Any suggestions for putting the stamping part of my brain to bed? I have become a real insomniac in the past year as I can't justify spending time sleeping when there are so many cards and projects to do. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a support group? You know - Hi! I'm Lucinda and I'm a stampaholic. Thanks for listening.
Sorry I have no suggestions. I finally walked away from my craft table last night and got into bed. When I looked up I realized my ceiling fan looks like the Big Blossom stamp and I started making cards in my head!!
Hi, I'm Sharon and I'd like to join that support group...to coin a phrase ~ "I've benn there, done that" ~ so I know exactly what you mean. I'm a super slow stamper, so cards and projects seem to take me forever. Luckily there's a bed in my craft area so when I am able to catch a few winks, I can maybe dream about how it will turn out.
You girls are soooo funny. The comment about the ceiling fan cracked me up. I know my DD and I were out shopping and I told her to look at this bath towel, it looked like Cool Carribean. She told me I need to get away from the stamping stuff for awhile. No way, it is my only outlet at home. Oh yuck, it's time to go to my exercise class.
I can't sleep. Got my demo ID yesterday. Slept a few hours. Now it's 5:00am but I've been up since 3. Making cards, thinking of SU sales I could offer. My head is spinning!
Some nights I just can't turn off my brain. Especially if I am working on something that I can't seem to get quite right. I lay in bed awake for hours and obsess about it and think of ways to make it better. So while I may not stay up late nights stamping very often, I do stay up late thinking about stamping. . .
Stamping is always on my mind... I went to a SU! party today and when I walked into this ladys home, I said," wow, your wall colors would make a perfect card...". It is always on the mind!!!

Hello, my name is Tamara and I need help.... I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that can't sleep for thinking of card ideas and calls things by the SU color....Oh that sweater is Rose Red....

Hello, my name is Dana and I also have a problem. Tee hee...
My stamping friends and I always reference colors by using the SU names, especially when we're describing something over the phone. But try dropping that name with someone unfamiliar with this hobby and you'll get an interesting stare. Believe me, I've done it before.
I seem to be lured late into the night skulking about the galleries and forums here more than I am in creating a card. I used to stay up making cards, but my habits changed when I discovered SCS.
Ladies, I see I am not alone in my stamping uber-obsession. I often go to bed later than I should because I just wanted to finish "one more card," and even when I finally go to bed, I thinking about the next card Have also been known to neglect my housework in favor of more creative pursuits. On the plus side, we have a hobby that brings such enjoyment, so I guess it's a worthwhile trade.

I hope there is some help group:p

That's FUNNY!!!!! I go to bed,but I do lay there and think about colors and layouts, etc. until I fall asleep. Had a really good idea last night about 3 am. Wished I'd written it down...cause I don't remember what it was!!!!! Oh well....
Speaking of colors - my DDs have begun to talk about things in terms of SU colors. We were out the other day, and one noticed a house saying that it was "Certainly Celery." I laughed so hard when I realized what she was saying.
My DDs love to stamp with me. I can see that something is rubbing off.
I think I need to join the group too, I finished stamping at 2.15 am last night/morning, I didn't care that I had work in the morning, I kept saying to myself I'll just finish this little bit and then I'll go to bed (with hubby in the background 'you do know what time it is don't you!'. I also have a notepad at the side of my bed in case I think of any ideas for cards.
Hubby did get a bit worried this morning when he noticed embossing powder in my hair!
Yes, I really have experienced this. Especially when I first started stamping. Now everyone says my body is just preparing me for when my twins come, but for now, I stamp during my insomnia too. If you actually do want to attempt to sleep, sketch your idea with as much details as possible. Since I'm not good at drawing, my card never comes out looking the way the sketch was, but I don't forget what I wanted to use when I was first inspired! Sometimes, just writing down where I was at, or what I was doing helps remind me of my inspiration. I can't say this works every time, but give it a try!
Lucinda,,,,We are so in the same boat. I spend the entire day thinking of stamping and finally get some peace and quiet to stamp when everyone is in bed. I am only able to do this once or twice a week and the rest of the time, I force my self to go to bed at 11. Even when I'm up and don't feel like stamping, I'm on SCS. Sweet Dreams!
Well, it's 11:55 am and I was going to bed early tonight. <sigh> maybe tomorrow night. I have actually dreamed cards and gotten up and made them. Somehow they are always prettier in my dreams! (Artistically challenged here!)

I'm an insomniac... I can create and stamp so much better at night than during the day.. hours can go by and it feels like seconds... why is that?
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
do something completely different before going to bed, read a trashy novel, or a not so trashy novel...don't get into bed with the laterst crafting magazine. Drink some sleepy time tea. Dim the lights. All that stuff will still be on the craft table in the AM
