I just got an email from an SU demo with the following info. I just retired my SU credentials, but if you were considering joining...
From January 15 through February 28, Stampin' Up! is offering a special mini starter kit for the bargain price of $99! The kit includes all the business supplies of the regular starter kit, the stamp set Greetings Galore, a pack each of Whisper White and Bold Brights cardstock, and a Basic Black ink pad. PLUS, you'll also get Polka Dots and Paisley, a stamp set that will be available in the new Spring mini catalog. Each item in the kit may be substituted for a similar item of equal of lesser value.

I heard about this too.
I am thinking about signing up but I think i'll still take the Big kit so I can get some more stamp sets and I need exactly 5 more ink pads to have them all, this way i'll get them.
But a friend of mine is probably signing up through this plan cause it is just what she wants!
It is great that they are offering 2 ways to sign up
My thought exactly! I wish they would add a third option for about $50 that just includes the business stuff for those of us who've already bought almost everything they sell! ;)

Or one with just stamps and no business supplies for those that want to be a hobby demo!

Hmmm.... do I go ahead and buy the $199 and the $50 Scrappin Memories Kit OR buy the $99 kit and save that $150 and apply it to my first order (where I get the 30% discount).... starting to lean to the $99 kit.
ok, i told a friend that i saw this on here and then she went to a class tonight and wanted to sign up and our demo knew nothing about it.....she is a brand new demo herself so she doesn't know her way around the stampinup site....where do I tell her to look?

hmmm...that is very tempting. but i'll bet you dont' get the $38.95 stamp set if you do the mini kit...anyone know?

My understanding is no you don;t get the 38.95 set but we demos will not get full details until the official announcement is made at leadership conference this weekend

it is on the last page of the February Stampin Success in dates to remember but they should be posting full details on the website by Monday
It's $130 for Canadian's. I've been think it over and I think I'm going with the regular plan as there are some stamp set I want and I want the free $59 set that you get for signing up in Sell-a-brations.
This is a great opportunity if you already have a lot of the stuff in the starter kit, like the pastels, etc. On the other hand, the starter kit is also a wonderful deal! Two great choices.

I believe my demo said it does not start until the 17th or so. You do not get the free set , but you do get Shelli's Christmas gift ( from the next mini). Also, I am pretty sure she said this just goes till the end of February.
I think I am sticking with the big kit. I need some of the doubles for workshops. I think I will trade or give teh rest as doorprizes for a big workshop I want to host.
I think I'm going to do the $99 deal. I already have all of the non-stamp set items from the full starter kit and I have all the ink pads. I can spend the $100 towards my first quarter sales. If I already didn't have all the ink pads and other stuff I would definitely go with the full starter kit. Also, I am only going to be a hobby demo - otherwise again I'd go with the full starter kit for the duplicates for workshops.
This is a very interesting idea, haven't heard anything about it from my demo yet, but haven't talked to her in over a week. My husband would probably prefer that I did the $99 option, he's not too crazy about the idea. But since I only have a few stamp sets, and only 3 ink pads, and my supply of SU cardstock is dwindling down since being on this site!!, I am going to go with the full kit option, that way I get more stamps on top of it all. I also am planning on doing a stamp camp/workshop every other month, so I'll need all the supplies I can come up with.
I am signing up the beginning of Feb and I can't wait!! Can't wait to see you all over on the demo side of this site!!
