Lizzier, I am so totally with you on this one! I have three of the four color families in spots and was so hoping that SU would have offered a color kit in the spots only or even the new papers only. I will definitely buy the marker and pastels kit and the new color coach, but the thought of buying all the new color paper individually and buying three new color collections in the spots has me bummed out.

Other than that, I love the new catty, how it's laid out, the easier on the eyes font/color and how everything is grouped together. I only went through the catalog once, so I'm glad my stamp group doesn't meet again until August.

I agree. It's more cluttered in layout this time around (thus speaks a CAS Crusader!), and for me the DP seems busier than usual, too. But then, I don't buy SU DP, so I don't really care. Mainly, I love the new colors, and about ten of the new stamp sets. I find the color combos in the card samples very inspiring, too.

Just took a quick glance online, and here are a few thoughts:

*I liked a few sets, mostly the new vintage like the one with the chairs, Elizabeth, and others. If I bought any, I'd definitely go with clear mount to save $. I liked the Happy Birthday and Thank You that were part of the card kits, but thought it was great that you can buy the stamps separate.

*Really disappointed that they didn't offer 6 X 6 paper packs. I won't buy 12 X 12 anymore, as the designs are too large for card making.

*Glad to see they offer more lace and buttons, as they're both big right now.

*The accessories were okay, but nothing that really wowed me. When I look at the price of an item, it may not seem too bad, but after you add tax and shipping, it becomes way pricier than a comparable item at a craft store.

*Who really needs a case to store clear blocks in? That seems so unhandy to me, and looks like just another step to an already laborious process. I keep my blocks in a basket at my stamp desk, and it's so handy to grab and use.

*I thought that some of the new background stamps were pretty. Glad they haven't done away with these!

*Is it just me, or did the Big Shot and dies have less of a presence in this catty compared to the last one?

*A new coffee set? I'm happy!

In the end, I'll probably buy the new inks and papers, but save my stamp set money for other companies.

I love many sets...not all, mind you but many. I have already gave my demo an order for her to put in as soon as she can. I ordered a new folder and a stamp set that matches it well. I love the owl- it's on my wish list and I already have a "wait to order next month list" that I gave my demo/friend.

Some things in the catty get a bit redundant and boring but overall I like it! Great colors and paper too...they rocked it out pretty well! There's always gonna be some disappointing facters. ;o)

Mine are also in a basket on my desk, but for travel, I think it would be a nice thing to have, to keep them from bouncing off of each other.

Default catalog

I have so much stuff that there is not a lot that I will get. A few observations:

-why did SU not jump on the thin matching die bandwagon? Not too many new dies and I don't want to buy any more of the bulky old style dies. Yes, I know that they cut through more than just paper, I have and use the butterfly die, the flower, and the mini envelope, but don't have the room to store many of those.

-Why are all stamp sets not available in the clear mount? My wish list would be four times as long if all stamps were available in the format, especially the background stamps. The largest block is made to handle it, so why aren't BG stamps clear mount? Okay, well, I'll still have to buy that big cupcake.....

-For once, I really like two of the hostess sets. The punch buddy one is great. I have the bird punch, but if I get that hostess set, I'll buy the full heart punch and the Boho Blossoms punch. Since I have the butterfly die, I can't really see me buying the punch. I'll have to have a book party to earn both of th hostess sets I want. I like the Level 1 sentiment set that is on the facing page at the bottom, across from the punch buddy set. Love the old fashioned kids stamp and Noteably Ornate.

- The new owl punch is cute, but I never jumped on the owl bandwagon and won't have that on my list. I thought that I would see dies or punches I'd want, but not really.

- Love the Marina Mist color, but don't need it right now.

- Love the samples, but am still cranky that the recipes for the projects are not in the back! I used to wear those pages out! Do they realize how many sales they lose because we can't build our wish lists from that? Yes, you can get it from your demo, but it SHOULD BE IN THE CATALOG. Man, I used to obsess over those pages and check everything out. How much would it increase the cost of the catalogs - really.

- Does anyone know when the next mini comes out?

There was a big discussion when the dog first came out that it looked like he was smoking, and it stuck with me.

I do like the smashed car and verse, but I really wanted a whole set for get well! I don't know if I would use the other stuff in that one... but thanks for pointing it out!

Totally disappointed and this will be the last year I'm in a stamp club. Its getting harder and harder to figure out what to buy. There is a set called "to a classic" and I cannot believe SU actually thought it was good enough to go into the catalog. I'm looking forward to spending my money at other companies.

Hi Pilikia! *waves!* Glad you found your way onto SCS!

I found 5 "must have" sets and about 5 "high probability" sets. I like this catty much better than the last few!

I just finished viewing the catalog online. I'm sure I will get most of the new colors of cardstock/ink but there wasn't one single stamp set that I had to have.

I have been disappointed in the last two catalogs. So this one (on-line version) was no surprise to me. I will spend my stamp money at other companies. Although I do love the SU paper so I will need to buy some.

LOL....no, I really busted out laughing reading your first post. I showed that pic to my husband and he said he looks like a pothead with a crack pipe in his mouth....lol. ((You watch too much TV honey)). THAT DOG IS U-G-L-Y!!! I would not take that set if they offered it for free.

But there are some beautiful stamps in there. I am definately getting the music notes wheel. And if anyone gets the hostess set 2 Cute by the Inch and want to sell or trade, let me know. I'm not buying $300 worth to get it, but I have some $25.00 Nesties for trade.

The new catalog is good. I saw several sets that I would buy. I don't like any of the level 1 hostess sets, but levels 2 and 3 have some great sets. Love a few sets with little children as images. There are a few new verses sets that I may buy. LOVE the new colors, and I am excited that there are color kits the purchase so I don't have to buy repeats; watercoloring crayons.

Overall, I like it. I looked through it online, but I am excited to get a paper copy soon!

Now THERE'S something to be known for!! LOLOLOL

Love, love the owl punch, the cross set and the little kids that look like the Campbell's Soup kids. Hubby likes buffalo, so will probably get that set as well.

I just popped over from the gallery - not much there. I thought it would be flooded. Are all of the demos keeping to that side? Sure would like to see what everyone is doing with their new toys - would probably change my mind on some stuff I'm on the fence about. Anyone else wanting to see this?

the catalog went live today at noon....demos that expedited their orders won't get them until Mon or Tues (not sure how UPS is observing the holiday) so by next week I'm sure the gallery will be flooded with new stamped things!!!! You just have to be patient a few more days for the new stuff to get in our hot little hands ;) The stuff in the gallery now is the stuff we could get in the preorder (which is not the entire catalog)

I got my actaul copy last night. I am so sad to report my fave set is a hostess set! It is only level one, but I don't think I can afford to buy enough stuff to get it, lol. I found maybe 3 other sets I would like, but the Afterthoughts hostess set is the only one I LOVE.

It's cutting it close, but won't there be another mini on August 1? (Just tryin' to give you hope. ;) If that's what I was looking for from SU, I'd be disappointed too. I was really surprised that there weren't MORE new sets.)

Thanks, Emily. I can hope. You think they'll release a mini 1 month after the main one?

I really like all the big shot stuff: box templates and so on, however if you add up the cost of the machine, extra platforms and then the die cuts...wow....cost is WAY up there.

Still love the matching inks and papers though, and am very likely to buy the color coach tool.

I do think that SU needs to branch out with their designs, too many of them are copies of hero arts and other stamps. I love magnolia stamps, cc designs, and wish that su would try to come up with images that would appeal to those of us who like that type of an image.

I will more then likely get some paper, a few ink pads, reinkers and a few stamp sets (clear mount only), as well as some of the new storage containers which are a GREAT price for the clear mount stamps.
If Stampin' Up! brought in Magnolia type stamps I think they'd lose a lot of sales....there are lots of companys that have little girl type stamps.
Just going through the gallery it seems there's an overload so lots of place to get those.

Thx for the info. I thought the way it worked is that demos had their stuff and couldn't start posting until the catalog went "live." Now I know.

Default New color kits

Hi all! I don't know if I missed this in the new catty or what. I just read this from Heartfelt inkspiration blog. There are kits available for the In Color and the New Colors, ink pad and CS combos (along with markers, pastels, etc.). The way I figured it, it's like paying for the pads, and getting CS for free! Yeah! I'm definitely ordering this way.

you are very welcome Yup the demos are allowed to preorder a select few items from the new catalog (the items were posted on a thread somewhere). We were then allowed to show samples using those items but not the *actual* items until July 1 when the catalog went live. But for the rest of the catalog, we have to wait with everyone else and order what we want/need on July 1 HTH!!

I am disappointed in it. I have been a SU fan for several years and was upset about the color change since I had just gotten all my full size pads as I had been using the spots. But I did give the new catty a chance, but have to say I do not like alot of the newer colors. I like some of the colors individually, but as an entire palette, it just does not work for me. I like a good mix with useful basic colors. The new SU lineup has too many similar colors and then there are some that seem 'trendy' that I would have trouble using. If you had told me last year that I would be 'out of love' with Stampin Up I would have told you you were crazy! I like to scrapbook more than make cards, and SU seems to be more geared to cards. Several of my friends who are (were!) also big SU fans are also disappointed. They usually buy out the book, but they are finding only 1 or 2 sets thay want at most and a few colors. I guess it works out for me since I am not tempted, I won't spend any money! I really miss the old colors already though and made a card today using my old chalks and it made me sad! I am switching to another company that has a nice assortment of colors. I hope those folks that like the new SU direction enjoy thier crafting, it's just not for me anymore.

I don't like many of the new colors, but I like Pear Pizzazz and Cherry Cobbler.
I was very disappointed that the individual color DP is only available in packs that have ALL of the colors in the family for $19.95. I will not spend that much money to get a couple of colors I like and end up with a pile of unused paper in colors I don't use.

Now that I have had the opportunity to spend some time looking through the catalog I find nearly all of the new stamp sets are not my style.
I don't care for Folk images nor line images that look like they were drawn by a child . I like pretty or realistic images .
That is just me. I am sure many others love the new stamp sets and colors. They can't please everyone.

I have broken down and am downloading the catty right now.

I like the set with the ugly dog. I can't remember what it is in that set that I liked, but there was one I really loved. Oh isnt' there a band-aid? A cute one with a face? Anyhow I didn't get it, but I don't hate it.

The dog is weird, but not totally horrible to me.

The prayer stamp in that "ugly dog set" is nice too... just sayin'

Anyhow I'm looking at the catty online right now and I'm loving it. That personalized gift stationary set on page 144 with the yellow almost made me fall out of my chair! DARLING.

I have a hard time with SU because I love clear so much but the clear mount option is so affordable that there are some I'm going to have to pick up this year. And I always love to buy the papers and punches and such. It's going to be a good year for my demo I can tell.

I was hoping to hate it. Sadly, I love it.

I adore all the new colours. I think most of the dsp is fab, which rarely happens for me. And I'll be buying many punches.

Quite like a few hostess sets, but I'll wait until they're retired and buy them off a demo I know rather than rushing to host a party.
