It reminds me of a recent trip to (fill in the store name). The store opens (officially) in 5 or 7 minutes. The employees inside the store appear prepared to open, and are just standing around visiting. When they finally open the door at the specific, assigned time, they remind those who are entering "we open at X time."
Ok----but if you have buying customers, ready to spend money in your store, but you are going to make them wait until the exact specific time? That lacks common sense. In fact, myself (and, I'm sure many of you) have decided to leave the store. Lost money for the store. No brain surgery on that one.
The new catty issue seems to fall in that same category. You (general you) can prolong giving people catty's, even though you appear ready for the shoppers to buy. The problem? The shopper might not be there with their money to purchase when you (general you) decide to hand them a coveted catty.
I certainly understand the digit issue.
Hi Joanne,
Just a thought here -- I've wondered too why some stores can't open a few minutes early when their employees seemed poised and ready to serve their customers. Admittedly, I am not an legal eagle, but I wonder if it could have something to do with liability & insurance and of course, "store policies".
I got my new catalog yesterday. I love Halloween and was disappointed in the amount of Halloween stamps - not as many as there used to be. Otherwise it looked okay.
Based on what SU! has told demos about their catalogue strategy, there will be more Halloween in the Holiday Seasonal catalogue (which will go live August 1).

I did notice one strange thing, at least IMO. You can't buy the markers in every color anymore. Luckily I have all the markers, but for others that may want to buy them, they are out of luck. What's up with that?
I don't have a problem with store employees waiting until opening time to unlock the doors when customers are waiting. What I don't like is when they see customers outside and wait 5 minutes after opening time to open. That's when I walk away.
Looking forward to June 1st! I haven't heard from my demo yet but I'm sure she'll get me a catalog as soon as she's able. I don't particularly like looking at it online (though I did see the peek!) There was definitely some sets that caught my eye, and I'll probably order some old ones now that I can get them unmounted. The featured stamper on the Operation Write Home blog this week had some beautiful cards made with some SU stamps that I hadn't even considered before - you know how that goes!

The point of the story was if you have shoppers ready to spend money, TAKE THEIR MONEY!!! LET THEM SHOP! (story said we showed up 5-7 min. earlier then the posted time, not 1/2 hour).
Same holds true for Stampin Up and the new catty. You have customers ready to spend money? TAKE THEIR MONEY! LET THEM SHOP! (They may take their money elsewhere if you have them "wait" until the "awaited time").
There's a big set up necessary when the catalog goes live. They have to flag item numbers that are no longer available for the system so you can't order them anymore, turn on all the new ones, put new product in bins in the warehouse, have the machinery all set up so it can find the new product in the bins they will be in, etc. There is a limited amount of space in the warehouse, so all the old has to be pulled out before the new can be put in its place. I'm just amazed they can usually flip from the old catalog to the new catalog overnight. Usually, they turn the old catalog off at midnight and open the new catalog for orders at 12 noon the next day, giving them 12 hours to flip the warehouse to the new catalog. Can you imagine the amount of activity going on all night at the warehouse? In addition, they still have to pick all those orders that came in up until midnight.
It's always important to keep in mind that a catalog-based/direct sales business operates differently than a retail store. In a store, you just put the new product out and let people buy it, as long as you have space for it. Doesn't work that way for businesses like SU!
That said, I'm sure your demo would be happy to take your money now for stuff from the new catalog! ;) Of course, you'll still have to wait until noon on June 1st for her to put the order in...

According to the sign in the window of my local jewelry store (next to the doorbell) That's exactly it - insurance and liability.
I liked the package of paper and ink available at a lower price than buying them all separately. I would love to see more things like that...and maybe add ribbon to the package deal. For me, the inks that I have are close enough to the paper color that I don't HAVE to have them all...ribbons are a bit harder for me to match. In this case though, I am going to order the previous "in colors" package because I do like those colors better than the new ones. Oh, and the other new item that I would like is the template bundle for using the paper piercer around the edges of the labels.

I'm still confused about Sale-a-Bration, in terms of when it's giong to happen. That said, the last couple years SAB hasn't excited me much.
I can't wait to see the new catalogue irl. My demo is having a customer appreciation ngiht on the 16th and I'm hoping she'll have it for us to peek at, though I won't hold my breath.
I agree with you there; this year I didn't know if I liked anything well enough to spend the money to earn it. (Better to wait for the new catalog!) I did like the striped embossing folder but that can be bought outright. I hope SU will hear enough feedback that they'll give us a better selection next year. .. I've always thought in the past that SAB was a special time.

I'm soooo excited that I have my demo kit sitting here unopened because I don't want to be distracted from the NEW stuff with old stuff. I also sit on the edge of my seat to look at the clock like a gate is going to open and I'm gonna have to take off running? I must have a fever?

Don't forget we can't order (meaning anyone...customers and demos alike) until noon (Utah time) on June first! Don't anyone getting all excited and staying up late or something only to be discouraged! They take some time to flip all the switches to the new stuff.
Makes it kind of crummy if you want to next day or two day air it too since those have to be in before 11am. It won't ship until Monday if you do that...just a heads up!

It's countdown time at my house...a little more than three hours!
There are quite a few sentiment sets that I LOVE. So Sorry is at the top of my list. Am thinking of breaking down and getting them wood mounted as I'm not having a lot of luck with the clear mount sticking. If I only buy two, that's good, right???
I'm going for the 15% off 1 item for my birthday month and the extra $50 in hostess dollars for spending $450 and my 30% off first offer....that is a good start!
If I join for the $99, do I have to spent only that $99 to start? For example, if I wanted to order $200 worth - would I have to make two different orders? One with just the 99 for the kit and then a seperate one for the rest of the stuff I want?

Does this make any sense at all?
You'd have to (and want to) make it two different orders. For the starter kit, you'd pick $125 worth of products for the $99 - plus right now in June you'll also get the Make a Cake stamp set, Patio Party designer paper, and a digital content cd for free too! Then, you can place an additional order as a demonstrator for the items you want above and beyond that first $125. You would want to do it as a separate order so that your extra stuff counts towards your quarterly minimums... plus you would get your 20% commission off the price of those items! So, its a total win/win!

Well, that was quick! OEX seems to be moving along without a glitch!

Thank you so much!
So do 'products" mean anything in the catalog? For example, the embellishment holder and the ink caddy?
(I appreciate your time in answering my questions).
What is OEX? My online ordering says: down for maintenance. It's two o'clock here in TN.
It is what demos use to place demo, workshop, or customer orders.
I read that you were thinking of signing up. If you did, your upline should be able to help you with all of what you need to order. There is also a way to practice ordering once you become a demo.
Also on your first demo order you will get a 30% discount if the total is a certain amount as long as you order in the time frame that is different depending on US or Canada.
