I've been in search of a decent cutter for a long time. I was given a gift certificate to my LSS and bought a small Tonic because it said it could cut to 8 1/2"--well either the advertising was misleading or the way I read it was, you can cut a piece of 8 1/2" paper but you can't slide it apart at 11" to make 2 cards. Very frustrating to me. So I'm hopeful.
I'm really loving the new catalogue--love the detail in the projects so I can figure out 'how the heck did they do that'. I don't have a local demo, the one who got me hooked to SU isn't too helpful, so mine is long distance so I need all the help that I can get.
As for the Gumball Green--I love it. My demo sent a punched out square of each of the new colors so I could see them in real life and they are most certainly better in real life. Didn't like the new yellow but love it now that I have seen it. Now I just need to trim my list before June 1st so I can place my order and play with my new goodies.
Nope, just a small sampling of new things...that's why you're only seeing a handful of different stamp sets on blogs and in the gallery:-) Now, we used to be able to order anything out of the minis...I'm wondering if that will change now that the mini's (seasonal catalogs I mean...that's going to be a hard habit to break) are a bit bigger. I hope not:-)
The cutter does look nice though! And I have to say that I'm not sure I'd be so keen on starfruit had I not seen it everywhere lately....Target...The Limited (I have a sweater that made me fall in love with the color!) and so forth.....
Can someone describe the gumball green? If it's not against the rules I mean. I don't want to get anyone in trouble or get me in trouble too!
Is it a bright green, light green, dark green? Is it a blue green or a yellowy green?
I'd say its a medium, bright true green.
not bright like green galore (retired, if you know that color) but not muted like Wild wasabi
it's a Smidge darker than PTI New Leaf, if you have seen that
ETA: here's an awesome sample by Mary Fish that uses it in comparison with
Wild Wasabi and Garden Green (it's in the center and the ribbon)
Has anyone noticed that the clock in Clockworks has 2 V's and no VI then goes to VII? I noticed that last night when I was looking closer at things!
Luckily enough demos noticed it and notified Support. So they're fixing it.
Official blurb:
The artwork for the clock face image in the Clockworks Stamp Set is shown incorrectly in the catalog. When you purchase this set, however, you will receive the correct image.
Have any demonstrators seen and played with the new Stamping Trimmer on page 180? Price isn't bad but would love to know how people have used it feel about it.
Stampin' Up announced it wouldn't be available until June 1.
*I have to say up front that I haven't read this whole thread yet. I just popped over here right away after I emailed SU about the new catalog.
For 15+ years I've looked forward to seeing the new catalog when it was released. This morning I looked through maybe 30 pages when I then I started wondering if I should just throw it in the trash right now. I HATE the chopped up pictures of the samples. Why would they do that????????? The samples are a huge part of the appeal. They sell the stamps! What a freakin' waste of ink and paper.
I love my demo, but I think I'll give the catalog back.
I was waiting for someone to say something like this. I agree with you so much! I thought the SU stamps were lovely, but there were no pretty pictures like in the old catalogs! Usually I can spend a lot of time enjoying looking at what to do with the stamps. Now there are so many stamps that I don't have any idea what to do with. It was a huge disappointment. I don't want to go online. I paid to buy the paper catalog and now it's not that special.
I understand how you feel and don't disagree with you. But here's a suggestion I hope will help. Shortly after the catalog goes live, lots of SU demos and fans will be posting gorgeous creations that they've made with the new stamps and accessories.
Come to SCS, and at the top of the page, click on "gallery," then on the left, under Search, type in SUO and click on "Go." If you're looking for ways to use a certain stamp set, instead of SUO (Stampin' Up! Only), type in the name of the set you're looking for. As time goes by more and more cards and other projects will be posted using the new supplies.
I have always found much more inspiration here than in the limited pages of the SU catalog.
HTH,

I listened and took your advice. I left the catalog alone and slept on it. Looking through it this morning, I feel the same way. I'm really bummed. Yes, I could come here and look for samples, but I'd really rather see full samples in the catalog and have the little details available online. That makes more sense to me. Oh well. All the better for my pocketbook and the LSS.

That's actually one of the reasons it's now called the Annual Catalogue and not the "Idea Book and Catalogue". Although it still contains some inspiration and ideas, the cost of the catalogue for demos has been lowered, (and thus the cost to customers as well), and many demos are giving catalogues to their regular customers/club members.
If you feel disappointed, let your demo know, and send an email to Stampin' Up!
I hope you can find stamps that you like ... with ideas to match. Obviously I wish they are SU! ... but it's more important to be happy and content with what you purchase.
Would a SU demo be able to tell me what the cost is (to the demonstrator) to have a catalog directly shipped to a customer? We want to reimburse the cost to ours (she lives out of town and we don't have as many parties as we used to for her).

It all depends on how she had it shipped. I think that is very nice of you to want to reimburse her.

Look back just a few posts at 290 I posted a link there to Mary Fish.
Thanks, I did post my question after looking at her comparisons. She compares current colors, so Crushed Curry was not included. I have one or two packs of Crushed Curry, so I'm wondering how it compares to Summer Starfruit. Anybody? Thanks!

Current lighting here is terrible, or I would take a picture for you.
SS has quite a bit more green in it, compared to CC.
It almost seems like SS is River Rock + CC.
Muted yellow/green.

It's either $5 each or $8.50 each, depending on whether she ordered the Bulk rate or Premium rate. Premium rate probably arrives in a Priority envelope.
ok, I did have the marker so I tried to put this color comparison together for you. Rose Romance is close to Primrose petals but Primrose is a slightly warmer color... maybe more pinkish then purplish of the Rose Romance. Hopefully you can see from the picture.
Yeah, I think some sleep really put a perspective on that....I think I'll be my own best customer. I'm a demo again
Ha ha! Well, welcome back! Enjoy the 30% off your first big order after you sign back up. And don't forget you can pick sneak peek items in your starter kit!
Welcomeback, it is such a good deal I don't know how anyone can pass it up.
I think I'm right behind you. I have a antique sewing machine and set of china that I'm going to try and sell. This early retirement is great until you remember you have less money:(
I got home and Dh says - you have a package - wooohooo! My catty had arrived. LOL
I grabbed it, changed into jammies and hit the bed. he came in later and said - what did you get - the new Stampin Up catty - Well, I'll see you next week - and with that he left the room. LOL
I really only have about 5 stamp sets marked as must have's, with tons of paper etc.
But I only went through it one time and really in a rush. LOL
I do have it with me today, to go back through.

I guess this thread was started by a non- demo? I was wondering why a moderator does not take this thread to a demo only site.
I guess I am partial speaking a person who was unable to see the new catty before the link was taken down and I am a bit jealous of the fact that some have already seen it.
My views are already known on this and forgive me if I offend anyone. The fact that it is top secret in my opinion is just for the demo's and I guess if I was a demo I would want some perks. However, if the reason is so that demo's loose sales I for one know that it would not change how I spend my money. As a long time buyer of SU products I would never spend before the new catty(I have a limited budget) because I know that I would want new product.
This is a slightly off -topic but I feel that as a Canadian if SU would adjust their prices to be more equitable to Canadians we would buy more know I would. Please SU listen up
The Gap/oldNavy already sells and ships to Canada with no increase in price there are other stores that do the same no increase in price (pottery barn) another example.
We now have Nordstroms who has now just leased a big retail space in Downtown Vancouver Canada and believe me if they were not priced for Canadians people would not be entering their store.
Bloomingdales has just leased with The Hudsons Bay a Canadian Icon store to fill some of their spaces BD will be in Vancouver Target is also moving in These Companies know a good thing when they see it. (As a history buff I want to scream the Americans are coming!)
All these Companies want to tap into a strong Canadian market. I guess this means the SU already makes enough money from Canada I may have just wasted my breath.
I will get off my soapbox- June 1 is right around the corner and even though I like to look I probably will not purchase until Christmas (maybe)

Have you written/emailed SU! with your views? Send a letter to the Canadian office. It's important that SU! get a customer view of things. (don't know if it'll change things ... but better to do something than nothing).
Many demos now have their catalogues to distribute ... check with yours. We can distribute the physical catalogue ... just not the virtual one!
Welcomeback, it is such a good deal I don't know how anyone can pass it up.
Thank you ALL! There is something comforting about making a firm decision to stick to your craftsanity, lol. Now, I have to stop sitting here drooling over this catalog. None of my initial orders have arrived, so I'm actually trying to duplicate things I like with products I already have...omgee what a novel idea!
