There are "no chatter" posts that means no side-talk, info only. So in the convention threads, you only posted if you had new information about something, not a comment or question. Think of it as "just the facts." Sometimes the thread remains "open" which means anyone can post, and then it usually doesn't stay "no chatter" because people don't read that it isn't for "chatter". Other times, the thread is "closed" and the moderators take the information from other threads and post it there themselves.
This helps because if you look at Day 4 No Chatter from the SU! convention, you'll see only 10 posts. This contains the info, where as the chatter thread from day 4 has about 26 PAGES of comments.
It is basically giving information, without people back and forth talking! That way people get the facts and do not have to go through all the conversation! HTH!!

It just means that the thread is supposed to include "just the facts," announcements only, not discussion about the announcements or speculation about what the announcements will be. The no chatter threads are set up so that people can quickly scan the thread to find out all of the new information.
Oh my goodness - thank you (all). I want almost all things to be that way, 'cause I am usually just looking for facts and/or info and then there are these conversations and sidebars going on and I get super-distracted and spend hours on here forgetting what I was looking for! I'm sure you can relate. I was crazy reading these posts and looking at blogs for the past 4 or 5 days, since I have never been to convention. I really must stop. I will get my catalog soon - and will be just as excited as if I hadn't been reading about it nonstop for days! Again, thanks for the info.

That sums it up ... the only way to get rid of chatter is to not allow anybody to post.
I'd hate to have to go through the chatter threads looking for info ... Belinda and Lorien did most (all?) of the work this year ... they really deserve our thanks for everything they did!
