Question New SU Demo & looking for WOW Make N Take Project!

Hi Everyone,

I've offically joined up as a SU demo - Yippee!

I'm also lucky enough to have booked my first party with a friend - in less than 2 weeks! The downside is my friend and her invitees (also my friends & my new upline) have been to a few parties already & I'll only have my starter kit to play with 4 days prior.

So I'm wondering if anyone could be so kind as to tell me about one of their favourite "WOW" Make-N-Takes.

I used to teach jewellery/beading & had a favourite design that suited nearly all students - just had to change the color. It also appeared very impressive but was super easy for a beginner student. They always left my class really proud of themselves & ready to show it off to friends saying that they "made it themselves!".

I'd love to find a project that will achieve the same result.

I have limited SU Product - basically the starter kit (well it's on it's way inks include Choc Chip, Rose Red, Regal Rose & Tempt Turq,) and the Bold Brights Spots. I also have all the current AU In Color Cardstock & inks at hand together with all color family cardstock.

The Stamp sets I will have available for use include
  • Fun & Fast Notes
  • Sincere Salutations
  • Sassy Stems
  • Live Your Dream
  • One Of a Kind
  • Priceless
  • Spring Solitude
  • Taggers Dozen
  • Short N Sweet
  • A Little Bit of Happiness
  • Touch of Nature
  • Sprinkles
  • Simple Somethings

My Upline has also kindly offered to lend me any of her supplies for the night. I am anticipating asking her to bring some punches & perhaps some ribbon

Does anyone have a favourite project they are will to share?

I would really appreciate your help - if anyone has an easy but impressive project for a beginner demo please share! Pretty Please!

Thanking you in anticipation.

Corinna

PS Thanks to all who share in the gallery - your work is wonderful & a never-ending inspiration!

First some of the sets you list are retired so you cannot demonstrate them at a workshop. Also, if you post on the demonstrator side there are a lot of resources there (you can easily join there is a thread in this forum with details)

The following sets are retired: Sassy Stems, Live Your Dream, Spring Solitude, Taggers Dozen, A Little Bit of Happiness, Touch of Nature, & Simple Something,

I notice that you haven't joined the SU! demos only forum yet! There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum that will give you the instructions on how to join. When you join the demo forums, you'll have access to a special set of galleries for demos that can show you just what you are looking for here, plus the forums where you can get all kinds of advice.

The OP is in Australia...those probably aren't retired there.

I would recommend using Fun and Fast Notes. It is super versatile and you could use a couple of stamps to demo. I used it at my first open house and sold one right there. I was so excited! You could use strips of paper as a faux ribbon sort of, or you could borrow some matching ribbon. That set is cute as it is I think. Do you have the matching wheel? I can't remember if the starter kit comes with it now. Good luck!!

I would do a simple project with "priceless" I think everyone would fall in love with that stamp set. Check out the gallery here for that set. It has tons of beautiful cards.

Thanks to you all for your great suggestions and ideas they are very much appreciated.

I haven't joined the demo side yet cause I'm waiting for my paperwork to be processed by SU - shouldn't be too much longer!

JanTink - Yes your right I am from Australia!

So all the stamps sets mentioned in my prev post will be current at the date of the workshop except for "One of a Kind" which is in the mini Catty which finishes end of Nov.

Thanks again

FWIW, one of my fav make n take experiences was when the demo had 4 very different, simple to make, cards from one stamp set. It wasn't a set I'd have normally picked, but becasue I could see how versatile it was, I ended up getting (and loving) it. (It's the Shapes and Shadows set, not on your list, but I bet if you go into the gallery under any one of your sets, you may find several easy card ideas.)

Have a fun time!

The first workshop I went to the demo made a bag-a-lope, I reckon half the people there ended up buying wheels, cartridges and envelopes. You have the taggers dozen set - so I think this would be a great simple idea to demo.
I also think a card with Priceless is a good idea there a some great simple cards in the gallery with this set that are stunning.
Good Luck! :-)

if there is any way to show embossing, I would do that. It drew me in hook, line, and $inker.

One of the things I liked to do is pick a project that I can do in 3 different levels. I think there was a magazine that used to do that with cards, maybe Paper Crafts? But with projects.

First level is kind of plainer, second is jazzed up a bit, and the third has the works on it. The first one should be just as nice, and offer the people there the ability to make the project not having to get a ton of things so it isn't intimidating. The final one should offer those people that love to get stuff so that offers more things for them to get!

Just perusing through the gallery I like the box in a bag thing, there is a santa and mrs. santa there, that was really cute!! Maybe leave it plain on the first and bling it up along the way with different things?
