns me off now more than a card with them on!
I also have more paper trimmers than you could shake a stick at as I have NEVER found one that really does all I want it to! I get so excited when I buy one thinking that maybe this is the "Holy Grail" which will make wonky edges a thing of the past and am always disappointed!
LOL! Mine is the Embossing Light Table that I just had to have! I used it once and never again!!! It is still sitting in its original box...occupying precious space in my crafting room!

Like Rebekah, I've been working hard to get rid of a BUNCH of stuff I don't want. Wish I had a family like the one she gave to! But the preschool at our church and a few friends have benefitted from my regrets. One person's regret is another's treasure!
Here are my regrets.......Cuttlebug ABC dies (did get them on ebay cheaper than full price) but the letters are small and a pain to adhere even with a zip glue pen! DCWV pattern paper packs (12x12 - and I don't scrapbook so not sure why I bought that size!) - they are now in my purged pile to get rid of. Another one is the Fiskers card embossing "station" - I used it 2x -- a pain!
I have a couple of regrettable purchases, but I can't make myself get rid of them! The minute I do, some talented stamper will come up with the neatest technique requiring a Fastenator or Tag Crimper and what will I do then?
Cbet, Do What I did Re-buy it LOL..I sold Cricut cart to a lady in my Stamp club (for a really good price)...Dreamed about it pined about it, lost sleep over it... So I rebought it (at least I got it on sale) haven't used it still new in package...

I bought the light table thing when embossing first came out and have never opened the package! In my old age, maybe I can go on Antiques Roadshow and get a great price--after all, it's in the original package....

Thanks for the laugh. I can see myself doing the exact same thing!
A set of fiskar tiny punches that interchange on the handle...there are 40 of them I think covering every season and occassion for a year. They are great if you like to make shaped confetti or do a bunch of shaker cards....I let my DD talk me into them and I have never used them.......Any takers----I'd make you a great deal.

I'm with you Cheryl, I have 24 craft SU full size (maybe they don't come in the stamping spots like the classic) ink pads and most of them have never been opened. I want to get rid of them but I am afraid that I will NEED them as soon as I do. Did I mention I have had them for three years? and still have used/opened only a hand full. Yikes what is one to do??
I bought a bunch of designer paper thinking that it is nice and I can use it, I even cut it so that I would save time when making cards, It is still sitting there and I don't use it. I would much rather take a piece of cardstock and use the wheels or stamp to make a nice background. I also had rub ons and I forced myself to use most of them up on cards and I got rid of the rest.
Geeze I have to pick only one? The big pile of paper and "goodies" that I bought right after I started this hobby. What a wasted. It was junk paper and expensive too. I did get rid of it, my friends daughter started scrapping and stamping and she thought it was beautiful so I gave it all to her. She thought she hit the jackpot.
You guys are so good for a laugh. i'm sort of in the Cricut camp too. I do use it once in a while for lettering and I like it for that, so I'm not ready to sell it. The Fascenator...yep that can definitely go. I also bought most of the SU ink pads when I first started and I rarely use them. they're just sitting there drying up. I wish I had known to buy the spots.
Colleen, please don't give up on your Nestabiities. Those things are my greatest addiction and I have made some great cards with them.
Crop-a-dile. I have friends who swear by it, but I absolutely hate it. Thank goodness I got it for a good deal at Mike's, but I just can't get the hang of it to make good use of it.
Right now, mine is the Slice. I actually have two of them (don't ask). I pulled it out the other night and I'm still not in love with it. I'm on the fence about what to do with it and the cards. I love the idea, but it still gives me wonky cuts on some things and it's limited in the materials it will cut.
Oh, and the crop a dile. I never could get it to work quite right for setting eyelets. I think I'll keep it and use it to punch holes ;-)
What's surprising is that more of us in this thread don't put more of our regretted items up FSOT. After all, one woman's "trash" is another woman's treasure. Hehe.

You and me, both. As I have very limited money for spending, I can't afford to buy the accessories for the Cricut. And I don't scrapbook. And I also get almost sick when I think how far that money would have gone toward things I USE! Yes, it was a generous purchase on his part, but I didn't want one. And it would wound him deeply if I sold it, so I'm stuck with it.
Eyelets....used a few a couple times when I first started stamping 4 years ago and haven't touched them since. I was cleaning out couple months ago and pitched them but they never made it to the dump. It haunted me so I retrieved them. Still sitting in a drawer collecting dust. They are such a pain and not worth the effort.

I'm in the same boat with the Cropadile! I wish the instructions were more clear or specific to certain eyelets, such as - the large SU grommets, shaped eyelets, such as butterflies, etc. I've tried the combos I thought the directions were explaining, but I end up ruining the card or smashing the eyelets! I just did some nice hole punching with it today though!
the corner chomper..i got it on qvc cause it looked fun, and has extra size blades....pd way to much....tried selling it at a yard sale...no luck. will try to sell it elsewhere..just dont use it other than that, I am a craft supply hoarder, so it will go to a good home...cause you never know when you will need that______. After 4 years, I think its time to let it go.
oh and the fastenator..but I do use it for basting my quilts and tags for garage sales.
My regrets are just simply a variety of stamp sets, ribbon, and paper I don't use. No one big item. I also have a lot of SU stamp pads that I don't use because I thought I had to have every color. Then there's all the templates I have, alphabets, shapes, etc. I don't know what I was thinking.

xyron (I forgot I had it until I read this thread!)
Bind it All -- I can never get an even row of holes. Does anyone want to come over and have mine?
A very large rack for holding 12 x 12 paper. It has two rows so a total of 48 slots. Did I say it is large? Who wants it? Too big to ship. Just come on by to Fairfax VA and it is yours.
While I love my genesis trimmer, I wish I had the smaller 12 x 12 rather than the 18". It is just so large!
And a million things that I just bought too much of -- I've learned not to stock up on anything!
