Unless I'm stamping with a two part setinment (like Gina K's You know You're Old When...), I usually leave mine blank. Once in a while I'll stamp "Happy Birthday" or whatever the appropriate setinment inside.
I do my inside sentiments on the computer before I make the card if the card(s) are for a specific occasion like Christmas or a birthday. The rest I leave blank and hand write a note. I also do the back personalization on the computer.

I always personalize the back of my cards with my name using my computer. Then I leave the inside blank for a personal message, except maybe for Christmas when I mass produce cards.
I'll print the inside if I have something specific in mind, like baby announcements or Christmas cards. For general birthday cards, I'll stamp a sentiment inside (but I could print this just as easily).
Most the time, though, I just leave it blank and write a note or I'll do some fun doodle "Happy Birthday" or whatever and sign the names.
I rarely stamp on the inside of mine because they usually go into my stash without a specific purpose yet. But when I do use them, I like to include a handwritten note on white or ivory cardstock and just slip it in. My friends know that means they can feel free to "re-cycle" that card if they want, and send it to someone else because I haven't written in the actual card. There are also little poems that you can insert that tells the receipient they can do this. Here's one:
I didn’t sign this card
before I sent it off to you,
Instead, it holds my
Warmest thoughts –
invisible, but true.
So, now it is your turn
to brighten someone else’s day.
Take this card, sign it,
and send it on its way!

What a wonderful idea!
Ok, now what program do you use to print the inside of cards??
You girls as so awesome, I really appreciate the feedback!
Pam
I've collected some basic "sentiment" stamps over the years for the main card occasions like birthdays, Christmas, sympathy, get well, etc. I keep the sentiment simple and short so I have room to write my own message.
Otherwise I create a word document on the computer and print out whatever I want. This is fun, because you can say whatever you want AND you can choose the font you want to use. There are specialty CDs out there now with different fonts, but even a basic MS Word program has a lot of options. I always print a draft on my cheapo copy paper first, to make sure the spacing is correct before printing it on nicer paper. Print, trim, adhere to the inside of your card.
I'm with missiowa81. Lots of people have mentioned printing without being specific about whether they print directly onto the inside of the card blank, or onto paper. I like using paper - sometimes good white, sometimes vellum. Trim it down slightly smaller than the card, punch the corners or edge with a fancy punch and attach with a THIN line of glue that is more along the front of the card than the back along the the fold - if that makes sense?
That's for fancy cards or when I've used dark card-stock for cards I am selling, because I don't know if everyone would have a gold or silver pen for writing with.
I keep a binder full of various sentiments for all kinds of occations but I usually write them in by hand. I just like the personal touch of it. I usually use a fancy glittery pen too.

:p We are kindred spirits.
I never ever ever print or write directly on the inside of my card base. I always stamp or print onto another piece of nice ivory or white paper and then adhere it to the inside of my card. Sometimes I even put a coordinating mat under it, because my cards tend to be "front heavy" and by putting that extra layer on the inside, the card is more likely to stand up nicely for the recipient. And all my friends will tell you that I am the queen of the ticket corner punch.
I'm working on a scan of an example. BBS.

OOOOhhh, I really really like this idea....thanks for sharing...now do you mind if I case it as is and start using it as well? Wonderful idea...
Cany ouplease share with me how exactly you print from a computer inside your cards and on the backside?
How do you place the cardstock, so it prints itn the correct location?
Do you have a template already in a program that you use over and over again, and if so, would you please please be willing to post it and share it with those of us less gifted in the tech dept?
Thanks so much; I would love to try this...with your hlep of course!!

I'm pretty sure that's going to vary depending on your printer. You can run a test by putting an "X" on your paper while it's in the printer. . . then see where your text prints out.
I leave my cards blank inside if it's going into my "ready-to-send" box for no specific occasion or person. If I'm making it as-needed to send out for someone in particular, I always stamp a sentiment on coordinating cardstock and adhere it to the inside. I often add to the inside a stamped image, even DP, and sometimes a small embellishment.
It's interesting to see all the different ways people handle the inside of the card! There's a lot more computer printing going on than I realized !
Somebody might have already said this and I apologize if they have - I haven't read the whole post yet, but wanted to share what I do. I know people have mentioned running it through the printer. Sometimes I decide after I have finished the outside that I want something on the inside. So I will print it on coordinating paper in the printer and then use a nestie or something cute to cut it out and mat it on the inside of the card. As long as I don't have too many layers on the front this doesn't make the card too thick or heavy. I think sometimes it adds just the right touch. Hope you got some great ideas! I will look through them all later to get some for myself! What a great question to ask!
When I print directly on the inside of my cards or on the back, I use my computer. I've made a template for the positioning for both the inside and back. Sometimes I do also print the front on the computer. That also I have made a template for. I make all my templates in MS Word.
There are some very cheap card making programs you can get that will allow you to print on the front and/or inside of a an A2 card size.
There are times I will print the inside on a separate quality paper and then use double stick tape to secure it to the inside of the card.
I always have a bunch of sentiments pre stamped on cardstock in a little box so if I have a special card I want to send, I can just mount a selected stamped image on coordinating cardstock color and glue it on the inside...
I don't do this yet but thought of this idea just now...If you get a card from someone and you like the sentiment on the inside, why not cut it out and use it again on another card. I always save the card fronts (not the inside flap) of the cards I receive so I can have a box of ideas.
Here's the templates I used for my Christmas cards this year - one for the inside and one for the back. You can see that I set things up in tables and then center side-to-side and top-to-bottom in each cell. I cut my cardstock in half before printing and adjust the printer setting to accept of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2paper. I run a sample first using a half sheet of regular printer paper first - I've been know to mess it up by feeding the paper through incorrectly when I print the back.

That's a really good idea. In fact, to agree with kerbear, I actually just bought a box of sympathy cards and a box of wedding cards for like 25 cents each on clearance to use the sentiments (I have a hard time coming up with some of them). And in the past when I have needed sentiments for baby cards I have actually taken some of the cards out of my son's scrapbook and copied the sentiments onto my computer to use again and again. (I sometimes change them up just a little...) Anyway, that was a great idea Kerry! Thanks for reminding/inspiring me!!
I use studio paper from USArtquest. You print in mirror image and then you put in on the card like a rub on. I use it on the fronts and insides. You can really personalize a card this way.

I never heard of it but that sounds great!! I'd love to be able to sit down at the computer and generate a lot of things at one time and have them in my stamp area ready to be used. I'll be looking into this idea! Thanks so much for sharing
I don't have a printer at home yet (just a photo printer that can only use 4x6 paper)

My mom does this. Also with images from the front of cards... I think it's a great idea but I love to keep my cards for so long. I have a box of them. Maybe one day I will be able to part with them and cut them up. :o

This was a thought I had just had recently as well (of cutting out the inside sentiment to use again). I had previously saved the fronts of cards in case I wanted to use part of it on a card I came up with, but as I was tearing off the sentiment page from some of the Christmas cards recently, it made me realize I might be able to use the sentiments also.

I usually print a couple of sheets of the most popular sentiments and store them for when I need them. Most of my cards don't have anything inside, but sometimes for a really special one, I add it.
In a word processor I make two columns on a page. I type various sentiments in pretty fonts in both columns (maximize page usage). When I need a sentiment, I cut it out with a Nestie, or by hand and adhere it to the inside of a card.
Because I love to write poetry. I usually write a poem on the computer, print it on vellum sheets and glue it to the inside of the card using vellum adhesive because it doesn't show through. This way of of my cards are personalized for the specific person.

This is Wonderful!! Can I CASE this? I'm in a monthly card swap and this would be perfect to put inside of my cards that I make!! TFS!!
I have very few sentiment stamps. I do have 3 different alphabet sets that sometimes I will stamp something simple like HOPE, JOY. For other sentiments, I too use my printer.
When I have a hard time coming up with what to say,
I love going to THIS THREAD. There are so many sentiments there to choose from.
