You have been forced to eliminate everything in your craft room except what will fit in a backpack. What are you gonna put in it?
In my backpack, you will find:
A rotary cutter, small cutting mat and an Omnigrid quilting ruler.
My tweezers, teflon bone folder, Cutterbee scissors, #2 craft knife.
My watercolor brushes, Gansai Tambis, watercolor paper, 36 Distress markers.
A pack of Recollections 110# white cardstock, A2 envelopes; XPress It CS.
Micron Pigma pens; Gelly Roll white pen; 80 Copics.
XPress It adhesive (like ScorTape); Matte medium. Absorber.
20-25 Memento/PTI ink pads (thank goodness for cubes/teardrops!)
A couple of 6" paper pads. A couple of stipple brushes.
Glossy Accents, Viva Decor Pearl Pens in white & cream.
My heat gun, black/white/clear EP, Versamark pad.
30-40 clear stamp sets (images/sentiments.)
My laptop.
Totally do-able! I already miss my Big Shot.

The thought is so horrendous I can't even think about it!!! lol Seriously though, I would be packing and unpacking that backpack a million times trying to decide what to bring. I could tell you I'd definitely pack my MISTI, paper cutter, SU ink spots and white cardstock (both weights of WW).
This question had me laughing, because several years back we had a tsunami warning, and DH insisted on us going to one of the shelters (turned out to be a false alarm, btw). It was probably about 4:00 in the morning, and I brought one totebag with me. I'd filled it with stamping supplies, including my entire set of SU markers. DH wasn't very pleased, but I told him I was thinking of other people. Stamping would help get their mind off the tsunami. (Pffttt! Yeah, right! I just didn't want my treasured stamping supplies getting flooded. lmbo The fact that it would be a distraction was just the icing on the cake.)
Fiskars rotary trimmer, Cutterbee scissors & Fiskars finger knife
Ream of Recollections 110# cardstock & Georgia-Pacific cardstock (both white)
2 favorite paper stacks; 4 CTMH paper packs
Scor-Pal and its mat & built-in bone folder
ATG gun & refill; Glossy Accents
Memento Black & Brown ink pad & refills
75 Copic markers; (a working) white Signo gel pen; mechanical pencil
2 oval punches (one plain, one scallop)
10 of my favorite wood-mount image stamps; 1 favorite background stamp; 3 of my favorite wood-mount sentiment stamps
Then, if there was still room I'd toss in my favorite Distress inks & refills & foam applicators; some brown, green, red & pink cardstock; Ranger alcohol inks & applicators; and maybe my butterfly punch.
Marge, Melissa's backpack must be WAY bigger than mine!
Mine is totally do-able because I've done it! Forgot to add my MISTI!
Pam, I like your line of thinking... and your justification.
By the way, you said you'd have trouble deciding what to bring. You're not BRINGING anything. You're deciding what to keep! LOL

Reason: Spelling
You didn't say that I'd have to be able to carry my backpack!
No, I didn't. I left that part out. On purpose. (Back problems - not supposed to lift over 8 lbs.).
Our backpacks can be on wheels!

Funny, I was just thinking how I need to downsize more! lol As I was making Christmas cards today, I realized how many different colors of cardstock I have (and whole pkgs or more of each!) and all the embellishments that I have. I have enough brads to cover the earth many times over - I'm sure!
I will give this some thought and get back with you (maybe tomorrow afternoon). This is a great question.
Maybe I'll even pull out a backpack and see what will fit!
Noooooooo! The thought of this makes my heart beat funny....thinking I would just lay down and die....cant bear the thought.....! Some really good answers though.

Well, heck then, if I don't have to CARRY it anywhere I'm getting a "Paul Bunyan" size one like Melissa's! :p
I have an "emergency stamping fix" at work and what is there is my cuttlebug ( have a big shot at home its too big for a backpack I cannot lift it version) and a Black Memento pad and a squishy piece of foam to stamp on, a couple reams of cardstock, an ATG gun and cutterbee non stick scissors.
( there is an paper cutter in the office that was there when I started so, its just on the file cabinets not with the stamp stash) (those are the basic's for me I guess)
all of those things would fit into a backpack and I would hope I had insurance replacements on starting over with the frills.
OK I love this question and thought about it for a few minutes and came up with this, I would painfully let go of it all and put my Mastercard in the backpack and head out to the store to start the crafty collection over from scratch.
Well, I have one of those big mountaineer backpacks, so I would definitely take
my Zing and a laptop
a couple binders of my stamps
my copics
my MM cutter
my little scissors
my Memento black ink
my sobo glue
my AGT and some extra rolls
and fill the rest of the room with paper.
I would take my
*SU paper cutter
*Memento black Ink
*Brayer
*double sided tape
*foam tape
*2 binder's full of stamps
*Cardstock
*Bic It Markers
then I would hope to be able to cram in some clear Stickles and some colored rhinestones. They don't take up much space, surely I could slide them in somewhere. ;)
My Bigshot. all my SU dies, my Artbin full of Spellbinders, Memory Box and IO dies. Paper, all of my WW and Vanilla, Espresso and Crumb Cake, assorted amount of coloured cardstock, some dp, my SU trimmer and extra blades, scoreboard, all of my markers and an assortment of stamps(15-20 sets)and double sided tape. Versafine Black Onyx, Early Espresso. Basic Gray and Smoky Slate inkpads. Whew! did I mention my backpack is a wheeled hockey bag equipped with straps?? a NEW one not a used stinky one!!!ewww Of course I wouldn't bring any wood mounted sets, too heavy ;-)
Misti
Precision sissors
watercolor crayons
watercolor paper
water pen
ATG gun and refills
Precut card bases
one new 12" paper stack from DCWV with really happy prints
bling
black craft ink
clear embossing powder
heat tool
and some punny stamp sets...to make people smile!
I'm really enjoying coming back and reading all of your answers!
For a few of you - I'm coming right over.... with a bottle of valium, so calm down. Breathe...
Steamer trunks and hockey bags? My son has one of those hockey bags, and I've seen it. You could park a Volkswagon bug in there!
I'm glad you're enjoying the question!

I just got done organizing and downsizing my stampin stuff.
I am sorry, but if I can use and have what makes me happy in this craft I might as well not even do it.
Sorry just my 2 cents. I know this is a little game to participate in, but I can't even imagine down sizing to a back pack.

I had the problem to not use things. Big problem, over many many years.
With your help I'm over that now.
I don't mind to let the things go, that I can buy, it's just material.
You would find all my books with the ideas I collected over a long time. My notes, my sketches, my thought about what ever.
That's it.
Everything else is not as valuable, I just would buy new stuff.
I would probably say my Tonic paper trimmer as it has inches and centimetres. I am a self taught stamper, and started out with paper ruler, pencil and scissors.when I purchased my trimmer I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
Not only such a time saver but I can make a tremendous amount of favour boxes and treat holders, which would be formidable otherwise. Well I also would keep my Trusty old Cuttlebug even tho I also have a BS.If my house was on fire I would grab these two as paper ink etc can be quickly replaced, that's partly because I don't like the new CB. Lol

I agree 100% with your take on this! I would be really sad if I lost the items in my craft room. But losing them would not be the end of the world. If I could escape with photos of my children, I'd be a very happy camper. I don't have a lot of pictures because my boys grew up in the day when we had to pay for film and developing.
I think my New Year goal will be to go through every photo I own and scan my favorites so that I will always have a digital copy. I can't fit all my pictures into a safe deposit box, but I can easily fit a few flash drives. (I just hope I remember to do it! My old brain doesn't remember things like it used to.)
Uhmmmm .... my heart is palpatating! I cannot even begin imagining this! :O
I know my MISTI and black archival ink would go in the backpack first. After that, my paper trimmer, scissors, and as many stamps, inks & cardstock as I could jam in there!
I might have to edit this post if I think of something else that I absolutely must have. lol

Interesting timing on this question - I was actually thinking seriously about putting together a "portable stamp room", as in some kind of toolbox/tote/backpack that had enough stuff to keep me happily occupied for quite a while! The plan:
A binder of my favorite stamps
Three Really Useful Boxes (pencil case size) that have all of my DIY ink spots
Two Really Useful Boxes (pencil case size) with all of my colored pencils
One more box of tools (Fiskars finger knife, replacement blades, Perfect Layers rulers (mini), mechanical pencil, eraser, bone folder, sharp scissors, stylus
Gamsol and blending stumps
MISTI
Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark, and Memento Tuxedo Black ink pads and refills for each
Self-healing mat
Heat gun and detail clear embossing powder
Martha Stewart mini scoring board
SU! Naturals Ivory and Recollections White cardstock
White ribbon, pearls and rhinestones that I can color with my markers to any color I need
Most-often-used Bic, Prismacolor and Spectrum Noir markers
ATG gun and refills
Foam mounting tape and glue dots
A few of my most versatile punches
While I would miss my BigShot and dies and embossing folders, I can (and do) make a lot of things without them, and it's not portable at all...

Looks like he's at an airport. Wondering if that is his carry on...

My SU! guillotine cutter and my CM mini guillotine. White & cream cardstock. My SU! markers. Black versafine, memento, and staz-on ink pad. Grey and brown too if I have room. My little mini-container with all manner of shapes & colours of brads & the hole punch. Clear stickles. Clear self-adhesive rhinestones. My good fiskars scissor that only get used on paper. Double-sided tape. Roll of scor-tape. Dimensionals. Bone folder. As many photopolymer or cling mounted stamps as I could cram in - making sure I had at least 1 general sentiment set and 1 Christmas sentiment set, a floral set (preferably 1 open for colouring & one solid), a Christmas image set, a cute image set (ie a suitable for children set), a versatile set that can be the focal point or make backgroundy kind of stuff (like the SU! sets from a few years ago Big Pieces and Little Pieces, or Circle Circus), a naturey set (like Lovely as a Tree or Artfully Asian), a hearts/wedding/love type set, a masculine type set, and something birthdayish with like balloons and stuff. Waterbrush & watercolour paper if possible. If I still had room I would add versamark pad, embossing powders in basic colours (gold, silver, black, white) & heat gun. If more room I would add as many more stamps as I could cram in, and maybe a 6x6 pad or two of dsp.
