I don't know if this has ever been discussed. My sister wants me to make her Christmas cards this year but she likes to be different. What are some good non-traditional christmas colors?
Last year I used natural white, basic black and copper. I embossed a tree in white on copper paper, layer it with black then snowflake vellum, put on the white card, stamped saying in black and used copper cord and a small rhinestone on top of the tree. It was very beautiful. I'll try to post one today.
last year I used plum and mellow moss. This year I'm using tempting turquoise and brilliant blue. I have also seen great cards using black, creamy caramel and ruby red.
I like to use summer sun or more mustard with red...this year I am using mellow moss, chocolate chip, and real red, with the Loads of Love set. Very cute!
if you're thinking retro -- pink and brown or light blue and brown are very non traditional.
Also -- different shades of traditional red and green can also be striking -- for example certainly celery with real red or pixie pink with gable green.

I have used browns, black and silver, plum and silver...some are posted in my gallery. I really like the plum. But my all time favorite christmas colors are blue and silver or white.
Well, I am a bit new to this, but have always been a pretty crafty, creative person so here goes...
I have already started making my XMas cards for the year... because there's not a lot of free time, and I am using SU's Rich Regals paper. I am using a lot of the deep blues and purples. I also like the darker pinkish colors because they're different.
I think any deep, dark colors would be great for your XMas cards.
Good luck!

I just did a bunch in the new "In Color" colors - marigold, cranberry, buckaroo blue, thyme and violet!! These make very nice Christmas cards!!

My fave color combo for the holidays is Real Red, Certainly Celery, Taken With Teal, and Always Artichoke. This color combo came from the Technique booklet and it is stunning!

I'm with the "blues". Last year I used ballet blue and white. This year I'll probably stick with blue and white, but may emboss with silver. I'm using the old "Peace" set with the dove. I love that set.
Last year I cased an adorable Cold Play card in So Safron, Brocade Blue and Pumpkin... But I also love the Shabby Chic thing; Pretty and Pink, Certanly Celery and silver! So nice and soft... just add snowflakes!!

Those sound like great colors together...I will have to find some time to play!
This year I'm going traditional for one set of cards (can't stand to make more than 20 of the same thing). I'm using Christmas Rose stamp from last year's SU Holiday mini and using real red, vanilla, hunter green and a little mustard, some glitter and various other shades of green for watercoloring.
However, I'm going to do another card -- more contemporary -- with a Peace theme and that one is going retro. Probably brown and some shade of blue -- perhaps Cocoa and Bashful Blue . I'll use the latter cards for teachers and co-workers, where I'm looking for a card that is appropriate for folks who aren't into Christmas in a religious way at all.
The, my Hannukah cards will be shimmery white paper for sure, with purple and blue and green.

My upline did hers with Pumpkin and Bashful Blue (snowmen theme) and one year with all pinks (I think they were Poinsettas) and they were so bright and cheery.

I did a card for Jamis swap, using Festive Favorites, and used new Cool Caribbean for base card, and new Buckaroo Blue and Perfect Plum for the layers. I wanted a "cool" effect.
