Has anyone else seen the cards called Cards by Alice on Ebay?....she is getting alot of money for ONE Card! Yesterday one went for over 20 bucks! Who would spend that much on one card????? They are pretty cards....but I dont know why people are paying so much for them anyone else know??? Is she a celebrity or something?? There are other cards on there that arent getting that much.....
WOW! Awesome cards! and she is getting good money for all her stuff listed!
I tallied it up- for the 8 cards she has on there- RIGHT now- they are selling for a total of 83.51
and several have a while before bidding is up!
SWEET!

I hate to rock the boat here, but I think the bidders on these cards are really nuts! Yes, they are nice cards, but she really goes into no detail as to how they're made or with what products. She sure does push the glitter though. No indication of embossing or texture paper......not very descriptive. Who would put glitter on a sympathy card? Not a topic I would feel requires sparkle. Also, she only states a white envelope, not any word about embellishment on the envelope to tie it in with the card.
Sorry, but these would certainly not float my boat in any way. But if she's getting $$ for them, good for her, but bad for the buyer.
Just my personal opinions, I know others may differ.
I have to agree with Patti - I think it's crazy to spend $16.50 on a card (especially since I have that stamp set). It's nice, but IMHO, not that nice.
But, like Patti said, if she's getting money for her cards, good for her!
I agree. The comments are very specific, which usually isn't the case on Ebay.

even though it may only be two bidders, and may be she is doing it herself, it is a business Strategy to get real people bidding. Personally I love doing a card to give to some one to make them feel special. But some have a business mind and that is ok to.

I went poking around on this one and it does look fishy. Could be wrong, but going back through her cards, I can't believe how much they went for. One went for 30.00 plus 4 bucks shipping. That is nuts. I sold a few on ebay and I had really taken the time to make them and I got three bucks each. How is she pulling it off?

Actually it's called shilling & against Ebay policy. She could have her account suspended if it's proven she's doing it.
A few friends & I have been watching her as well. I'm not sure who would spend that kind of money on a card. And some of her cards use Whipper Snapper images ~~ a big no-no as they are not an angel company.
OK, hold the phone... am I looking at the same thing everyone else is? She calls a sick penguin in bed a sympathy card??? It's a nice get well card, but you'd have to be twisted to send someone that as sympathy. (My definition of a sympathy card is condolences to someone who is grieving a death... maybe there's more to sympathy than I assume?) Nice, but not nearly as amazing as work I see here on SCS and definitely not worth that price!

Sheesh, I sound like the Ebay police!! LOL!!
No you don't sound like the Ebay police - the thing with these sort of Ebay postings - when they look fishy, they probably are, but they make people who do Ebay and receive less, ask why they aren't getting those prices and questioning themselves. I have to say I don't think I would ever pay over $5 for a card in the old days when I used to buy them and that was actually when I was spending in pounds stirling.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw all the cards that she is selling. I know that owl one is a Stampabilities image. Which unless she got permission to sell that card with that image on it, I think she could get into trouble with that.
I don't agree that the auctions are shilled.....if you look at her feedback, there are a lot of different bidders on her cards and they have higher completed auction numbers than a beginner ebayer. I think it is legite and she just has a following.
OTOH.......did you happen to click on the category itself and look at some of the other cards being offered.......it is no wonder that her's are selling...the others aren't that great. AND.....did you notice the one that is made by an inmate at a prison! THAT was interesting.

IF she were bidding on the items herself and winning that is stupid, she is losing A LOT OF MONEY, ebay charges listing fees as well as end of auction fees depending on the amount the item sold for...The cards are nice, but like everyone above said I wouldn't spend more than 4-5 bucks on one of them..Maybe the people buying them aren't aware that they are simple "do it yourself" projects...Who knows...In my ebay experience when you think something will sell, NO ONE bids on it, if you think oh no one will buy this crap, it usually sells for a lot of money...People are weird LOL
Listen, I sell alot of cards on ebay and I know my cards are good, but there is no way that I have any customers who would be that amount for a card that she is getting! If they are real customers, which I have my doubts, then something is really wrong with those people who pay that kind of money!

Just curious- the orignal posted card- I checked the bidding history, why does the same bidder have many bids in a row?
Am I not reading it right?
Anne
When you bid on ebay you can put a higher amount than what is shown...Starting bid is .99c you can make your maximum bid say $20. but it'll only start you bidding at .99c..If someone comes in and tries to out bid you and puts a max bid of $5.00 then YOUR bid will still count as the high bid at $5.50...So the person trying to out bid may do multiple bids in smaller incriments, until they reach above your max bid...MAKE SENSE?

Her starting bid was $2.99......that's not bad.....it is the bidders that are making the cards overpriced....not the seller. I say.....Good for them! There are a lot of people who have absolutely NO interest in making anything themselves....they have the money to spend and they buy what they like no matter how much.....like that two page SB spread that sold for $600+ last year.

stamping in prison...now, there's a new potential customer base we hadn't thought of!!! LOL
I can see it now......."Ummmm, I'm sorry ma'm but you can't bring those scissors, heat gun or paper cutter into the prison!" I guess crafters can go bad too!

Go to goofbay.com to see just how much this woman is making!! I believe you can go back up to 3 months.
Ann ~~ LOL~~ I knew you weren't speaking of Alice, I just couldn't believe *anyone* would state in their auction that they are in prison!! Do they think people will sympathize & buy their stuff? LOL!
I've been tempted to buy one of her cards just to see what is so special. I know she cuts everything out to make it "3D" but so do a lot of others!! If it weren't against Ebay rules I'd e-mail her buyers & say "Hey! Come look at MY stuff!!" LOL!!!!

Hello, That link is to one of the cards I made. I would never spend that much on a card either. I was wondeing why I was getting so many hits from this message board. LOL! A few of my buyers are card collectors. Alice has a great customer base, and there are a lot of great card sellers on eBay. The customers are legit. I have some of the same bidders as she does, and they pay for the cards.
