I got a personalized postcard in the mail today to introduce me to a muse studio and a local demo (not sure how they got ALL my personal contact info into their website, but that's another story). I clicked through the link to take a look at the catalog.
WOW. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but I was. Everything so fresh, so modern, great fonts, great sentiment sets, great clean florals. I thought stamp set prices were pretty good, paper, not so much. But what a collection of colors, even "shimmer couture" cardstocks. I think I may be shifting some of my SU dollars over to a muse (I'm not an SU-only girl anyway) I just didn't get that same "feeling" looking at the new SU catalog.
I got one to.I tried yo track down the consultant but the website had nothing.
While I liked some of their stuff they went about it the wrong way so need less
to say it was filed. The name on mine was Kamira Younkman I think.
Pam
Weird. I'm lovin' my A Muse stuff (just got stamps, though). It may very well be that personal info was bought from other crafting websites. I'd be surprised--and highly disappointed--if it was from SCS.
Hi:
I'm a consultant and I just put a request for info into headquarters so I will let you know when I get an answer.
Did you ever do business with A Muse Art stamps? or hang out on their lounge? It is the same company so maybe they just transferred over an existing mailing list.
I will post back once I hear something--I know they have been an awesome company so far and I have really had only good experiences with them in the last 4 months.
Let me know if you have any other Q's and I will try to get them answered!
I have been on the new website but never to where I would have put in info as I already knew who I could order thru if I wanted to so wasn't going to be searching for a consultant. In fact that person as since ordered for me so when I got a postcard from someone I didn't know it was weird and sort of off putting. I did ask my rep to see if maybe she forwarded my info but she hadn't.

I received a postcard too and was eager to check it out! It didn't suprise me to get the postcard. I have purchased from A Muse before they changed to A Muse Studio... just assumed this is why I got the postcard.
Anyhoo... I've been wanting to get some of their inks thanks to all of the enablers here. LOL! And, now I have a coupon to use. yay!
I LOVE the Amuse gingham paper... beyond absolute love it. I was so hoping to see something similar in the new SU catalog, but alas, nope. I'll be buying it from Amuse.
I also love their flower ribbon trim stuff. SO FUN and cute.
I didn't get a card of any kind-- just ordered from a SCS gal that just signed up. I'm thinking that it came from some other website than SCS. I don't think SCS would do that. I'm guessing their old mailing list (before they became a direct sales thing), they bought out some other company's mailing list (one of these stamp co's that went out of business?), or something like that.
Hi--I got a really quick response from the company--I pasted it below:
Quote:
The postcards folks are receiving are a result of direct mail campaign done by HQ to customers who had purchased from us in the past (when we were A Muse Artstamps).
About the person who could not find the referred consultant, it is possible that they canceled their website right after the mailing went out, not knowing they would have gotten a referral. If you want to order from the catalog, you can order for any consultant you wish or just find the closest one.
As far as the gingham paper goes, I <3 it so much! I can't stop using it; especially the black and orange, LOL! It is a really great product and company and I am thrilled to have signed on as a consultant!
Wow, I just fell in love all over again what a great company to support all their creative consultants by doing some leg work for them. I am so glad I took the plunge on March 1st! And everything you have heard about the ink is true. Inking so much I am already refilling;)

I received the post card with the 20% discount, too. What I find "amusing" is that Younkman was named as my local demonstrator. It looks like she is from Wisconsin and I am here in Illinois. I already know an AMuse consultant that I would purchase from--right here in Illinois. I also think that whoever sent out the 20% discount cards with Younkman's website is really undercutting all the other demos who are just starting out and trying to start a business. (And being a SU demo, that is how I would feel if SU did that.) On top of that, the postcard also had a website with my name on it. I purchased from them previously so I am sure that is how they got my info. That being said, I don't think I need a www.myname.amuseoffer.com website that I did not ask for. Crazy!!

I'm a teacher so I have been off for 3 full weeks and into my 4th. I will not be amused when school starts back up in August

I can ease your mind
We don't even require a mailing address for registration and most members don't have one on their profile.
If anyone bought a marketing direct mail list, they didn't buy it from us
However, for anyone who is concerned about their address, reputable companies generally have a privacy policy that spells out their intentions, so if you're entering your address as part of a registration somewhere, be sure and read those uber boring TOS things that we all click "I agree" on before clicking "I agree" or "Opt In"
Younlman was also named my local consulant and I'm in MI and now for a fact I have reps closer! LOL
But get this I did purchase once from the website in the past BUT my DH didn't and we each got a postcard!
So who sold our information to them is the question?
I'm all for marketing but kinda unfair to that are in the area trying to make a business for themselves.
Is it possible that your DH name is on the credit card you used to buy from them before? Maybe that is how they got his name.
My contact in the business office said perhaps the wrong consultant was used as a mistake (see her quote below). a|s has done everything fairly for us consultants so far and I personally won't blame them for making a mistake when they are trying a new marketing technique since Direct Sales are brand new for them and they are just trying to get off to a good start.

All the postcards that were sent linked back to a consultant with a current webstore, but a mistake could have been made
I haven't seen the postcard since I have never ordered from them before I joined up but for most orders you can order from any consultant (not sure how the discount works, but I'm guessing you can use it on any consultant website)
Hope that helps and It really is a nice company and I'm sad that some people are finding trouble in this marketing campaign.

Again (not trying to be snarky), I've never ordered from Amuse, so that's not how they got my info. Would I be able to find out from the company how they did get it?
Lianne~~I went to "my" personalizedl website that amuse created for me (which I did not ask for) and was asked a couple of questions regarding hosting a workshop, etc. When I clicked continue I then was sent to a letter from Younkman where it gives a code that I "can use on my next purchase thru her web store. But hurry as it expires on June 30th". I know I can order from any consultant but can I use that code on any consultant's account and get a 20% discount? That I do not know.
Nancy:
I'm not sure how they got your name-(my post about the credit card was directed to the person who had ordered but her DH hadn't.) I bet if you email amuse they can answer your question and please tell us all what they say so we all know what's up! I hope we can all figure this out together!
Gails: maybe go to the regular store (www.amusestudio.com) and then choose the consultant you already know and then try to use the code. If it doesn't work, let me know and I will try to get an answer from the company (or feel free to email them yourself if you prefer! )
Their email is [email protected] for anyone who needs to get a hold of them for customer questions, or you can click the link on the contact us on the bottom part of their website.
If anyone finds any other info please tell us--then we will all be in the know! I will answer questions as best as I can but I know someone from the company headquarters will have the very best and most accurate answers.
I got a postcard today too. I don't even know the consultant!! I'm not too thrilled that somebody I don't even know was able to get my personel information. I may have to call Amuse and voice my opinion (for what it's worth).
I knew I could find an answer here!! I got a postcard, too. And since I have not ordered anything from their site, (mostly due to lack of funds, 'cause I do love there stuff!!! and I have to agree with Minders on that one, I need to be independently wealthy!! ;) } I was a liitle miffed over where they got my info.
Are all of you who have gotten the Post cards on Facebook? There have been many articles that Facebook sells their members' information and opting out is difficult to accomplish .
So far I have not gotten a Post card and I am not on Facebook .

Thanks for the e-mail info, Lianne, I will contact them.
Looks like you can't choose another consultant from the website, they already have you set up with the one whose name is on the postcard. Even if you go on through the main website, it's got that consultant's name at the top. wow!
I get tons of direct mail offers every day, very little of which I am interested in. I have been married for 25 years and get direct mail for singles dating. I would be thrilled to get a postcard for 20% off Amuse!

Thanks for posting the company's response, but I have never ordered from them - so they got my personal info from somewhere else.

Your computer might just be holding on to that cookie. If you clear them, you might be able to get to where you can find one closer.
I've purchased from Amuse in the past, and I've purchased from the new A Muse Studio. I haven't gotten a postcard.
I also received a postcard. I haven't gone into the site on the card, but how personal information are we talking about? Obviously name and address; was it more than that?
The part I'm most surprised by is being assigned a consultant. I have no idea who the consultant was on my card, nor do I intend to purchase through her as I have several friends who are consultants. If I can't change the consultant, I won't order.
