I just signed my papers yesterday at my uplines! (That is weird to say) I haven't thought about what exactly but I know most of the winter mini catalog and some other accessories so I can get some of the SAB sets.

Default don't forget

When getting stuff to start your business, you will want to get stuff from the current catty more then the minis. The mini sets aren't guarenteed to be in the next big catty. So if you are on a limited budget, you can spend your money on things that will be current for atleast the next 6 mths instead of the next 2 mths.

Good luck w/ your businesses!!!

I just have one suggestion: load up on the SNAIL refills. I wish I'd bought 12 of them when I had the 30% off. I bought a ton with free shipping. I go through that stuff like water...

yup that is why I only have the wheel guide and maybe some gingham ribbon because it says it will be in the next catty!! Of course I have no guarantee that the sets I chose will be in the next catty too, but have at least 6 months to play with them whereas if I ordered out of the minis only have limited time with them :(

I'm going to be a bad influence....

When I have my number (can't be soon enough!) I'm getting -
4 stamp sets (finally, canvas!)
crafter's kit
EE markers (have BB and SS now)
4 cardstock assts (2 BB, 1 SS, 1 RR)
6 ink pads (upgrading the spots gradually)
5 ink refills (starting my collection)
EE/RR chalk ink
3 punches - slit, square, notched
double line wheel
Lots of copper - EP, tags, CS
1 spectrum
EE fibers
Dazzling diamonds, heat and stick, liquid glue
wheel guide
other odds and ends I'm running out of

Okay, here comes the bad influence part.... my order adds up to $300.60 (without discount and hostess benefits). After all, I told myself, it's more logical to do a $300 order to get all the SAB sets and a Level 2 hostess set. Go on, Kar, add some more on!

Ducking and running,
Jeanne

uhmmmm Jeanne I want my DH to still be here... he is spending as much on guns as I spend on my "supplies" he told me... mostly I just NEED some cardstock... I am working on buying the colors instead of the assorted packs so that I have enough to do workshops and such... In laws are getting us a fireproof file cabinet for our farm stuff so taking my wooden one I got and storing my cardstock in there instead of the crate it is in now... Keeps the light off of it and the dust and dirt too

I am so psyched to get my number!

So far on my list is
EE Buttons
DD Glitter
Powder Pals
Detail EP Black and Gold
Tearing edge
Acrylic Grid

Canvas BG
BB paper asst
Pool Party Paper

and when I find out which ink colors changed when they changed pads I'll get those also (my upline said about 8 changed)

I have been a rabid stamper for 5 years, so I'm ordering the tools and embellishments that I know I use alot already, but need to get the SU ones to demo with. I also have many stamp sets and ribbon, enough to get me to the new catty, and ALOT of the nuetral card stock.

I really want to buy more sets, but can't justify it!

is anyone getting the new cutter or are you going to demo with the old one?? Do we have to spend the money for the new one?? I have 3-12x12 old ones and 1-8 1/2 x11 cutter already.

I signed on in July and want to pass on what my upline passed on to me.

Before you make your first order for that 30% off, make some set samplers and have an Open House. Do 2 make and takes and have some snacks, then allow your guests to look through the catty and order/make wishlists. Offer them a 1-time only 10% off deal on anything they order that day. This won't eat into your normal profit of 20%

That way, you can still order whatever you want with your 30%, PLUS you can make it a hostess order and get even more goodies, AND your guests are getting a deal. You may get bookings from it, as well.

I did this and had a $500 workshop with 6 ladies attending.

HTH

Voicing my opinion again...I love the new cutter so much better than the old one. And my customers that have bad eyesite, are so in love w/ the new one. Purchasing it has really gotten me a few more sales!! The old cutter will work fine too, but since you can't get the refills anymore, I think the new one is a great way to promote our products.

By the way, I didn't want to talk anyone out of purchasing things from the minis!! I myself, (well, my mom too) purchased many of the sets from this winter mini. You really should buy things you like, and if you are "just buying things to demonstrate with", it could show in your demonstrations!!! If there are a few sets though that you love in the big catty and don't have yet, I think your $$ is better served spent on the big catty instead of mini. Does that make sense???

Oh I love this company and am glad to hear all the excitement you ladies have! This will be so much fun for all of you I know!

okay I need some clarification

So, the 30% off is on your first HOSTESS order, correct? So, theoretically, I can place an order for $130 for myself(not enough to meet the hostess minimum) and then, when I have my first hostess workshop and it goes over $150 THAT is my first hostess order and the one I get 30% on?

Am I correct in this, or am I over-analyzing?

Andrea ~ I've been a demo since October and I needed to get some supplies (cardstock, inks) stuff that I didn't get with my Starter kit to plan for my 1st open house. I placed a demo order that totalled about $75 and that was at the 20%. Then once my open house was completed I placed my 1st HOSTESS order at the 30% off. So, yes you can place a smaller order initially and save the 30% discount for a larger order. Just make sure that you place that first hostess order within your first 45 days. Make sense?

I didn't realize that it was the first hostess order - that's interesting, thanks, Mi!

Kar, I'll try to be a better influence - having a DH around can be handy! Good for you for resisting temptation.

Regarding cutters - I'm not buying the new one... I'm also just a hobby demo to start. That said, I'm getting a Carl cutter - http://www.everafterarts.com/products_02.html - they offer a demo discount. I'm so tired of uneven Fiskars cuts - I've heard it's better with the new model.

Even if I do start doing workshops, I'd precut all the make and takes anyway, so none of my customers would ever have to know I was using the Carl. In case of a urgent cutting need, I'd bring the old style fiskars and, if I needed to take it out, say, "this is the one that SU used to sell, but they've got the latest terrific model, now."

hehehehehe I changed my mind AGAIN!! I wonder how many times I will change my mind before I put in an order... I decided the ONE thing I HAVE to have is the tool kit I figure if I am getting 30% off I might as well buy that now... I might even go ahead and get the cutter too while I am ordering... that isn't decided yet. I still got a few stamp sets on the list but not as many, and same ribbon, and cardstock.

I sent in my pwork on Friday. I can't wait!! I've changed my mind so many times for what I want to do for an open house. As a + from my upline, I get some free stuff from her, so I'm gonna get a calender, memo cube and the puzzle to have done and display at my open house.
I didn't know about the demo order vs. hostess order. yeahhhh!!! in my favor, cause I need some necesssities! I saw it was recommended earlier, I'm gonna do 2 make-n-take cards and thinking about a scrapbooking page-what size though?? I prefer 12x12 cause you can get more on a page, but for an open house would a 81/2x11 be best??-help. DH isn't any help
So for my 30% order:
more cardstock(in indiv. colors) all 8.5x11 and 12x12
circle/square punches
ribbon
bones 2-3 more for WS
Color coach-maybe get a couple for hostess gifts?
lots of ribbon, eyelets,

Do y'all recommend the goin out in style in the winter mini? Red hat society? Lots of them around here...
This is so awesome! Scared about starting my business, but soooo excited at the same time-even if its to support myself
