I can't wait to see the new catty! It sounds like I'm going to "need" some stuff. I'm really curious about the case for the blocks? Does it keep them kind of separated? And can't wait for the new colors!
I am a demo but really just a total hobby demo...meaning I only buy for myself, I dont just buy SU stuff and I like lots of different styles but I understand that you want non-demos to post here so I will just try to keep my answers to questions posed...as much as I can give without giving away too much! LOL
Ribbons: Yes, you can still buy single rolls of ribbons, but the ribbons are offered in only a core collection of colors. Its called the "getting started collection" and its 12 colors. Some of the new colors are part of that collection. There are still several "styles" of ribbon available but they are all available in just those 12 colors.
Clear Mount case: Yes, it has an insert that protects each block. Each block has its spot in the interior.
Saw it today and eh, not really much I want. I have seen it all at other companies. I saw only things that were in the other catty that I really want. I saw 3 whole things.

No, no, no!!!! ALL types of ribbon are available in the same colors. So, there is a collection of like 12 colors (I think...I GOTTA go find my catty) call the "getting started collection". It's a mix of all color collections so that you have a few colors from each (something great for someone who is just starting out...hence the name). Anyway, say there are 6 kinds of ribbon (can't remember how many) like satin, taffeta, etc....well ALL of those ribbons are offered in ALL of the getting started colors. Ok, have I made it better or just confused you? LOL! The ribbons are GREAT! I don't even want to KNOW what I'm going to spend on ribbon on just the FIRST order!!!!!
ETA: Ok, Kelly beat me....I missed a few posts somehow:-) Sorry to repeat!!!
I had an ever so quick look over lunch one day, about 25 minutes to look at 200plus pages. I barely remember anything! But Leisa, there is a sihlouette-ish Christmas set that features the wisemen and Bethlehem, and some really Christian Christmas sentiments. You may like that one. I wish I could remember other things, but only one or two detailed sets caught my eye. The card samples seemed refreshing to me because of the new colours.
A new coffee set? woo hoo! I hope it's a good one! I like the new core colors, but nothing about the new In Colors impressed me. Maybe I'll need to see them in person to really decide. In the end, I'll probably get some paper and ink and that's about it. But I haven't seen the catty, so that cold change.
Another question...the DSP that comes in colors with the prints pattern. Are those the same old patterns that they've had around for the last three or four catalogs? I'm kinda gettting tired of them. Just curious.
Mary Rose...now that you mention the coffee set...I'm sure that was one that jumped off the page at me saying "get me"! And I didn't even look to see if the designs on the papers changed. I agree, some of them could go bye bye and I'd never miss them! I do love polkadots, stripes, and grid paper, though! I wish they would make more classic, totally versatile designs.
You can't see the level one hostess sets because we can't pre order them. I think they figure we will earn them so no need to pre order. I don't ususally like the level ones (or many of them anyway) and I like ALL of them this year! So, it's just different strokes for different folks!
Now, to decided which ONE I want first:-)
And I have a question for Deb, I didn't get your post about the DSP and colors???? Can you elaborate??? And I "think" there are a FEW rub ons...catty isn't handy right now. PLUS, don't forget that they tend to add stuff like that in the minis as well!
Some of the DSP is now being sold in color groups. Instead of buying all 1 color as we had to in the pass, the packages are now per color group. In colors, brights, subtles, regals & neutrals. I am really excited about this..
I know all the demos are promising that the new catty is their favorite in a long time, best they've seen in years, etc. I also know and understand that they can't really talk about it.
Okay, so I was wondering if anyone that's NOT A DEMO has seen a copy? Perhaps you may have seen a copy at your demo's house...certainly not because you broke in to her house when she wasn't there in your enthusiasm to see it...ha! If you have seen it, what are your impressions? What did you like the best about it? Were there any stamp sets that got you all hot and flustered with excitement? If so, spill it sister....uh, I mean, ah, would you kindly please share your thoughts and impressions? Seriously, I'm just dying to know, so THANKS!
I've seen it. It's nice, but not the greatest thing ever.
There is a new owl punch - darling. There is also a new bat punch, personally, most of us have seen the bat thing done inside and out with MS etc, but it's there.
Some new stamp sets but far fewer than I expected after looking at the length of the retiring list. There is a set w/a buffalo which caught my eye b/c DH thinks bison are so cool.
I was hoping for new embosslits, there are none. Come to think of it, several things I was hoping for were not there; my demo said to wait until the Christmas mini.
Prices are overall not too bad - except 8.5 paper - now 6.95/24 sheets (I think that's right). Quite a price hike there.
Oh, and I like the color combos of the DP better than ever (I've been shopping SU 3 years or so).
IMO some potential but not enough to worry about how I'm going to pay for all of the things I would like.
Can anyone tell me if the Ornament Punch is in the new catties?
I'm pretty sure that this is supposed to be in the new catty. I'm going to a SU card class today and I'll see the catty there. I check this thread when I come back to see if someone else answered you.
I'm thinking there is going to be another set that goes with this punch....maybe in a mini closer to Christmas time.

Hi Janey,
yes, SU really are good at putting the N next to the items in the main part of the catty, but there's no N in the stamp index to note that it is new. It would be a really quick way to see what was new - at a glance so to speak.

There's someone on Ebay already selling some of the new color card stock, stamps, pens & ink pads from the upcoming catalog. They have daffodil delight, Marina mist & a bunch of other new products listed. How were they able to receive the new products so quickly?

from what I can remember, the prints are new. but, there are only 2 double sided pages, but in each color (I can't remember how many of each sheet you get though, I think it depends on the color group). does that make sense?
I keep reading about the DSP being in color groups and I'm going to stick my neck out and sound dense here. . . . I don't quite understand.
Usually it's packs of DSP that have a variety of coordinating designs and they use specified SU colors.
So, are you saying there are now just packs with one design but that pack has some/all of the colors of a color group?
Sorry if I'm sounding stupid!! And I know it won't really be long before I can see the catalog, but like the rest of you it's taking TOO LONG!!!!!
There are 10 colours in each family. There are 2 double sided designs. You get 2 sheets of each design in each colour for total of 40 sheets. 4 sheets of each in In Colour for total of 40 sheets as there are 5 of those colours. Clear as mud? :-)

That cleared it up for me...thanks, happyinker. It sounds good to me, too. I love designer paper and think that having more colors to match the core colors is terrific. The only problem I have with DP is that IMO for making cards, some of the designs are too large. I personally love small prints, polka dots, and stripes. So I'm wishing for smaller patterns. The thing is, someone else might be wishing for larger...to each his own! Either way, I can't wait to see....
So saw the new catty today! Excited. The new colors are beautiful and there are some fantasic new sets and ideas in the catty. There is a new set that coordinates with ornament punch and with butterfly punch. Kimono kids is adorable and I just loved the hostess set that matched the punches. quite a few new impression folders that were great as well. As I said overall excited.

No - seriously clear!! Thank you so much!!
And I like smaller patterns a lot more, too - actually a full-size sheet of SU dsp tends to make me a little queasy (okay, stop laughing now ;) ).
I love my SU paper much more when I cut it up into 6 x 6. No, that doesn't change the size of the pattern any, but I find I like it better when I see it that way.
I was able to peek at it and there are SEVERAL great things. Layout is awesome. Really awesome. Disappointed with some of the holiday stamp sets... still hardly anything for Easter, didn't see any St. Patrick's day stuff, but then again, it was only a peek.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of the storage containers now... containers for the blocks, containers for the punches, for the sizzix, for the dies, for everything! LOVE IT!!! And the owl punch, my friend Lynn can not wait to get ahold of that little fella.
You must click on the quote button in the bottom right of the person's post that you want to quote. BTW - You can also quote only part of a post, as I've done with yours. You just leave in what you want between the quote brackets.
Blah, Blah, Blah.....just trying out the "Quote" thing...I've never figured out or researched how to do that so I'm trying it out now. Thanks for the tutorial!! as I search the forums for interesting news on the new SU catty!

Yea!! That quote thing works!! I'm so excited! I knew it would be easy since everyone else seems to know how to do it except me. Now, I can quote people!!!!!
Thanks so much LeisaJane - and yes, your gallery is amazing and beautiful!!!

Well, I hope you'll come back and let us know what you think after tomorrow! I'm so jealous!!
Well, I'm back tonight and I went to the SU class and I saw the new catalog
I love the new owl punch and the bat punch is neat. There's also a neat border punch, it reminds me of the MS lace trim punch. The punch storage system is neat, but I wouldn't have use for it.
I found there to be quite a few new masculine type stamps, which I think SU really needed to change up a bit. There is a new set with some nice tree images (not sure what it's called). I saw a new Christmas set that I have to get (I can't remember the name of it at the moment) and I saw a cute set with children in it- that one reminded me of the Vintage Valentine's set. I love the new set that goes with the ornament punch and the set that goes with the butterfly punch- those I'll have to get.
I'm not sure how much more I'm allowed to tell, so I'll just say that over all I liked the new catty, but it's not like I have to go out and buy the whole thing....LOL Mostly I think I'll be saving up for the new colors items and a couple of the stamp sets.
i saw the new catty...while i loved loved loved most of it....was still very much disappointed that there was not a empty ink pad to use with all of the craft ink refills that they still offer....

Gaby - How sweet you are! Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm also glad to help with the quote thing. I've had help from so many others on SCS. I'll always try to help someone figure out a new skill....even though my knowledge may be limited. Thanks, again!
Patty - Thanks for coming back and sharing. Something you posted stopped me dead in my tracks....new tree images???!!! That would be my absolute favorite. Now I'm just itching to see the new catty!!!!

I remember seeing a new nature type set and it had a really nice tree image in it. It reminded me of the Lovely as a Tree set. The whole set was not tree images, but I remember one really nice tree stamp in that set. I don't have the catty in front of me, so I can't recall exactly.

I saw it and I LOVED it!!!!! While there are LOTS of returning sets the new ones were gr8t! Here's what I saw and loved.
Morning Cup is the sweet little coffee/tea combo. I adore coffee and tea stamps, and that will be on my list of "needs".
There is a cute one called Kimono Kids....Chinese lanterns and Asian children, a sweet one called Hand Knit with cute knitting themed stamps.
One I'll get for sure is...Blowing Kisses-it's a sweet little bunny with a heart shaped bubble wand blowing heart shaped bubbles,
a get well called Speedy Recovery with cars.
Friends Forever has cute Scottie dogs.
A great set that I think matches the ornament punch. About six ornaments-each one with a different design on it that you can punch out. A set of five or six bird cages..each one is very cool. A set of butterflys that match the butterfly punch. There was a cute santa face...
And some antique brads that caught my eye.
I was very happy with what I saw!!!!

FINALLY some hints of some new sets! THANK YOU!!! They all sound great can't wait to see the new catty - not sure why it is such a SECRET - one would think that SU would want the excitement to get out there and not keep it such a secret! I am sure there are many like myself that has bought all they are going to buy out of the old catty and are looking for new goodies! I have seen the new colors of the card stock and am NOT impressed - I feel they are getting rid of some great colors - especially the purples/lavenders but that is me! I have no choice but to wait for the new catty to arrive so it is great that we are getting a few tidbits from SCS!
