I wouldliketo take a shot at these shaker cards!! Is it TRANSPARENCY FILM that I am using?? I found some and was wondering is thathe same as ACETATE?? and you cut this withthe exacto knife to make your window right???
Thanks
oh what is the sticky tape stuff that goes along with it?? I am so ahhh!!! :!: :!: :!: about making one!! I am a little scared! ohh what do you put in yours??
It's called mounting tape I think (it's foamy and sticky on both sides.) Beate made an awesome tutorial (that's where I learned to do it). If you look on the resources page it will be there, with step by step instructions as well as all the supplies (with pictures!!!!) good luck! and share what you come up with!
I use mounting tape found at Target or WalMart if I need them fast. At times I have used the extra foam/rubber off the stamps.... you know... the gray foam. I just pealed off the rubber and pealed off the paper. But, it is time consuming. Mounting tape is much easier. And as for what goes inside.... anything and everything that shakes.... glitter, sand, beads, etc....
Another tip: Use the clear sheets that 3D embellishments/stickers come on for the shaker box window. No use throwing them away when you can reuse them.
Like other said, use mounting tape. I use the kind by 3M and you can even get it at Wal-Mart. It's like white foam. You just want to make sure that whatever tape you choose, it needs to be a little thick so the shakey stuff has room to move!
And definitely check out Beate's tutorial. THat's how I learned!
I just learned something new!! Instead of mounting tape you can use weather stripping tape from the hardware store! Huge roll for less than 2.50!!!!!!!!

I also get dry wall tape... it looks like magic mesh!!! It is white, but I have heard you can emboss it. Haven't tried to though. Anyway, HUGE roll for under $5!

Another cost saver: I was wanting to try the acetate and tissue technique, but didn't have acetate or window sheets, so I thought I would try a plastic presentation cover that I had bought with my binding machine (you know, the plastic see-through covers that are typically on the front of bound presentations?). I had bought 100 covers for about $12 at Office Depot, and it works just as well as the acetate (just heaps cheaper!).

Just a thought - but just looking at this thread, there are a lot of creative people out there that have great ideas for saving us all money, what about creating some sort of on-going listing somewhere of items that we can use "instead of" to save money? Obviously there are loads of things out there that some of us would never thing of (I certainly would never have thought of weather stripping tape instead of mounting tape!)

The cheapest way to get acetate is to have a DH who works in printing and brings you home all of his "mistakes" or off-cuts (usually mistakes!) hee!hee!
