My suggestion for everyone that's not overly thrilled with the stamps in this catalogue is to simply give it a month or two. Then, start looking through the SCS galleries at the cards that have been uploaded.

You'll start to find that some sets that you originally discarded become ones that you HAVE to have. I have some in my collection that I never gave a second thought about until I saw the samples, and started using them. They are now my go-to sets when I demo at workshops.

The same holds true for the Sale-A-Bration sets. When I first saw the brochure I was completely uninspired. I only bought one on the preorder (Yummy), but now that I have it, and have seen some of the samples in the gallery, I realize that there's lots of potential for it.

I'll be uploading my Yummy sample for an upcoming SAB swap tomorrow. I just need decent lighting to photograph it.

The thought behind removing the index was that it gave SU! more room to add more product, so there is an upside to it. ;) They decided to provide the file online for those who still would like to have it to reference. HTH!
Thanks so much Jan. It's cool there's still a place to look it up.

Default New stampin up catalog

I loved it, loved it, loved it!!! The last catalog didn't wow me. I found tons of new stuff in the spring/summer catalog to buy...just love those coorduroy buttons, the branch out set, the bees, list goes on and on. I've looked at many new companies but plan to just stay with stampin up. Too overwhelming and I have enough now anyway! I don't need to look for new ways to spend $$$. I love my SU groups...yes, three groups and I'm very faithful!

Default Loving the new catalog.

I loved the catalog. Great new stamp sets, old sets, wowed by the patterned paper designs, love the park avenue set, thoughts and prayers, wonderful watercolors, and great selection of big shot dies and folders. I like having the catalog to access online as well as being able to buy a catalog too. Kudos to you Stampin Up. Great job on the new catalog. I hope they have specials like they did last year. That gives me more reasons to have a party and others to participate in having them as well.

I agree with many of the other posts. The SU stamps look too much like ones I already have. Think they need to bring in fresh new artists to spice things up a bit. They just keep redoing the same old stuff with slight changes.

There's also lots of great competition out there. I just saw the new Penny Black and Inky Antics cattys and there's tons I want from them so I guess SU is just not making stamps that are my style any longer.

I like the catalog but I miss the section in the back that lets me know what they used. Where'd it go?

My demo brought mine today at lunch and I cannot wait to get home to dive in. I did take a peek at the dies and I love them, I am wondering if the texture plates can be used with the C'bug. Anybody know? I also love some of the new papers and there are a new sets I really like. I'm pleased so far.

Default Mine arrived yesterday

i always get a copy of the American Stampin up catalogue and dont like looking at it on line its hard work downloading it to see it in the flesh is great.
I have read the responses in this thread interesting added my own bit but i must say this catalogue beats the previous two. They still need to use different designers and stop repeating images of bold and more bold its boring after a while , they just become a waste of money.
So glad some new designs are in for my friends in America and i guess my buddy will be sending me some presents like i have had for the past goodness knows how many years. Still need to make samples of more advanced work for avid and experienced stampers prices seem to have shot up quite a bit not a good move in times like now and this to me could deter new people coming forward if they compare with prices of something very similar from the vast market out their.
The problam Stampin Up must have had was difficult they are celebrating twenty years but with a recession it must have been hard to keep the catalogue interesting but not adding things which were a gamble and profits might have started to slide to me its sort of the last catalogue with some newbies and plenty of papers to bulk it up cheaper than stamps and probably sell well for them the designs from 2000 to 2005 were my favourite stampin up yeras better choice of artwork not repeats but maybe these artists have long gone from stampin up or it was too costly dont know but would have loved some of the ones i never got and thats loads.

I am agreeing with those of you who are not overly impressed with the catalog. In past cats I have been very impressed with the "style watch" sections, so colorful and inspiring. Not so impressed this time. Since I have to choose new sets, I will go with "retro fresh". I am a bird and owl lover, but I like a more naturalistic art; the sets are a bit too bold and "cutsie". However, with the accessories I think I can turn out some projects that my workshop - goers will enjoy making (although I doubt they will buy those particular sets.)

What's with the big gambling set? I think this is targeted to a very specific audience, and no one I know is into cards or these types of gaming, although we are in close proximity to two casinos. I do, however, have customers who are into fantasy gaming and anime.

Like others, I also mourned the fact that there hasn't been a good new cat set for awhile. There are so many cat lovers that this would always be a good sell as well as great for my own personal use.

I know the index & supplies list is online, but at the end of a workshop when people are wondering what to order because they like the look of a certain project, it is easy to flip to the back and show them. It's more difficult to get out the laptop, fire it up, and show them while you're trying to help others at the same time - I do miss that convenience. And yes, I know I can print it out - more loose paper.

The only hostess sets my customers have expressed an interest in is "Echoes of Kindness", which is a little surprising to me because it is too sappy for me and I'm not crazy about the flower art. For that matter, the hostess sets have not been all that effective in motivating potential bookings for me for the last 2 cats.

I'm very disappointed by the discontinuation of essential background stamps with limited replacements as well. I suppose the texturz plates are supposed to fill in the gap. Will they discontinue background stamps? I'm reluctant to order new ones since every time I get one it is almost immediately discontinued.

I do think "Thoughts and Prayers" is a useful new addition. People are always asking for and needing sympathy and get well cards and there is a nice assortment of phrases.

I'm very disappointed that the DSP "Parisian Summer" was already discontinued. There is nothing else available in this color palette.

Like others, although there are only a few new sets I want to get, my order total is still very high...

I do love SU's paper, pens, & inks, especially for color coordination.

Looking forward to the Fall-Winter 2009 cat!

I wasn't as excited about the stamp sets but I have to say that I love all the new Designer Series papers and the cordoroy buttons are absolutely adorable! The one thing that makes me sad is that this years "in colours" are going to be gone in a few months...how I LOVE the Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango!!!
