Default OK need help for my nieces......

talked to my Sis-i-law about gift ideas for the girls - they are 12 and 14 and I wnat to get them scrapbooks for them to do.

I got a great deal on 8x11 gingham checked books at Jo'Anns (50% off) and now I need to include some goodies.

Here is wehre I need you all - here is what I was thinking - too much - not the right stuff for the ages? Whatcha think?

* Card Stock - cut in various sized and shapes solid (squares, rectangles, ovals and circles too!)

* Tags

* Printed papers

* Alphabet Sticker Sheets

* Brads and or buttons (eyelets are too muchf or them I think!)

* photo corners/splits (better than a glue stick!)

* Fibers

I do not ahve girl power to be able to stamp anything girly but I do have some other florally things - I was thinking a couple OSWs they can cut a sthey like for borders or what ever.

I also have some Cm things that I no longer really like the effect that I will use for them.

Should I make the "supplies" a joint gift or seperate them out? Should I include a couple pair of cheapo deco scissors?

I don't want to do too much but - don't wnat to have it look scimpy either?

I also was going to "loan" (OK GIVE) them some of my CM layout books - I have MORE than I need and honestly will probably won't use them - they are ok but I have magazines galore qith as good if not better layout ideas.

Should I include stickers - theya re older and its hard to find "cool" ones for teens.

What do you think? And I on the right track and what is "too much"????

Smiles

Kate

PS - I and not in their area to be able to "play" with them.

At their age I would have been thrilled for "activity" items. Maybe someone with girls that age now can give you better advice.

I don't there is ever "too much" when it comes to supplies! :lol:
I'm doing the same thing for my soon-to-be 16yo niece. I have a 6x6 albumn and then got a pad of coordinating background paper. I found some word stickers at HL that would be good for teenagers. Then I cut lengths of ribbon from my own stash. Oh, and a glue stick and a pen for journeling. I still have to go through my own supplies to see what else I can throw in. Luckily, we only live 5 miles apart so she's welcome to come play!

If it were me, I'd split it and say something about 'the fun of crops is being able to swap supplies.' That'll encourage them to do it together, but avoid the "but those are the stickers that match this dress" problem.

The only thing I'd add (and they could share this) is a paper trimmer. But the photo splits and pre-cuts could also take care of that.

Good luck!

Kate

Edited because it's too late for me to spell. ;)

I did the same thing for my 10 year old niece. I got her one of the little xyron sticker makers ($8 at walmart) and a little alphabet set ($10) and a set of 4 spots to use with the alphas.

I think this is a great idea. I would definately split the supplies, but I do like the comment of "The funnest crop is when you swap". I think if you stamp, (they may like it) buy a cheap alphabet set and an ink pad for them to share may be a great idea. I would go through some of my scraps and see if I could come up with some useable scraps to include. Maybe some tags. If you did not want to do eyelets maybe you could buy a set of snaps, or brads (require no setter) but still a great embelishment. But I think it is great. I hope they really enjoy it.

My daughter is 12. I let her read your post. She thoght it was a 'cool' idea, but said she would definitely want the items split. Not so that there was 'her' stuff and 'my' stuff, but just so that they each would have something to open

BEEN there!! - Saturday was a HUGE sale - which is where I got my fibers, tags and some other girly things! Now I just need to go through my "stash" and fill in.

So you think I'm on the right track?
