hi ladies,
i am planning on placing my first stampin up order soon! for regular cardmaking on regular cardstock, which ink, would be best? !i know one is a little bit more costly than the other and i`m on a bit of a budget this month! any help would be apprecated! thank you and have a great weekend!
Well, since you are on a budget and are using the ink mainly for cards, I'd go with the classic pads. They are cheaper than the craft pads and dry instantly whereas the craft pads take much longer to dry or need to be heat set. You can always buy the craft spots if you think you may need craft ink in the future.
I say go for the classic ink pads to start with. I dont know what you think about the ink spots, but I use them and they are nice to have ... you can get all the ink colours in one family in one shot. I got the four colour families in ink spots first, then I bought larger ink pads in the colours that I use most frequently.
You can get more colors and you can use them just as well as the full size pads!
I agree with this. I bought all the colors in the spot before I purchased any full size pads, except for the neutrals. I found the colors I like the best and used the most, and purchased those. I surprised myself, thinking I would lean toward blues, my favorite color, but found that the blues were far from my first choice when stamping. The spots have the added benefit of being able to ink different parts of a stamp with different colors, kind of like using markers. The corners fit in tiny spaces on stamps and make a wonderful addition to all your stamping creations.
I'd go with the classics, too. I would get the classic pads, rather than the spots, if you plan on going to the larger pad eventually anyway. IMO, it would be a waste to end up buying both. Just choose a few colors that you like and start there. Then add to them as you can. I only have black right now, until my order arrives, but was able to do a number of cute cards last night with that one color. Good luck!
Ditto on the classics. Be dure to also have on your soon to buy list a Versa Mark pad for giving you a tone on tone look and for embossing. I might suggest black, gold, and silver embossing powder one you decide to emboss. These embossing colors go with almost anything.
