First... Practical Magic. Off hand, I can't remember the character names, but When Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were little girls, The Aunties talked about when they were young witches they would go to the Summer Solstice and dance naked under the full moon!!
The second movie is Devine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood. Just when the girls were younger, they would be in their undies and they would dance around the campfire. Almost naked, but the stamped scene reminds me of these movies.
Not Offended!!

isn't that stamp based on roman art somewhere? it reminds me of that time period when women bathed/dressed together and they were close/sisterly. It's possible that back in the day, they may have been (gasp) intimate, but to assume those ladies, in that card image, are l e s b i a n and the holding hands is s e x u a l is taking it a tad too far!
I thought the bras/panties were cute and done in good taste and in good humor.

"Art is in the eye of the beholder." Don't ask me who said that because I don't have a clue. These cards are just too cute and I will be CASEing them for invitiations to a lake party next summer. If you eyes don't like this art, them close them and move on - there's nothing "dirty" about them.

lol, I saw that stamp this week also and immediately went to the site and ordered it. My dh has been an appliance repairman for 33.5 years and I can't wait to make a card for him with this stamp. I might even make a little plaque with it for his shop
As for the underwear stamps, I kind of like them as a change of pace from all the flowers and animals (I love all them too, but sometimes you want something unique for a special reason). Like a bra for "thanks for the support" or the undies for "just a brief note". What's wrong with bringing a little humor to someone now and then. Not appropriate for everyone, but we all know someone who would have a happier day if they received one of these cards;)
Just like it's everyone else's right to post their cards here as long as the mods don't censor them, it's also your right to be offended. I don't think you need to be attacked for that.
I wouldn't say I was offended by these cards, but I don't think they're cute/funny/etc. I would never make a card like that and if I received one, I'd have to guess that the person who sent it didn't know much about me. But I don't care what anyone wants to make/upload. If they like it and they had fun making it, more power to them! I just won't spend my time looking at them.
Listen, I can really see why somebody brand-new might be a bit, mmm, startled to come across so many bra-and-panty cards in a row, lol. If I had seen them before this post, I would have immediately assumed "VSN." But I've been around here quite awhile. She was just caught off guard, ok?
I thought they were all quite adorable, lol! I know I've seen that stamp with the dancing gals for years, now, and I can almost picture having some notecards with that image at one time. As nudes go, though, it's pretty tame!
Sounds like you guys had a great time with this VSN! Thanks for rounding up all of the uploads for us to see!

Check the TOS. I don't think anyone's rights were frumpled except the members whose art was singled out for criticism and made the subject of a thread. And the mods are here to censor and make sure that all threads fall in line with the TOS.

I'm sorry, I don't think I understand your comment. I don't see how her comments "frumpled" anyone's rights. She didn't demand that those images be censored; she just asked if others were bothered by them. And I don't see what any of this has to do with the TOS. I just wanted to stick up for the OP because everyone was rolling their eyes at her and getting upset and while I wasn't "offended" myself, I can see how someone might not be comfortable with those kinds of cards. They're just not everyone's cup of tea.

I agree. The original poster didn't single any one card out, just mentioned the kind she'd seen. On the other hand, some of the comments have been more directly aimed at her and perhaps on the rude side of snarky. I think she was just bothered and wanted to start an honest discussion about it, which I think is a great thing!
I don't see that the panty cards on here are any worse than the Sears catalog my brothers used to ogle. Thongs still gross me out to no end, though. To quote Mini Driver, "It makes me feel like me bum ate me underwear." I heard her say that on Rosie years ago when thongs were the latest thing.
Ok, I totally think those cards are cute! And, many are right in saying they are definitely not for everyone. I would have to make sure the person i was sending it too would be comfortable before doing so.
And I took a peek at some of those demented and twisted cards. Some clever gals around here! :-) I dont know if I could take a normal stamp and do something different with it, I wouldnt even have thought it up. But thanks for the ideas. :-D
Okay, I just looked at the naked girls holding hands and as I was clicking on the link I was wondering how bad it was going to be. My first thought when I saw the card was "oh! that's just like a scene from an ancient Greek vase". Absolutely not offended at this, it's not a scene that's meant to be dirty or even erotic, to me the scene looks like something I'd see in a painting or vase in a museum.
Wow, this is an interesting post. I am so surprised that anyone is offended by the bra and panties cards. Just cute and silly cards. Not a thing to be offended by. The naked women holding hands, huummm not offensive either. I liked the card myself. I guess I am open minded and not easily offended.
Guess its all in the way you look at it.
I wasn't offended either but I think the funniest was GRANNY PANTIES! THAT I could identify with! She didn't care for the thong THING! It's all just for fun. Ladies being creative.
The bra and panties are funny in a way. Guess I would prefer the granny panties myself. I however would never sell the naked girls card in my shop. If you had someone specific to send it to maybe, but I would never openly have it in a store where young children come in Art or no. We have censored things out that are considered not in good taste in the antiques as well.(My gift shop is inside my parents antique mall) There are racial things that we have censored out even though those are antique. Should we have left those just because they are part of history?
SU had a set (Fashion Statements) that had a bra on a hanger and the sentiment "thanks for your support". I didn't know I was cutting edge when I sent that one out to my friends! They also had "knit happens" - what a potty mouth!
That is what I was thinking - I participated in one of the T&D swaps (a holiday one)...nothing like trying to figure out how to get boobs on Frosty...
I love the pantie ones...
as for the nude art one...well that is just a style - if you have ever leafed through some of the more classic stamp magazines (thinking along the lines of Somerset and Stampington ??? not Stamp It) you will occassionally see nude stamps protrayed in classic stamped art cards...heck you go to an Art museum and see lots of things "hanging out"

I wasn't offended at all! I thought they were all too cute and will be making some for some of my friends and my DH! I think it is funny when people take a stamp and use it to make something different. I would love for there to be an area here that was just for things like that (is there one and I just don't know about it???)!
Everyone has different tastes and I think SCS is great for letting all these ideas be seen. If a card isn't to someones liking, on to the next! There are lots of cards I don't care for, but I just move on. I love to see all the creativity put into the work here. I would never be offended though, everyone is different.
I laughed right out loud at Frances' challenge, but I knew someone was going to be offended. I say I appreciated the lighter atmosphere and break away from all the frills and flourishes that appear so much in the galleries. You go girl. And remember offendees, you do have a back button.
