Can someone help me put a picture on here? I have tried and can't get it to come up. I did the Add an Attachment, browse, attach and nothing. Any helpful citizens?
I figured it out! Wahoo, now you can all view my hideous creation!
Uh oh...what does this say about me (and my stamping abilities :?) ...I think these cards are cute! Maybe what I see when I look at each of these is a handmade creation from a thoughtful person!!
Hey, don't be discouraged by these cards! Keep in mind the general idea is "look at the possibilities". Lucky for me everyone I sent a card to back then thought it was just the neatest thing that I was getting into. It was fun for them to watch my talent and skill develop, too! People are very understanding and sweet when you're new at something.

Shanon, I was thinking the same thing when I was browsing these cards. They look like my present day cards. But you know what ? That inspires me, the reason for that is that I haven't been stamping as long as these creative ladies here so I figure there is hope for me ! Maybe I am on the same path as they are to greatness..... ( fingers crossed ).
Please keep the spirit and enjoy the stamping !

Yes, don't be discouraged. It takes a little bit to find your nitch when stamping. Seriously these "firsts" look so much more detailed then mine did. All I had was one lone image stamped on a completely white background -- so bland!
Thank you all for the encouragment and the PM's. I really wasn't trying to take over the original post or put a downer on everyones day. Like my hubby and all of you wonderful ladies say....It takes time...keep practicing. Well you are all correct. I'm going to keep at it, and maybe I will have the nerve to post one of them here!! (yeah right)
Kath: I think your card is really cute! You're onto something--keep at it--I hope we get to see more!
Wendy: Get out!! I've seen your gallery--you're good. If you're new at this and you're that good now, I can't wait to see how much better you get!

This thread has been a lot of fun to read and look at! When I started making cards a few years back, I didn't know then that I was transitioning out of scrapbooking and into stamping. I need to combine the two, cause I've got pictures mounting up again! Anyway, here's the link to my first card!
Just had to let you know--your first card (the tag card) is one of my favorites! In fact, I think it was the first one I added when I figured out how to use that function!
Kathy
I don't think I kept my first card, actually it was a wedding thank-you note. I made about 100 of them!!! I must have been crazy. It was 9 years ago. I bought a heart wreath stamp and embossed it gold on ivory cardstock. I didn't own a heat gun, so I did ALL of them in my OVEN!!!
Okay, Renee, that is a totally cute first card. I love the colours and the design. Oh, and you have a very nice name.
All of these cards on here look great and I just keep thinking that we all have to start somewhere (my somewhere is a bit behind some of you, apparently! ). So cool that you can see how far you've come.
Don't be discouraged! Be hopeful! Even if your cards today are just one lonely flower on white cardstock.... it is a handmade gift of love! And with time and practice and many hours on SCS you'll be popping out wowsers!
And wenfaye, I KNOW I've seen your gallery and it is not dorky at all!!!
I do have my first card around here somewhere. I did find one of my first scrapbook pages. I made these about 7 years ago. It is on typing paper and the gingerbread guy is a cut and copy clip art colored with cheap kids markers. This is one of the first things I stamped, too. I think i used elmers glue to put them on the paper. I thought these where so awesome. I have ALL of my baby pictures like this. i am in the prosess of reprinting the pictures since I can't get it off the paper.
THANK YOU!, Emily. I was feeling in the same boat with Shanon. I am about to panic about my first swap. It welcomes newbies so hope I will be okay. When I feel bad I'll just keep repeating "Emily and Kimberly were new once." "They really were, they really were".

THANK YOU, Beth and everyone else who said keep it up and you will be be at this point one day. I was about to sit down and have a good cry. Instead I opened my third coke of the day and poured 1/2 if it over a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

Granny, I am embarrased to tell you what number of Diet Pepsi's I am on today, and pouring it over some ice cream sounds even better!
For all of you that feel your cards just aren't worthy of posting, please don't get discouraged! I started another thread inviting newbies to post....here it is
Thanks. I have a scanner but do I know how to use it? I will get my daughter(Ms. Computer) to come over and help me. I saw the other thread and I will definately post. Again, Thanks.

Wow, this has been an interesting thread that I've had a lot of fun reading and looking at everyone's wonderful first creations! Didn't everyone have a first kiss, a first love, and a first stamped creation? I still look back at my 1st boyfriend and go " " But I loved him anyway and although today he's a no good bum, I still have a place in my heart for him... as I do my first card.
It's the 1st card I had the nerve to upload here as well and it is the 1st card I came up with all on my own! I discovered stamping just a few months before this (My 1st year stamping anniversary is this month!). I only had JUST signed up to be a demo and all I had to work with was my starter kit and Friendships Journey. Wow.
We've all come a long way, baby!

Not to hijack, but my first kiss was pretty darn sweet!!
~~MamaK and Leslierich~~ Thank you for your nice comments. You know that is one thing about this site. I feel more inspired and more excited about stamping every single time I log on to this site. There really are a great bunch of ladies on here. It just doesn't get any better than our SCS home !
This is one of the first cards I made... about a year ago. Eeeps.

Okay, so it's taken me awhile to post this....boy have I come along way...... okay, here it is - one of my first cards - and to think it's only on USW CS!

Darttella, I absolutely refuse to believe that you've only been stamping for one year!!! There's no way you've gotten that good in only one year!!! If so, I'm going to bed, depressed, that life is so unfair...I've been stamping for several years (not daily, or anything...but my first set was Flashy Florals & it retired in something like 1996) and I haven't improved just a whole lot!
Leslie
<applying to be the President of the Darttella fan club...maybe her talent will rub off!>
I'm looking at all of these thinking, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!' I think our personal styles change over time. I think these first cards are really cute! I also think the magnificently decorated, eyeleted, crinkled, embossed, glittered, watercolored, faux oil painted, etc. cards are great!
For those who are discouraged----your cards are GREAT---you are making gifts of love, as someone posted. The style you do now may be your style! It's fun to try the new exciting techniques, but know that your cards are just what they need to be!
And for those who have "changed" or "improved" ---it is funny to think about the first cards if you've changed a lot over time! Before SU, it was a Wal-Mart stamp on white paper. Like others, I made over 100 Christmas cards using the stove to emboss. I don't even know where those are now. I'll have to find some originals. All I can say is SU changed the way I make cards. Who knew there were 2 step stamps that made you look like an artist? And paper to match ink? WOW!
This thread kind of reminds me of hairstyles. We thought we were GORGEOUS with big hair in the 80's---now those with curls have flat irons to smooth out those curls. (and I think Naturally curly hair is so pretty!) I wonder what we'll think of our own artwork (or HAIR!) in 10 years!
Well I must stink because I think some of those first cards are great. I would never have attempted ribbon on a first card. I still haven't done it yet, but I did use a brad last night for the first time - woo hoo - lol!
I made 2 cards the first time I made any - an anniversary card and a St Patrick's Day card to send to my husband in Iraq. They're identical except the words and colors - exact same style though  I hope he kept them. My mom told me she kept the first card I made and sent her.
This is site is fantastic for ideas but I find I spend so much time looking at the gallery and not enough time making cards!
